What if you accidentally fell in love with the right guy?Andy:If my life was a movie, I would be the sidekick. Not an especially promising start when my plan is to finally let my best friend know I have a crush on him. No worries, though. I have a plan. I just need a complete makeover. Change everything about myself so that when Falcon returns from his summer vacation, he can finally see I’m the … finally see I’m the love of his life. I totally know what I’m doing here.
Well, not really.
If I knew what I was doing, I wouldn’t look like every nerd cliché wrapped into one awkward package.
In short, I’m screwed.
But then Law Anderson enters the picture…
Law:
It’s all very simple. I need somebody to tutor my hockey team, and Andy needs somebody to help him with his crush. Sounds like a match made in heaven.
Only the more time I spend with Andy, the more I like this quirky guy who makes me laugh, and pretty soon I’m the one who’s tutoring Andy in way more than we initially agreed upon.
It’s fine.
I have it all under control.
But as weeks pass and the chemistry between us turns explosive, I’m starting to think that I might be in way over my head with Andy.
If only I could make Andy realize that he doesn’t need to change himself for love. If only I could make Andy see that he just needs to be with somebody who has considered him perfect all along…

Wowza, Briar Prescott is an author to watch! I SAID: don’t sleep on this talented writer, ok babes? Ok good Anywhoooo:
I loved, adored, enjoyed, devoured “Project Hero” and I did not want it to end. Funny, sexy, different MCs with mad chemistry & hilarious dialogue melded together seamlessly and nothing felt… forced, trite, or fake. It was a breath of fresh air to read, & I experienced a sort of “Goldilocks: Jussst right” vibe as I ignored my real world responsibilities (Screw 2020… Just screw it ) and happily immersed myself into this atypical MM New Adult Romance.
The supporting cast REALLY needs chance at center stage in love stories of their own…HINT HINT, Briar dearest ). Also, confession time: I immediately bought Briar’s lastest novel (“Rare”) even though times are hard right now. (Hey now, quit judging me for maintaining a legal vice in 2020… That’s just plain heartless… For shame!)
One more thing: As of 10/5/20, this author has two published novels under their belt and is BEYOND ready for the big leagues & bestsellers lists. So much so, that I could almost swear that Briar Prescott was an experienced, veteran author with previous works published under different pseudonyms. Ok, fellow readers, please holla @ your girl in comments below if my suspicions are correct , or just dead wrong . If I’m right, I’d give an ovary (or two) for Briar’s back-catalog. Just sayin’.
So the moral of this story is… I command thee to read “Project Hero” by Briar Prescott. You may thank me later, my obedient subjects Better yet, thank me by voting in every local & national election! Yeah, GO VOTE, then buy this book & read it as a reward! Do it for me, your humble Queen of Smut Ok, ok fine…le sigh… do it for your nation Bravo & 5 stars to Briar, and as for you? YOU’RE WELCOME, you sexy thang!
This is such a sweet love story between two guys! Andy is adorable in his geekyness; awkward in a lot of situations, but once in a while willing to try new things. He’s funny and often has an appropriate response, even if he’s not aware of it. Law is caring and supportive in everything he does. He’s trying to make Andy see that he’s perfect just the way he is, that he doesn’t need to change. I love both characters!
I’ve been laughing out loud several times during reading, and otherwise had a stupid grin on my face. I didn’t want it to end, but at the same time I couldn’t stop reading. The only thing I might “complain” about is the very detailed sex scenes. It’s justified though, so I can’t really complain, and there’s always the option to skim those parts if one wants to.
I received an ARC of this book and I’m so glad I did!

“Do you know what I see when I look at you?” he asks in between kisses.
I shake my head, unable to form words as he flicks his tongue over my nipple and scrapes it with his teeth. My hips punch up. “I see somebody I’m very attracted to. Somebody I want to touch. Somebody I want to kiss. Somebody I want to see with my hands all over him.”
This book is about Andy, the nerdy sidekick who has a crush on his best friend Falcon. He realizes that he NEEDS to change so that his best friend will fall in love with him; that’s when he comes up with a plan he calls Project Hero.
And Lawrence (Law), a former hockey player who suffers from Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a heart condition in which the heart muscle becomes abnormally thick. He also is in need of a physics tutor for his former failing teammates and wants Andy to do it—because he wants the best tutor and that is Andy—but in order to convince him, he decides to help him with Project Hero.
I really enjoyed this book! It was very well-written and the characters were great; I loved Andy’s sense of humor and sarcasm. I also loved Law, he was so goddamn irresistible and funny and smart and great. They had a great chemistry, the bed scenes were good and the epilogue was *chefs kiss*.
However, I didn’t like how the story was rushed. I wanted more backstory on Law and the relationship with his parents and how he deals with his condition. I also wanted more of Falcon, it felt that he was just there so the book could have a story. But overall, it was a good book but I won’t read it again.

