4 stars for Promise Me by Rebel Hart. This is book two in The Diamond in The Rough Series. This book picks up right where book 1 left off. It starts with a bang and ends with one too. This story keeps getting better and better. This book delves in deeper to Rae and her friends and who they are. Well Some may say the story moved slow , but I think it moved at the speed needed for the development of the story. I could not put this book down and with the cliffhanger. I am diving into book 3 now.

3.5 Stars! Clint and Rae’s story continues in Promise Me, picking up right where we left off in Play With Me.
Summary:
Rae Cleaver never knew how strong she could be. Not until it came time to save Clint Clarke’s life. When the worst happens, Rae stands by her man. She’ll do whatever it takes to bring Clint back from the dark, and keep him with her. But is Clint ready for this life-changing transition? He’s fighting for his life, but also his freedom. The demons he carries are very much still present, and he’s not entirely sure if he deserves to lay them to rest. But Rae’s attention and care can work miracles. For the first time, Clint finds himself with a loving and supportive foundation. A foundation that will help him become the man he’s always been meant to be. But which way will he turn when part of that foundation is threatened, and he must finally stand tall against his greatest enemy? An enemy that he’s all too aware that he could become. Will he hold tight to the good he’s found or turn away with hopelessness?

Book one left us all on a tragic cliffhanger, so there was no way I wasn’t reading book two. I’m not usually a fan of cliffies, but after starting Clint And Rae’s story, I couldn’t put it down. I was so proud of Rae in this book. She is incredibly strong given her young age, and has probably lived more life than she should have to. The courage she showed when helping Clint was amazing, and the support she gave after was very mature. I was also extremely pleased to see her stand up and be heard on her feelings about D.J. Clint’s growth in this book was extreme. We see so much deeper into who he is underneath the anger and hostility. I loved seeing him become more aware of his peers and the world around him. Not just trying to escape from what his life has been. He wants more from life nowadays, and is truly starting to believe he deserves to have it. As a couple, Clint and Rae were solid. They stuck by each other through the entire accident ordeal, and through Clint’s transition from the bully group at school. The intimate scenes were intense and steamy. The emotion they put forth could clearly be seen when they were together. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a bit slower paced with not as much action as book one. This was not a bad thing. The storyline focused on Clint and Rae’s relationship (love), and character development. Especially, a few characters we didn’t know much about. I came to really like Michael in this book. He was a great friend to Rae, and really stepped up when it came to letting Clint into their click. I’m really curious to see what his reaction is after this heartbreaking cliffhanger, though. I also adored getting to know Cecilia. It’s rare that we truly get to know the adult characters in books like this one, but Rebel made Cecilia an open book. I really hope, after all she’s been through, that she gets and HEA, too, and that Clint doesn’t lose her maternal presence in his life. Howard continues to be the worst parent in history, and I hope he gets his comeuppance. As for Rae’s mom, I’ve pretty much given up on her. I’m not sure if she’s just lazy or needs the hell D.J. puts her through, but she isn’t doing right by her daughter, and I hate that. I also don’t understand D.J.’s sudden interest in all things Rae. Sometimes. It’s a little weird, and without knowing more, I’m not sure what to do with the information. I loved the relationship and character development in this book. I feel like I connected so much easier with everyone and their emotions. That said, I was a little frustrated because it felt that a lot of things were repeated over and over. I could have done without the cutesy cheesiness of Michael and Aly’s relationship. It was just a little too sweet when running parallel to Clint and Rae’s relationship. I mean, they freaked over holding hands. I could see that in book one, but by this one, they should be over it. The writing in Promise Me flowed well, and didn’t fall into the same cheesy drama as the end of book one, which I am forever grateful for. I was engaged until the last word, chewing my nails with the anxiety of what would happen next. And with that emotional cliffhanger, I’ll be impatiently awaiting the third and final installment to Clint and Rae’s story.

