Sage is a woman with no time for games. She has teenagers to raise, a business to run and the father of her girls to manage… literally. So, when she goes on a date with JJ and he never calls again, she chalks it up to just another horrible date. Besides, she didn’t like JJ, his dimples or his muscles covered in tattoos anyway. It’s those little lies that help you get through life! JJ screwed … screwed up and he knows it! He went out with the woman of his dreams and like a moron never called her again. In his defense, life turned crappy right about then so he’s sure she’ll be understanding, it’s not like women hold onto grudges… okay, fine, he’ll need help plus a prayer to get Sage to forgive this colossal mess up.
But their story is far from over. After all, they’ve both been through enough bad times in their lives it’s only fair they get a happily ever after… right? Only trouble is, no one ever said life had to be fair.

Even though this is a standalone book I believe I would have enjoyed it even more if I had read the previous books in this series. I thought it was very funny and the scenes with the friends and with the kids were so realistic you can imagine them happening with you or your family. I also loved that the two main characters were older and had teenage kids. Funny moments sprinkled throughout this story made it very fun and refreshing.

Funny and sassy fun.
Sage is the mother to 15 yo twin girls Missy and Becca. She has her hot, alpha MMA ex Danny, who she’s business partners with. They have a great relationship.
Oh, and Sage went one one date with JJ, a cop, swat, ex military alpha (Sage so has a type) who ghosted on her.
JJ is pushing forty, has a 15 yo daughter Paige he shares with his not quite an ex nightmare Jackie (she’s truly awful). It’s pretty bad when JJ has to enlist his teenage daughters help to talk to Sage.
But, boy, does he have some major ‘xolaining to do. Can he win the perfect woman? Cuz Sage is all that, smart, funny, beautiful, and real.
Highly recommend.

Sage and JJ were a great couple! I loved their snark and banter. I haven’t read the previous books in the series, so I was a little lost with all of the other secondary characters. But it was a great story, and I will definitely read the others when I get my hands on them.

Protected by You is the fourth book in the SAPD SWAT Series. Sage is a single mother to fifteen year old twins Becca and Missy, she and her ex couldn’t make a relationship work, but are great friends! JJ is a member of the swat team, he is almost forty and has a fifteen year old daughter Paige. Sage and JJ went out on a date, but then he ghosted her! She can’t understand what went wrong! JJ had a great time with Sage and was looking forward to having a relationship with her, that is until he found out there was a mixup and he’s not divorced from his ex! So instead of telling Sage the truth he avoids her, which is almost impossible since she’s best friends with one of his team members wife! Can he convince her he’s all in? Will she forgive him for not calling her? Another great book in the series!

This is my first time reading one of Nikki Mays stories. It is fantastic and a must read! Can’t wait to read more. The characters are sassy and captivating. They have you laughing at all the antics. I couldn’t put this book down until I was finished.

Absolutely fantastic! This marvelous addition to in the “SAPD SWAT” series is well written and is quite the page turner with drama, intrigue, humour, mystery, and suspense. The storyline is well-developed with interesting and realistic characters (both main and supporting) you will love – they are family, good friends, hilarious and entertaining. The interaction and witty banter between them will have you laughing uncontrollably throughout the entire book. This is a MUST READ!

I’ve been waiting for Sage’s story since I read Kay and Marc’s. This had the same craziness and laughter and I couldn’t get enough. These families really are something else. But it catches you and as crazy as they are, you still can’t help wanting to be a part of them. Sage and JJ were hot and I am glad they got through original disagreement early on. The girls were just downright hysterical and I wouldn’t mind having them as my own.