Nerdy science guy Andy has a crush on his best friend, college basketball hero Falcon. Unfortunately Falcon treats him more like a younger brother. During summer break Andy decides to change his style so his crush will see him as boyfriend material.
Good luck with that! 😉
Hockey jock Law may be able to help him in exchange for tutoring his team in freshman physics.
This just did it for me, the humor, the chemistry, the characters, the whole story – I even forgive a somewhat lame final “revelation”. These guys were just so funny and cute!
Andy and Law are so damn cute and adorable! I really enjoyed Project Hero and it very well written. I’m a sucker for all these tropes!
Friends with benefits
Friends to lovers
Nerd/Jock
Funny Banter
Law and Andy are perfect together and I really loved watching them unknowingly fall for each other. It’s written in dual POV and has no significant angst. If you’re looking for a hilarious and cute love story, I’d definitely recommend this one!
Also the epilogue is one of my favourites!!
This book is awesome, Andy and Law are amazing together!! I highly recommended this book!
Absolutely wonderful book! Read it in one sitting. Wholeheartedly recommend it! Thumbs up, Author, keep up with the good work!
This story is so much fun! I enjoyed it the whole way through! There was humor, angst, slow burn and love.
When someone has been a part of your life for a long time you can confuse love with in love and this story show us that those are truly different types of loving a person!
Our men are so cute together and build from a “business” relationship to a friendship to more.
I loved it so much!
I’m a little behind the curve on this one, but this was so good! Sweet, funny, witty, and ultimately, very romantic. Great new adult book set in college where a nerdy guy wants to re-invent himself to draw the attention of his best friend. I love me some a nerdy. dorky characters, so this was perfect.
I loved Andy and Law so much that I could continue to read about them forever. Andy and his serious but funny personality meshed so well with Law’s carefree but caring personality. I normally don’t read college romances because they normally end on a happily for now but Briar Prescott fulfilled my dreams and actually gave us a happily ever after which yes I loved. I have adored both books I’ve read by Briar Prescott, the depth and variety of the writing is fantastic. I highly recommend this book as well as Rare.
The snarky banter lures you, but sweet adorable awkwardness keeps you until the last word of the great epilogue.
Andy is awkward and socially inept. He has never really felt like he measures up and doesn’t let anyone see the real Andy. He has also convinced himself that he is in love with his best (only) friend. He starts Project Hero to overhaul himself.
Law is great looking, an athlete, and a kind guy. He is also the assistant hockey coach. His team is failing physics needs a tutor, and Andy is outstanding at physics. Andy and Law reach a deal. Andy will provide tutoring, and Law will help create a new and improved Andy.
Thus begins a sweet and snarky journey not to be missed. Andy’s family is icing on the cake. I wished our time with them had been longer. I look forward to reading more of Prescott’s work in the future.
A lovely, low angst, opposites attract college nerd-jock romance. This book popped up in the new releases list and I decided to revisit my love for the opposites attract trope. I wasn’t disappointed.
I loved Andy’s character and completely related to him on every level- his quirkiness, his anxiety, need to show off and even the messy, curly, untamable hair ( I swear it’s a pain). Loved the physics references and the way Law’s character complimented Andy in every way.
Considering this is the author’s debut attempt, very well done indeed.
Overall, if you are looking for a low angst, meet cute, a little romcom read, I’ll suggest you give this one a try.
Briar Prescott is a new author and for a first book, this one is impressive. I enjoyed reading about Andy, who is brilliant, funny, and memorable but thinks he’s a typical nerd who isn’t on the radar of anyone. When Law, a hockey coach who needs to get his players eligible to play next season, seeks out Andy as a tutor for them. But what starts out as a quid pro quo turns into a solid friendship. Their solid friendship then becomes more.
I absolutely loved this book. Andy is so funny and when he meets Law, who he thinks is a typical jock, he doesn’t want anything to do with him. He also thinks he’s in love with his childhood best friend. And when his friend goes back home for the summer, Andy thinks it’s the perfect time to become someone his friend can fall in love with. But Law throws a wrench in things as they get along so well.
This is a great read full of quips and a solid relationship between opposites. I absolutely loved it and highly recommend this book. I can’t wait for more from this author!!
Absolutely Delightful! Law, is a hockey addict who has been sidelined by a health condition. So, he chose coaching as a workable alternative. His parents have spent their live trying to dissuade his passiona and commitment, with no success. He befriends Andy who is in love with his best friend Falcon Asola. Falcon took him under his wing and became his protector. Falcon appears oblivious to Andy’s feelings. They are going to spend their summer break separated for the first time. Andy considers himself, the sidekick. So, he is going to make himself over into the hero, so he can be ‘worthy’? He accidently enters a friendship with Law. Law drags Andy into a physical fitness regime and into tutoring his hockey team who are failing physics. Andy is predesposed to stage fright. Law accidentally finds a way to get Andy comfortable in front of an audience. Law starts finding Andy adorable. Andy finds Law easy to talk to and be around. Sounds like a move is about to happen? Will Falcone care? Will he notice? Can Andy put Falcon in the friend place for good? Will Law work out his career preference with his family? Really good story! All the characters really stand out. Good spacing. Good storyNicely done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Andy is the ordinary (so he thinks), studious guy in love with his best friend, Falcon. When a gorgeous hockey player asks (sorta forces) him into tutoring his team in exchange for giving Andy a makeover to help attract Falcon, neither of them figured they’d fall for each other.
Project Hero reminds me of one of those teen movies like She’s All That, except it’s more adorable and hotter. Both guys are absolute sweethearts and their chemistry, though slow burn, is electric to go along with the sweet, charming leads. I will definitely be on the lookout for much more from this author!
This is an entertaining story with strong characters and a sweet story line. I enjoyed reading Andy and Law’s story and loved the snarky banter between them as they go from kind of enemies to friends to lovers and so much more. The author does a great job building their relationship adding humor and steam along the way. I had quite a few laughs and was hooked from start to finish. The story moves quickly and smoothly with vividly painted scenes. I enjoyed reading their story.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
I absolutely love this book from beginning to end. This is such a beautifully written true to life story with likable characters. I couldn’t put it down, it’s so sweet and refreshing with all the feels. Andy may have a thing for his neighbor and best friend, Falcon, but it takes him talking to Law that he really starts to blossom. Law needs Andy to help tutor some of the hockey teams players in physics. Andy reluctantly agrees and so starts their journey. I love Andy and Law together they’re so good for each other.
This is definitely a story to enjoy again and again I highly recommend it and I can’t wait for more from this author.

