I have been reading Hazel’s books for some time now and I must say they are getting better with each book. Not that I think she has ever written a bad book, I love them all.
This story is about Kellan and Sadie. Not the pair you think they would make.
Kellan has graduated from college and is now teaching at the same school. His brother Carter and his girlfriend Nina are still in school and Carter belongs to the same fraternity that Kellan belonged to. So the three of them still hang out quite a bit.
Sadie is Nina’s cousin and she has seen her share of trouble at school. She is on her last chance before she gets kicked out of college. It is her Senior year and she has to behave herself. What fun is that?
Sadie shows up at the frat house to hang out with Nina and Carter and in walks a man she has never met. They end up spending the night talking with each other and Sadie gets a little too drunk and throws up on his shoes. Kellan for some reason can’t take his mind off her and it doesn’t even upset him that she threw up on his shoes.
Imagine Sadie’s surprise when she walks into class the next day and her Professor is the same man she threw up on the night before.
I am afraid to go on and give away any spoilers. This book is a really great read. Even though it is labeled a stand-alone I would strongly suggest reading them in order so you can get all the inside information.
I somehow missed that Hazel had added to her Beta Brother’s series. I really enjoyed the first two, so I was excited to continue. Unfortunately, this wasn’t my favorite. I liked it, it was fun but it didn’t completely hold my interest. I would still recommend reading it, it was sweet and steamy.
Sadie was not your run of the mill girl, she had a hardened heart and wasn’t looking for love. But when Kellan kept coming around, would her heart start to soften?
Kellan knew pursuing Sadie wasn’t exactly right but something about her kept pulling him to her. When his job was in jeopardy would he choose his career or her?
Like I said, I enjoyed it but it wasn’t my favorite by any means from Hazel. I am still looking forward to reading the next book!!
”I love the taste of your crazy.” Review of Professor with benefits.
Professor Kellan Montgomery is a young professor who is finishing his last scientific project at university. His younger brother Carter invites him to an on-campus fraternity party to unwind and forget about work. Kellan agrees and meets Sadie at the party. They are immediately attracted to each other and flirt relentlessly. All goes well until Sadie throws up a rainbow cocktail consisting of Vodka and skittles all over Kellan’s shoes. Sadie is instantly embarrassed and has to leave the party. What she doesn’t know is that Kellan is already in and wants to know Sadie better. The next time they see each other is as student and Professor. Sadie and Kellan try to deny their attraction knowing it can not go anywhere b/c they are Professor and study until it gets to be too much for Kellan who takes the reins and begins the secret love affair. Sadie teases him at first pretending she doesn’t want Kellan as much as he wants her but then finally gives in even though she is scared Kellen might reject her when he finds out the truth. This is the third book in the Beta Brothers series. It can be read as a standalone. I truly loved this book. It was fun to read, heartwarming, sweet, and funny. It was fast-paced and held my interest throughout the book. When I read the blurb. My first thought was ”Not another Professor/student sex-fest with a lonely nineteen-year-old wide-eyed buxom virgin etc. Etc. Lol. Then I read the blurb again and realized this one is different. I liked that Sadie. ( the student) was more of a world-weary College senior. She was in therapy b/c of a serious event that happens in her immediate family. (no spoilers). I also liked how Kellan was mature. He didn’t just want Sadie for hot sex. He wanted more. Kellan wanted a relationship with Sadie. He loved her crazy No matter what. She was a self-proclaimed train wreck but Kellan loved her anyway. He wanted to help her with her education and her life. It kind of had a fairy-tale feeling about it but I loved it anyway. Lol. I will definitely read the last two of this series by this author. She has a new fan. I received this as an ARC from Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed “Professor with Benefits” by Hazel Kelly. I received a complementary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, but I would have gladly paid full price. This is a continuation of a great series and I was completely blown away by the true depth of this story. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover… this book seems like just another rinse and repeat of the professor/student genre – but this book is so much more. It’s dark in places…and really gets at some raw emotions within the story line.
I will certainly look twice at this author and the other books in this series. I would definitely recommend adding this book to your collection.
Happy Reading…enjoy!
Kellan and Sadie, two damaged people who find themselves undeniably drawn to each other on a chemical level. Their attraction complicated by him being her Professor and her being on the university’s shit list. Their personal histories are compelling and their developing relationship is riveting. I decided to read this book on a whim and I absolutely do not regret. I look forward to reading more by this gifted author.
I was hooked from the beginnin till the end I couldn’t wait to read Sadie’s story. She had that mysterious side of her. You could feel the pain that Sadie was in. But during her darkest days Kellan was able to set her free. We watched Kellan and Sadie grow as individuals and as a couple. Professor with Benefits won’t be easy on the heart so have some tissues nearby.
“There was nothing safe about the way I wanted her.”
This was a love at first sight kind of story, Sadie and Kellan met at a college frat party, he was the brother of her friend Carter and Sadie being a cousin to Carter’s girlfriend Nina.
Sadie was struggling as a college student due to her family circumstances, and her own mental health kept her dressing in black and portraying a, “I don’t give a damn attitude.”
Kellan has gone through his own hell, and wasn’t looking for, “The girl I was about to lose my mind over.”
“Hell, for all I knew, she as a dangerous temptress sent by nefarious parties to make my life impossible.”
“She amused me like a stick of dynamite would amuse me, which was to say I couldn’t even think about anything else when she was in the room.”
Excellent writing and dialogue made this book a pleasure to read and I really did feel for both these characters while they struggled with finding themselves in each other.
Only my second Hazel Kelly book and will not be my last.
I loved the dialogue with this book. It was not really what I had expected when I started reading. This definitely is not your average smut/forbidden love book. Yes it is hot, but I truly loved everything about this book.