Before you can read Promise Me, you HAVE to have read book #1: Play With Me because this book literally picks up where the first one ended. Promise Me is also another cliff hanger and a heart wrenching one at that. In this book, we watch Cliff try to heal from the attempt made on his life. He finds a motherly figure in his step-mom, who finally steps up for him as an adult should. Michael and Allison show Clint what true friendship is about. I feel with Clint finally feeling and seeing these people have his back that he matures greatly through the whole book. I could not believe how this book ended as this cliff hanger was even more insane than book #1. I can’t wait for the final book in this trilogy to come out, so hopefully I can understand Cliff’s mindset and hope that the way I want the different stories and characters turn out the way I want them to. You have to read this book to see what happens and I know you will be anxiously awaiting book #3 also.

Everything I was waiting for! I loved seeing the relationship between Clint and Cecelia become more of a parental relationship than a dads trophy girlfriend. He needed someone to take that role of caring for him and it was so great to see her start to get a backbone and show her maternal side ! Now if only Raes mom will get that backbone! I was increasingly frustrated with his father!! That ending was exactly what needed to happen but it’s killing me to know the rest!! I seriously just love this series! Rebels writing has quickly become one of my favorites. Now everyone go read this series while I not so patiently wait for book 3!

Rae and Clinton, geez, these two, they are so everything to each other. This dives right into where book 1 left off. This is a total page turner. I am loving how Clinton is now seeing what having people care about you, real friends in your corner. Clinton is coming around and wants more things out of life. Near death experience changes his whole perspective and he’s trying really hard to recover, get strong and needs Rae with everything he has.

Emotional, and steamy! 4.5 Stars
This is the second book in the Diamond in the Rough series, and the continuation of Clint, and Rae’s story. We are taken on a ride, full of twists, and turns, and emotional highs, and lows, as we follow Clint, and Rae through this book. Clint still has to deal with his awful father, but his relationship with Rae is getting stronger, and steamier, and things with them seem to be improving. But just as things seem to be great, we are thrown a curve ball, and we end on a crazy cliffhanger. Can these two get their happy ending? This book is very well written, the characters are well developed, have great chemistry, and keep my interest. Great read, it’s emotional, passionate, steamy, intense, twisted, and entertaining!!! 4.5 Stars

Wow this book gave me whiplash!
I was so happy for our lead characters and the growth we saw in this book. Their relationship developed into something deeper and the minor characters played a more important part in the storyline.
I will say I enjoyed this book however not as much as the first. It seemed to drag a bit in the middle but I think that was because it was necessary to build up to the ending of this book SPOILER ALERT
– Cliffhanger ending As well as what the next book in the series will bring! It better be good! That ending man ! Ugh

Desperation clings to the night like a heartbeat does to life. Nothing matters but saving him like he saved her.
Bravery and courage go hand in hand to bring him back to her. Hope and love give him strength to fight for tomorrow.
A guy like him and a girl like her were born to be free together, to ride the waves until the sea calmed but is it as simple as that…
What an explosive beginning and ending! Rebel hart is on fire with this trilogy!!

Raelynn is everything you would want in a girlfriend. There in good times and bad, and always with pure intentions. Shes amazing!
Clinton or Clint as he prefers to be called is the wounded soldier. He needs love and kindness, help and patience.
His character has calmed down alot in this book. No longer the bully but the victim of his heart.
I loved seeing his soft and tender side, that was brought out through love. Beautiful!
My heart aches for both of the characters. They both deserve so much more than what they have.
I cant wait for the last book in this trilogy! In my mind they will get their happily ever after, but time will tell!

The previous book left me hanging on a major cliff !!! So, of course, I couldn’t wait to jump into this one and see what was gonna happen next. I definitely started this one on the edge of my seat already… Normally there is a bit of a build-up, but with where the previous book left us, I didn’t expect anything less…
Things did calm down though and I think with all that has happened in the first book, that it wasn’t so bad to have a bit of a slower pace in this one. I also very much enjoyed getting to know certain characters more…especially Cecilia and of course Clint. I also wouldn’t mind for certain characters to be pecked to death by chickens…like Clint’s dad !!
Clint and Rae have come a long way already and they have definitely grown…relationship-wise and personality-wise. But of course, things can’t just stay as they are… And so we are left with another cliffy that makes me want to pull my hair out !!
The next book is already up for pre-order so the wait shouldn’t be too long…