Andy has been in love with his best friend Falcon for years…but Falcon doesn’t know how he feels so Andy devises a plan: “Project Hero.” Law is a hockey coach and he seeks out Andy to tutor his team. Andy is hesitant at first but eventually concedes. But not only is Andy helping Law, Law promises to help Andy become the perfect boyfriend so maybe after all this time Andy can finally be with Falcon. However, Andy might be developing feelings for Law and that was definitely not part of his plan.
I loved, loved, loved this book! This book has the somewhat of a fake boyfriend trope/ and friends-to-lovers and it’s just a great fast paced story that keeps you on your toes, your heart swooning and your fingers tingling with all the chemistry between the main characters.
The character development was phenomenal in this book. After reading the book flap, I was kind of expecting Law to be the quintessential jock but this is NOT the case at all. Law is down to earth, sweet and so in touch with his feelings. Just writing this review makes me want to read this book all over again. Andy is your typical awkward, shy nerdy type but Law complements his character and helps draw him out his shell. It’s so amazing to read because both these characters build off of each other it just feels so right.
I loved this book and highly recommend giving it a chance!
As a huge fan of hockey (go Blackhawks), I will read pretty much any hockey type book. I liked this story. Its a new to me author. Well written and great storyline and characters. Can’t wait to check out what else they have written.

I loved this story. I want to hug the characters so hard. Andy was looking for a way to change himself, desperate for his best friends attention. Law needed Andy to help his teammates. Why not help each other? What differs the characters from the other I’ve read is their sarcastic banter and the quick wits. Super enjoyable and their romance, and journey to love is awful sweet. It left me with a good feeling in my heart.
