Lisa Jones Baker has given us the final tale in the Hope Chest of Dreams series, Promise At Pebble Creek, by sharing Hannah and Marcus’ story with us.
This is such a wonderful, well-written story. Marcus has family issues and flees to Pebble Creek from Chicago, his brothers, and their life of crime. He has no idea as to why he has come to this little town, but after finding a new life in Christ, he knows God has a reason for him to be there.
Shortly after entering the town, he stops at Amish Edibles to pick up peanut butter, jelly and bread to make sandwiches for him to take to his new job that just happens to be working for Hanna’s brother. This is the beginning of a new friendship.
Marcus ends up renting a cottage from Ben and he quickly becomes entwined with the Lapp family.
As time progresses we are reminded of stories of Pebble Creek and the people that have become a part of our lives because of this series.
The question remains, can Marcus give us things dear to his past to embrace a future with Hannah and her beloved family and community.
You will be unable to put down this last and best of the Hope Chest of Dreams series.
I was given an ARC by the author for an honest review. I am happy to give Promise At Pebble Creek a 5-star endorsement.
4.5 Stars
Promise at Pebble Creek is the sixth book in Lisa Jones Baker’s Hope Chest of Dreams series. It follows the love story of Hannah Lapp and Marcus Jackson. Hannah is a kind, cheerful, and family-oriented young woman. She works at her family’s store, Amish Edibles, and secretly enjoys reading and writing adventure stories. When Englischer Marcus Jackson moves to Pebble Creek, the two form an instant friendship. Marcus fled Chicago before his brothers’ life of crime ruined his future. He has recently accepted Christ into his life and wants to serve him as faithfully as he can. He ends up renting a place on Hannah’s family land and becomes great friends with her brother Ben. Meanwhile, the friendship between Hannah and Marcus is turning into love, but can they have a future together? They both turn to God for help and guidance as they decide what to do about their relationship.
This is a sweet and heartwarming Amish romance of having faith and trusting God for the next step. The story is well-written, easy to read, and has a good pace. This was my first time visiting Pebble Creek, and I instantly fell in love with the charming and peaceful countryside setting and enjoyed learning about the roles the other characters played in making Pebble Creek the magical place it is today. Hannah and Marcus are both wonderful characters and you can’t help but root for them. I thought Hannah’s love of adventure novels added a fun layer to the story. I also really liked the friendship between Ben and Marcus. Ben really supported him and helped him grow in his new faith.
Overall, I thought this was a wonderful read with a powerful message woven into it. I look forward to spending more time in Pebble Creek.
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Promise at Pebble Creek by Lisa Jones Baker is the 6th novel in the Hope Chest of Dreams series. This book can be read as a standalone if you are new to the series. This is a sweet Amish story about faith, love, and trusting God. I thought the story contained good writing with friendly characters. The book was easy to read, and it moved along at a good pace. I liked Hannah Lapp who loved to read adventure stories and began writing one. Marcus Jackson is a kind man who recently found Christ. He wants a fresh start that takes him away from his troublesome brothers. I like that Marcus is trying to follow his heart as directed by his mother before her passing. Marcus and Hannah have an instant connection. Unfortunately, Hannah is Amish and Marcus, while a Christian, is an Englischer. There are only three solutions to this problem. What path does God have planned for Marcus and Hannah? Someone robbed the local bakery, and it has the community up in arms. Marcus is a suspect as the newcomer to the area. Hannah knows that he would not commit the crime, but how does she prove it? Promise at Pebble Creek is a sweet, heartwarming story. Faith and relying on God were two of the big elements in this tale. We can plan all we want, but we do not know that is the path God has planned for us. We need to pray and rely on Him. I liked that Hannah and Marcus had deep faith. They both prayed to God for guidance and help. Hannah’s shades of blue quilt sounded beautiful. The author gave us vivid descriptions of it. It was nice to return to Pebble Creek with its lovely vista. It is a special place that has touched many couples in the area. It was great the way Hannah’s brother, Ben supported Marcus. Ben became a good friend to Marcus and helped him on his faith journey. I loved the epilogue that nicely wrapped up the book. I am sorry that this is the end of the series. I like how Sam’s hope chests played a part in each tale including this one. Each hope chest is a work of art. Promise at Pebble Creek is a touching Amish tale with an alarming robbery, a cherished hope chest, a kindhearted newcomer, an exquisite quilt, an imaginative jelly maker, and firm faith.
Promise at Pebble Creek by Lisa Jones Baker.
Another great book by Lisa Jones Baker, Promise at Pebble Creek, was such a fun book to read! I loved the plot and characters as well as the bit of suspense the author added to the story! Lisa Jones Baker is definitely on my list of favorite Amish authors. Every book in this series just gets better and better!
While this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a stand alone book.
I received a copy of this book from the author, but was not required to give a positive review. This is my honest opinion of this book.
The final book in the Hope Chest series brings us the story of Hannah and Marcus. The story teaches us that no matter what forgiveness is better and not to judge someone over their past. You will not be disappointed in this last book. I received this book for free and I am under no obligation to leave a positive review. My review is my own .
This book was fast reading. As all always I didn’t want to put down the simple way the Amish live is so refreshing. A must read if you like Amish books.
I loved Lisa Jones Baker’s Hope Chest series. It is filled with endearing characters and realistic plot conflicts. This final book explores a growing friendship between a young Amish woman and an Englisch newly Christian man. Romantic relationships between the Amish and outsiders are highly discouraged so a decision must be made that could affect many lives. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to new novels from Lisa Jones Baker.
This is a well written book that holds your attention. It’s a sweet heartwarming story about Hanna and Marcus and how they fell in love. This book was a joy to read. Thank you Kensington Books/Zebra via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
Promise At Pebble Creek ( Hope Chest of Dreams #6 )
By: Lisa Jones Baker
Promise At Pebble Creek is book six in the series of Hope Chest of Dreams. I love the story and the characters, both were well written and well developed. This is Hannah and Marcus story. Hannah is an Amish country girl who lives for adventure and loves to meet new people. Marcus is a new comer to Pebble Creek and she is fascinated with his. There are some strange things that start to happen in Pebble Creek. This story is believe in God and second chances. I was not disappointed . This is a clean heartwarming story .
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
Promise at Pebble Creek is the 6th book in this heartwarming series. I have enjoyed each of the novels but this one was my favorite because the characters were instantly likeable and the storyline was so sweet. Hannah Lapp is a happy, kind young lady who manages the Lapp family store that is a tourist attraction in her Amish Community. She is also a huge fan of adventure novels but that’s kind of a hush-hush thing because it’s not really something her family and community engage in. I thought hat added a fun twist to the storyline.
I love how fascinated Hannah is with the Englischer clientele who shop there but there is one Englischer in particular who really catches her eye named Marcus Jackson. Only Marcus isn’t just a random customer, he is a new resident. This is a tender story as their friendship blossoms and as they get to know each other and discover what they both want in life.
Overall, I thought this was a sweet novel of faith and new beginnings. It’s a quick read and perfect to take you away to a wonderful community where you’re sure to meet down to earth characters who will seem like friends.
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was under no obligation to write a positive review. All opinions are completely my own.
