Nothing about being a librarian prepared Thuy Nguyen for such a wide variety of casseroles. Or life in a small town. Or becoming a farmer. But what can she do when her catastrophe-prone best friend begs her for help? After all, Maddy has always been there for Thuy. It’s time to return the favor. It’s simple really, all she has to do is: learn everything about farming ASAP, save her BBF’s family … family business from disaster, and avoid being caught staring at Maddy’s biker brother, and his muscles, and his smile, and his soulful, sexy eyes.
Oh yeah, and she should definitely not fall in love with him.
Easy, right? . . . Right.
‘Prose Before Bros’ is a full-length contemporary romantic comedy, can be read as a standalone, and is book#3 in the Green Valley Library series, Green Valley World, Penny Reid Book Universe.

Prose Before Bros was a great read by Cathy Yardley. Thuy is a librarian who never thought she would be living in a small town or become a farmer. When her best friend needs help, that is exactly what her life becomes. She quickly has to learn about farming so that she can help save her best friends family business. While also fighting her attractiong to Maddy’s biker brother. I loved reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
I am absolutely loving this fabulous series ! Thuy and Drill are the quintessential opposites attracting ! Thuy is sassy, sweet librarian and Drill is a biker. They are thrown together by a mutual friend and the attraction is undeniable . It is a lesson learned that ..the mistakes of your past do not have to define your future !!The characters were real and so easy to fall in love with ! A beautiful story of love and finding yourself and the support of others !!

Another excellent read by a new-to-me author! It’s a great time to be a romance reader!
Another excellent growth and redemption story! Thuy was THE perfect match for Drill. Her background/history made her the strong loyal woman she is today and exactly the woman to handle Drill’s life Match made in heaven!
The only thing I would say that made me eye twitch a bit was Drill and his MC affiliation/behavior. I understand the MC world fully. I get the code they live by and how they handle circumstances. It’s never going to be the way a regular citizen would handle circumstances. Getting out of the life is not just a decision one makes. It comes with a lot of repercussions. Most of them not being favorable. I know this is fiction but Drill’s conflict was wrapped a bit to neatly for my taste. I still enjoyed the heck out of this story tho!
So I think out of the smartypants romance books, this is my least favorite. I couldn’t connect with the characters and story. The main characters are so opposite, I just couldn’t see them being together. It could be a case of “it’s me not you.”
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I think we all need a best friend like Thuy in our lives. Her character was my absolute favorite thing in this book. She’s a bit of tough chick and the most loyal best friend there ever was.
Prose Before Bros was another read by an author that’s completely new to me. When it comes to Drill, I honestly don’t have a lot recollection of him. Beard With Me and Beard Necessities have been my last reads of the Winstons within the past year. Since then, it has been a while since I’ve visited Green Valley. I think I need to do a re-read of the Winston Brothers to jog my memory.
As far as the Iron Wraiths go, I’m so ready for this club to just unfold. I feel like it’ll happen eventually … hopefully during this series. As far as things go with Drill, he’s just so done with the club business and it shows even more when his sister returns along with her best friend.
For a motorcycle guy, Drill was an interesting character. Remember I don’t have a lot of knowledge of him, but from a first glance. He’s not all bad. I was super surprised that Thuy was pulled towards him because of her history. But I didn’t hate it.
I wanted a bit more romance between Thuy and Drill, but I was still happy with everything that happens between them. I’m beyond happy that Thuy is in Green Valley because she’s ready to make some much needed changes in the area.
This was definitely another enjoyable read from this series and we’re seeing more of Catfish in this. I’m about ready for his story especially since you can tell that club life is wearing on him. We’ve been getting all the hints and I need it now!

I will start off with saying that overall, I did enjoy this book. Even though I am not one for biker books these days, the biker element didn’t take from my enjoying the overall story of this book.
I am stuck on the things that I didn’t overly enjoy in this one. It moved slow for me. There was a bit too much filler and unnecessary rambling in this book that took away from this being an even better book. I found myself skimming a few parts that really played no part in anything in the story.
The resolution felt forced and a little sudden. I figured it would play out similar to how it did, but the way it was told left me still feeling a little less satisfied. Maybe that was just me?
I was on board with these characters. I love reading books written by authors who know how to create interesting characters I can like, love, or despise. This one is most assuredly one of those.
If you haven’t been following allow with the band of authors writing books in the Pennyverse, you really need to rethink that decision. I haven’t been disappointed yet, and I have now read over half of them. I regret nothing!
The was an excellent addition to the Smartypants Romance world. Cathy Yardley brought her characters to life in Green Valley, and it feels like you are in a Penny Reid book. The writing in the book is excellent, and it flows remarkably. I could not put this book down, and stayed up way past my bedtime to read. Once I started, this book drew you in and played out like a movie in my head.
Thuy is a librarian (and has the degree to prove it), and Drill (Teddy) is the current enforcer for the Iron Wraiths. The trope for this book is harder to define, there is a semi enemies to lovers theme, but their attraction and chemistry soon changes everything.
The way that Drill wanted to read and discuss books with her and for her, just made me swoon. He was excited about reading, after 16 years of not reading anything. It just gave me all the feels, when he was becoming more and more invested in the book (like any true bookworm – staying up late/all night to read).
I especially loved how Thuy not only became the hero, but she also stood up for what she believed in and how it could help the community in regards to the library. It’s worth a note that the representation of the previous Green Valley Library characters were spot on. The title itself couldn’t be more fitting!
This series continues to cement the excellence of all the Smartypants Romance authors, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next!
