I loved this book. The characters were so well-written, their emotional struggles were so heart felt. I love Daddy kink. The moments where Hagen finally had an understanding of who he truly wanted to be for Baxter were the best. I must admit that first part of the book Hagen was a total snob with attitude. The high horse he was riding on needed to be put to pasture pronto. It took Baxter’s complete and utter exhaustion for Hagen to see how wrong he was. After that day he finally saw his own failings and started on right track. I liked his dedication to Baxter’s care and all the ways he showed his affection.
Baxter got the short end of the stick. The man who was supposed to be there for him left him high and dry after using him for years. Now Baxter is barely surviving. It’s a tough world out there if you are alone, and there is no one in Baxter’s corner. When a job for dating agency brings him face to face with his sexy history professor, he can’t believe that the sophisticated man can like and be with someone like him – a man struggling with his life. It takes awhile for Baxter to see his own worth, just how smart he is and everything he can give Hagen as his boy.
I loved how they both dove into the relationship once they got past the misunderstandings. It was hot, sweet, tender and all kinds of adorable. It was steamy, mild angst kinky romance with mention of BDSM elements (nothing too heavy – just light teasing). I loved how constant both men were, how devoted they became to each other. The club scene was out of this world. I loved the ending – it was awesome. My first time reading Nora Phoenix’s work, and it won’t be the last.
Yes!!!!
I am a big fan of this author and of books with a BDSM theme. These two together have made the perfect read. What makes this one even better is how it’s not your usual example of this type of relationship. That’s what I love to see. With so many kinks and a person’s own take on them, it’s great to see an author show how they can be individualized to suit the relationship and the partners’ needs. This story shows a blending of two closely related kinks with a twist. I loved every minute of Hagen and Baxter’s romance. And as usual when I finish a Nora Phoenix book, I can’t wait for the next. Wow that was tough to word without spoilers lol.
I love how these two are already drawn to each other before anything begins between them. They both have things that make trust and moving forward difficult and they both suffer at times to protect themselves. They also want to protect the other one with is the mark of a real relationship.
I listened to the audio vision it was well down and the voice seemed to match what I expected from the characters.
Lived this audio book. The MCs were well written and they both started hurt and betrayed. Well worth the read if you like daddy kink.
I chose this book because the title and cover grabbed me. I did not read the blurb to see it was daddy kink or Ds but that doesn’t bother me as I had read several of Nora Phoenix books and know her style fits me. Hot but not squicky. In my opinion a bit on the milder, sweeter side of the kink. I also chose because I love a good age gap and was not disappointed.
The story has a good plotline, is interesting, a bit slow burn but when we do get to the sex it will set you on fire! I loved both characters and watching them develop a relationship both working and then on to more.
I listened to this on audio as I like the hand’s free approach when I can to help chores and stuff fly by and find I prefer to listen to books low on my comfort zone than to read them. Kenneth Obi, as usual, did a great job acting out this story. He just has a way of bringing stories to life. I do wish in this one the characters had a little more distinct voice, but I was still able to follow along just fine.
If you like Daddy kink, mild Ds, large age-gap, teacher-student and an all-over sweet but hot story this is for you.
A SWOON WORTHY READ!!!
Oh my, I think I got a toothache from how sweet this story was. An absolute delighr.
Everything about this read was delightful.
The narration was exceptional. I love the deep baritone of the Dom and the sweet voice of Baxter. I delighted in the dynamic the characters had throughout and was consumed in their obvious love.
Loved it!!!
Thank you!
The chemistry, the raw emotions, it just flowed from every page. It will sweep you up and take you along on their journey. I loved it!
So, no secret here: I’m in love with this series so far. 10 books, 10 authors, 10 totally different takes on my favourite trope. It was going to happen. All three I’ve read so far can definitely be read alone.
This one is longer than the others – a 200+ word novel rather than a novella. Nora Phoenix explains in her post-story message that Hagan and Baxter, the two MCs, wanted a longer book. I’m glad she didn’t try to squeeze it down. Fake boyfriends with Daddy Kink definitely deserved the extra space, and it allowed the dynamic this kind of relationship needs to develop at the right pace.
I loved Baxter, struggling to keep his head above water and get his degree. I really liked Hagan – less than Baxter but you’ve got to have favourites, right? He’s judgy at first but I love how he melts into the caring Daddy role. I liked his friends and Denise, Baxter’s BFF. There’s exes you want to strangle on both sides (I find that having this much anger at a fictional ex who isn’t even mentioned much is a good sign, means the author has properly sucked you in), and some unexpected bits but no big angst, so it’s all focused on the sweet and sexy dynamic evolving between Baxter and Hagan, which Phoenix does brilliantly. Recommended, definitely on my reread list.
