A most enjoyable, clean, regency romance with some tragedy and mystery. Wonderful characters and an engaging storyline with some definite twists and turns.
I really liked Edward and Dorthea’s story. It is filled with tragedy, suspense and romance. This is an entertaining story about 2 damaged people who find healing and love with a happy ending.

I really enjoyed the focus on the main characters and their relationship in this book. Earl Edward Turner was a handsome, charming, very selfish, arrogant man who got everything he wanted and didn’t care who he hurt in the process. He is badly burned in a fire and retreats from society. He completely changes into a different person during that time. Instead of becoming bitter, he recognizes the kind of man he used to be and becomes humbled and kind (quiet, but still charming.)
After hiding from society for 5 years, he returns to look for a wife to continue the family line (the heir and spare). He’s not looking for love. The ladies are appalled at his scars and won’t give him a second glance. One man keeps harassing him to gamble with him, as he was known to never lose in his former life. He’s sworn off gambling, but he figures one night will put his tormentor in his place, and that will be the end of it. The man won’t stop gambling, and when he’s out of money, offers up his daughter, Dorothea Earnest as a wife. He accepts because he’s been drinking too much, not realizing it’s an iron clad contract and he can’t get out of it!
I don’t want to spoil anything, but just want to say I loved their story. Dorthea is kind, sweet, understanding, and smart!! She was a fantastic heroine!!! There was mystery, intrigue, romance in this story- it had everything and it was quite well written! I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good, clean, well written regency romance!

Promise of the Earl is a very enjoyable, suspenseful Regency romance. I really enjoyed Dorothea and the Edward who emerged after recovering from the fire. Dorothea’s father made a great villain. The plot had a surprise conspirator revealed at the denouement. If you enjoy Regency tales, do not miss this book. A beautiful well-written story that held my interest from the first page. Earl Edward Turner has a lot of pain he has to let go of especially with all the damage done to him from burns.Dorothea Earnest has to get over the abuse by her father to her self worth. I enjoyed reading how these two work out everything. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This story is a little different from a lot of Regency’s. Not too much time is spent at balls and parties and instead focuses on the two characters and their relationship. He was once a self-centered and arrogant man. She is a sweet girl who sees beyond appearances. I enjoyed reading this story on a rainy afternoon. It’s a good choice for Regency lovers.

Lord Turner’s life hasn’t been the same since he was scarred in a fire at his home. He has vowed not to return to his old life of gambling, even though he always won. When an acquaintance hounds him endlessly to once again gamble he reluctantly agreed to one night of cards. What possible motive could he have for wanting Lord Turner to gamble again and what does Lord Turner stand to win when the man has lost everything else? This book has twists and turns that you won’t see coming..

This short novel tells the story of a daughter oppressed by an evil father and a man who feels love is beyond his grasp because of his marred appearance. It is hard to imagine a father being able to gamble away his own daughter, but that is the situation in which Dorothea found herself. Can she overcome her anger toward her future husband and grow to love the man he is inside? Can Edward overcome his past mistakes and the ton’s revulsion at his appearance while allowing love and trust to grow in his heart?
This book provided an interesting evening’s entertainment.

Wow!!! What an amazing story!!! This story of Dorothea who had a despicable father who was cruel beyond comprehension and Edward who has a tragic accident is one that I absolutely couldn’t put down. There are lots of twists and turns, surprises around every corner and an amazing end to their story.

Excellent story, fast moving and easy to read. The story kept you interested and you needed to see what will happen next. Really a nice love story too. It’s hard to give any details without giving away the story. An accident changes a man, a mean heartless father that cares nothing for his daughter, revenge and yet a love story in the mix. I really loved the story and think anyone reading it will too.
This story will kept entrainment until the end…
Wonderful plot and characters…
A scared man in search of true and acceptance… a young lady oppressed by her father…
Will love or revenge win at the end?

The story over has great potential for mystery, danger, attempted murder, subterfuge, betrayal and true love. I feel that the story was too short when there was so much more that could have been added to the storyline. Everything that happened, happened too quickly and then that was the end of it. I wish it had more substance. It would have been an even greater story than what it was. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a beauty and the beast remake. The Earl of Turner, Edward was selfish and cruel until a fire destroyed his good looks and forced him to change his ways. Dorothea Earnest was a bluestocking, beaten by her father and forced to do his bidding in his revenge against Edward. I liked Edward’s friend Stephen, Viscount Johnston and hope he gets his own romance. I didn’t like how Lord Gaines and Lady Lauder were tried and punished without the possibility of a trial based on their overheard confessions.
He was all genuinely and playing hard until one day he is in an accident. He was scarred on the outside as well as inside. He needs to find a wife but going back intensified was going to be hard. Her father has arranged her marriage to him. Which will be the lesser evil marriage or staying with her father? See where this tale will take you

This is tragic, romantic, sweet and engaging. Edward was an unfeeling cad in his youth, but after being burned in a fire, he completely changed. He became kind, charming and humble. After hiding from society for 5 years, he reenters it looking for a wife. When he’s harassed into gambling again, he figures one night will put his tormentor in his place. He wasn’t planning on accepting any kind of marker, until his opponent made an offer that was hard to resist, and he thought that the lady would be better off if she was no longer with her father. He knew there was something not right with the situation, besides his behavior, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. And having any kind of emotional feelings for his betrothed just confused the situation. Two broken and vulnerable people come together to overcome a bad situation, and fall in love. I really enjoyed it.
