Enter the dark side of romance that New York Times bestselling author Penelope Sky does oh so well. Captured by her brother’s enemy, London becomes a pawn in Crewe’s game. But the pair can’t deny the sizzling hot attraction between them. Get ready for your next obsession! Joseph Ingram made the mistake of stealing from me—four million dollars. He took my intelligence without paying for it. And … intelligence without paying for it. And thought he could get away with it.
Think again.
Now I’ll take something from him—something irreplaceable.
His sister.
Collateral.
But even when Joseph doubles the amount of money he owes me, I don’t give her up.
Nope. I have an image to maintain.
So I keep her.
And I’m not giving her up.

Incredible series. Dark and heart-wrenching. Check trigger warnings.
Crewe was delicious! Let me just get that out there before anything else about this book. He was freaking yummy!! Penelope Sky did me a huge favor with this character. I find that usually, when an author calls their story a dark captive story, that they will still soft sell it. Not this author. When his captive acted up, he was quick to put her in her place… until he fell for her.
After catching her hand as she went to slap him, Crewe gave her a backhand across the face… “If you don’t want me to slap you, don’t slap me. If you don’t want me to hurt you, do as I say.”
London was the worst kind of captive. She talked back, she acted up, and she felt entitled. I couldn’t stand her, but I lived for every time that Crewe snuffed out her entitlement or reminded her of her situation. I loved when one of her many questions went unanswered. I loved when he degraded her, demeaned her, humiliated her, and made her feel less than. Crewe is the only reason this book gets three stars and if I do continue to with this series, it would be just to see more of him.
I love Penelope’s books. I was unsure about this one since it was a kidnapping but I’ve got to tell you it was so good. Crewe is a duke and a very powerful man that has a thriving scotch business but also has a Vendetta to get pay back to those who killed his parents and older brother. He has a lot of anger towards others and doesn’t trust well at all. When Crewe takes London to hurt her brother and to show you can’t cross him at all in the business. London is a spitfire head strong woman that nothing can break her until Crewe is going to sell her and treats her like nothing but something he owns and has no care for. As they get to know each other better they begin to start seeing each other but London wants to escape but can’t just yet. Will her brother be helpful or hurtful?
Fantastic book from start to finish – I couldn’t even put it down. Love the connection between this and the Crow series. Penelope Sky did not disappoint once again. I can’t wait to read The Scotch Queen next!
When I started reading I couldn’t put it Penelope Sky is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this books.
Wow what a fantastic story. The intro started off with a BAM!!! This isn’t a sweet or romantic story I found the beginning of the book to being extremely intense it had me captivate and at the edges of my seat. I was on a emotional rollercoaster as the story kept unraveling little by little and we got to see Crewe in all his glory I didn’t know if to hate him or love him. Crewe is dark and intriguing but London is fierce and feisty but when they both come together sparks ignite. I really enjoyed this story. What a great start for this series!!! In does end on a cliffhanger but I’m looking forward to hearing more of Crewe story. So looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I highly recommended this book. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no minority compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
