This is an interesting series. I love all the characters, and the idea of the tree in the bookstore. The story is a good one. Was definitely blindsided on who done it…. Was definitely a good surprise. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
This series is just “Charming” – the characters are a lively group and the mysteries are involved enough to engage an amateur sleuth reader. I look forward to reading the next one.
P.S. I vote for David.
This is the second book in the Magical Bookshop series, and the second book I’ve read by Amanda Flower. It does not disappoint. Flower has created a great cast of characters in a wonderful town. The mystery plot is interesting and thorough, and the romance subplots keep you wanting more. I’ve ordered book 3 and am looking forward to continuing this series.
i always enjoy Amanda’s books she is original and holds my interest.
I started with this even though it is the second book in the series. I found the book at a library book sale and the cover was so cute and the description was good, so I bought it. I’m glad I did because it’s a very good read. The main character is Violet and she runs Charming Books a small bookshop in Cascade Springs, NY just by Niagra Falls. Her grandmother runs the bookstore with her and is quite an interesting character. There is a bookstore cat and even a bookstore crow and, if that isn’t enough to keep the bookstore interesting, there is is a tree growing inside the bookstore … and it is charmed by the local spring water and helps the main character solve murders. This book in the series deals with the death of one of the members of the local authors club that meets at Charming Books weekly. Quick paced book with lots of interesting characters and just enough drama to keep it fun!
A bit of whimsy, a supernatural twist, a wink at the supernatural, unusual characters add up to a fun read.
A feel good read
So much to enjoy! Characters are habit for Remington, heroine is smart an gets things done. Stories are complex and tricky. Can’t wait for next book. Buy them. They’re entertaining and just a darn god read.
couldn’t put it down
I have enjoyed reading all three of Amanda Flowers books in this series, and I do hope she adds on a few more books to the series. If I could have been whatever I wanted, I would have been a bookstore owner. Her stories are so entertaining.
It is a fun cozy mystery. I enjoyed the characters and found it hard to put down.
Wonderful way to spend our forced time inside with delightful characters, and a mystery to solve.
This was a comfortable book to read, not demanding, just enjoyable. These days, staying home, it was exactly what I wanted. Cozy
Great book!
I like the characters in this mystery series. I also love the setting of a magical bookstore with the added elements of a cat named Emerson and a crow named Faulkner. It’s nice to suspend reality for awhile and let the book weave its spell. A very good cozy mystery.
Prose and Cons is the second book in the Magical Bookshop Mysteries. I liked the first one but I loved this one even better. All of the Edgar Allan Poe references and the fact that Poe’s stories were used to help solve the case, added to my enjoyment. Who doesn’t love a good, creepy Poe story every once in awhile?
There were plenty of twists and turns making this mystery a mind-boggling puzzle that kept me guessing until the end. The murder victim wasn’t the most well-liked person which meant there were MANY viable suspects. And in the end, I was completely shocked by who actually did it. Never in a million years did I suspect this person, but it made perfect sense after the reveal.
I’m having such a fun time with this series. I mean, how awesome would it be to have a shop like Charming Books! I highly recommend this to book lovers everywhere and can’t wait for book three!
I totally love this series. Can not wait to read the third.
This book just cements this series as a really fun and entertaining must read on the cozy mystery list! This is the second book in the series and it takes the characters development just a bit further and the plot is fantastic. Creative “murder” technique and the list of suspects is long, but well sorted to bring you to the conclusion in a well thought out manner. I really want the author to hurry and provide us with another book as I really want to see where the characters go next in their personal stories as well as I’m sure solving another crime!
Second in the series is just as fantastic as the first. Did not want it to end.
I bought this after reading the first book in the series. I bought both books with the audio read by Rachel Dulude who was wonderful. I really enjoyed both books and actually didn’t switch back and forth from audio to reading due to the excellent job of the reader. I can’t wait until the next one comes out! I do hope they keep Rachel Dulude as the reader.