The fourth book in the SAPD SWAT Series a book that had me smiling as these to work toward their happy ending. Sage is the mother to fifteen year old twins Becca and Missy, JJ is almost forty and has a fifteen year old daughter Paige that he shares with his almost ex-wife Jackie. This is a well written book that kept me turning pages. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

ONE SMOKIN’ ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Talk about fast and furious meet sensual and sultry. A whirlwind of activities and events that keep you flipping page after page. A rollercoaster ride with a plethora of swirling emotions burst front and center. One engaging storyline and gripping plot bring this little gem alive flawlessly. The characters are realistic with personalities and depth that draw you in. All the drama, action, uncertainty, danger and suspense brings all the pieces together for one wild ride. The scenes were so vividly detailed it gives the illusion you were right there with them. Remarkable job Nikki, thanks for sharing this little gem with us.
Another great read by Nikki Mays. This book will make you laugh, love family, and most importantly it will steal your heart.
Sage the mother of twin girls who are in their teenage years. Sage is also best friend and business partner with her ex and father of her twins. Yes I thought it was weird at the beginning but omg I love their relationship.
JJ the guy who never called Sage back. Father of a teenage girl whom is friends with the twins.
Did I mention he is a sexy cop?
This book has just so much to give the reader. We get to see the whole gang. Characters from the other books that we love so much. I couldn’t put it down and I just laughed most of the book.
Sage had to move on, she couldn’t wallow in hurt feelings. Sure, she thought her and JJ had an awesome first date but obviously he didn’t. Sure, a good friend was shot right after that date so that could have explained a delay in calling her back. But facts were facts and the fact was JJ ghosted her. Sage has resigned herself to seeing him around since they have the same circle of friends. Too bad she still thinks he is the hottest man alive. JJ doesn’t know what to do. He knows he has blown his only chance with this amazing woman. He is just going to have to dig deep and man up if he wants to win Sage’s heart.
EEEEEEEEEE! I literally screamed when I saw this awesome lady had a new book in the SWAT series. I have been desperate for Sage and JJ’s book and I had so much fun watch them get together. I made myself read it in small increments so that I didn’t finish it too quickly, I didn’t want it to end. The dialogue that Nikki Mays writes needs to be read out loud, needs to be released in audio, asap! I loved the progression of their relationship as they created a family, unconventional for sure but amazing nonetheless. Previous reviews have mentioned that JJ should have groveled a little more when he apologized for ghosting Sage. I love a good grovel but it wouldn’t have fit the personality of either character. Sage knew he was being truthful and didn’t need to make him feel any worse than he already did. I have loved all the previous books and Protected by You has joined their ranks on my keeper shelf. It was so darn sweet and sexy; it was just plain adorable! I cannot wait for the next in the series featuring Rocco and Sage’s sister Lavender. 6 stars for Protected by You!
After reading and loving the last book in the series I could not wait to read Sage and JJ’s story and it was another fantastic read. The storyline was really good and held my attention all the way through and just like the previous book this one also had me laughing out loud I would recommend this series to all I just loved it
Sage and JJ are a great couple and I love how the other characters are also there! I love this series and I love this book!

Sage and JJ tried this once. But after a great first date it never went further. JJ had to fix this and with the help of his teenager and sage’s twins he got the ball moving.
Together alongside the SWAT team, their wives and kids, Danny and the Ross brothers and Dee things are always happening.
Especially when a two night stand comes back and turns psycho.
Nikki is great at making hilarious, steamy and wonderful crazy characters. Especially these parents of teens. This book is a great read full of banter, steaminess and such a closenit group. I think that’s the best part, how incredibly close each person is. The guys hang out at work and outside of it. The girls hang out. The children hang out and the teens help everyone. I also love the dynamic between Danny and Sage- best co-parenting situation ever.
I hope Lavender and Rocco figure their stuff out. I want to see Declan fall head over heels. And I’d love to see Danny find his HEA (maybe his own story) and same for the Ross brothers (even updates in passing about their HEAs).
Also could do with a timetable with family tree. With this large group trying to keep track between Morris falling for Millie and Sage and JJ’s completed family gotta keep track of when it all went down. Loved the epilogue. Haha someone was laughing when they got given that heads up.

Upbeat and quirky dialogue fill this funny and sometimes awkward romance between single daddy police officer JJ and hot single momma of twins, Sage.
The banter and fun are filled with family interactions along with Sage’s ex, Danny.
Friends and family join in on the crazy antics of Sage’s teen twins along with JJ’s daughter as they all bond together as a zany blended family.

I was looking forward to reading this story and I was not disappointed at all. It was so entertaining. I laughed, loved and felt some of the emotions alongside the characters. The storyline was brilliant and kept me interested. I loved having glimpses of the other characters too. So enjoyable. I hope to get more in this series.