Promise me is the second book in the Diamond in the rough series and it didn’t disappoint at all! We start at the begging right where book two ended. In this book we get to learn more about Clint and his home, see more of his father’s a**h*** ways, and we also see his step mom Cecilia show more strength in this book. She has to have it to deal with Clint’s father.
Im not sure if its due to the incident at the end of bk1 and beginning of bk2 that has me seeing Clint in a different light and also has him acting different but Clint really started to mature and change the way he handled things so much so that not only was it noticeable to Rae but to others around him. Rae also continues to be her strong self and fight along side him for everything and anyone she believes in.
Everything seems to be going well all around for Clint and Rae even her friends are more accepting of there relationship and begin to consider Clint as there friend as well. In the end though Rebel pulls the rug out from under our feet and leaves us with our jaws on the ground and hearts in our throats. I have my fingers crossed that in book 3 things are fixed once again and I hope I can feel that my heart didn’t get riped out at the end of this book….
Overall I loved this book and can’t wait to see what Rebel has planed for us. I received this book in return for an honest review and in my opinion you will not want to miss out on this great series.

Promise Me is the follow up to Rebel Hart’s debut novel Play With Me, and I promise you will not be disappointed by this book.
We catch up with Rae and Clint right where book number 1 left off with Clint going over the railing into the water below. We see just how far Rae is willing to go when someone she cares for is in trouble. It is a true testament to her character just how caring she is even when the world keeps throwing her down.
We get to see Clint and Rae’s relationship grow, and progress from being in the dark to going public. Michael and Allison come around to warming up to Clint, and start to better understand just how he came to be the bully he has been. We also get to see more sparks between Allison and Michael as their friendship continues to blossom.
This book takes a closer look into Clint’s home life, and what things are like for him. I loved getting to see a new side to Clint, and how he interacts with his step-mom. The ending of the book definitely took me by surprise, and has left me waiting on the edge of my seat for more! Rebel Hart writes as if she has always been an author, and this is only the beginning of a great career!

I recieved an ARC of Promise Me, and oh my soul. First off, I hate Howard, Clint’s father. He is a real piece of scum. I do however, love the fact that in the book Clint and his stepmother Cecilia discovered a stronger connection than in the first book. She seems to truly love and accept him as her own. The journey that Rae and Clint have been on this far, is unbelievable! The strength that Clint has to continue forward is astonishing. I believe that the friendships and bonds that Clint makes with Michael and Allison will be good for him. Especially since he is not recieving the care and affection at home from his own father. That ending though…..I can’t wait to see where Rebel Hart decides to take the story after THAT cliffhanger!

Spoilers at the end of the review! I read this as an ARC as well.
Now, this book was harder for me to get into because of the almost nonexistent action, but it was needed in order to see Clint and Cecelia’s relationship grow and learn more about her. (Side note-Maybe it’s because I’ve been reading some taboo stuff, but it almost comes across as them flirting with one another at some points. Wouldn’t be opposed to a little fling for the drama of that aspect in the third book honestly. Lol.) Overall, it was still a good read and I’m excited to see where Rebel takes the next installment.
Promise Me takes place immediately after the accident happens with Clint and goes through this recovery. While there isn’t much action in this book; we learn more about Cecilia and her past. How she was raised very conservatively and that she desperately loves Clint’s dad and his hoping he changes for Clint. Rae keeps Clint focused in school and her friends accept Clint, making him feel welcome, respected and loved amongst them. After identifying the kids who tried to run Clint off the road; Clint has to decide if he wants to press charges or not. Making Rae frustrated with having to decide. Rae and Clint talk and hang out and Rae has to get called into work; Clint goes home and sees his father abusing Cecilia and decides to stand up to him once and for all getting into a fight. Rae after her shift goes to Clint’s house and sees the end of the fight and tries to break them up. Clint tells Rae he can’t do it anymore, breaking off their relationship at the end of the second book.
