My sister Bianca and I have two rules governing the dispensation of our trust funds.One. I get married first. Two. She gets married second.Neither of us will see a penny until we are both “properly cared for.” My father had a terrible sense of humor.I turn to the only man who can help me. Even when the last time I saw him he said he hated me. Even when I love him as much as I loathe him. Even … much as I loathe him. Even when he’s all wrong.
Liar. Thief. Killer.
Those are just a few words whispered about him in back alleys. To me he’s Pierce, to everyone else, he’s Pierson St. James, local mobster and second in charge of the infamous Wild Dogs.
He may be disreputable, but desperation calls for extreme measures. A long time ago, he promised to marry me. Now I’m going to hold him to that promise.
And we are both going to regret it.
This isn’t your high school Shakespeare…and you’ve never read The Taming of the Shrew like this.
This is a standalone romance with alpha heroes, alpha heroines, and a whole lot of foul language.

Great new take on a classic like only Monica Corwin knows how to deliver. I want more!!
This is a quick read that is twisted in all the right places. The first thing that caught my eye with this is the book cover. Immediately I needed to see what this was about. On a whim I picked up Professional Liar. The characters are in the mafia and Kat is known as ‘The Shrew’. Her father was head of the five families and has passed away leaving this title to Kat. Her father has weaved an intricate web for Kat and her sister, Bianca, to receive their inheritance. Kat does what she knows best and goes about trying to manipulate Pierce into marrying her. The only thing is, they have several problems to overcome. Pierce truly loves Kat and doesn’t want his heart broken again. They also have quite the group of haters as Kat is Italian and Pierce is Irish which makes many people kill happy. While there is a web of lies and deceit ,there is also quite a bit of sassy snark with some very hawt scenes. These two truly are meant to be but both have experienced so much craziness and heartbreak because of their families and past that it is very hard to overcome. Watching the craziness unfold and the insanity that ensues made this an absolute page turner. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.
My first read by this author and I really enjoyed it!
I have not read The Taming of the Shrew (unfortunately), so I can not compare it to this book. But what I do want to say is, I was intrigued – it kept me turning the pages. I was pulled in from the very first chapter.
The heroine was strong & sassy, the Hero so protective and loving, with some sexy tattoos thrown in. <3
This was a quick read with lots of action, drama, and plenty of steam. I will definitely read more from this author.
I received an ARC from Ms. Corwin, and I am writing my honest opinion.
This is a modern twist to Taming of the Shrew. Kat is the Mafia Princess, and Pierce is the Irish Mobster. Kat and Pierce have known and played with each other since their teenage years. When Kat’s father is murdered, Kat and her sister Bianca must marry within the 5 Mafia families in order to receive their inheritance. One stormy night, Kat goes to Pierce’s house to ask him to marry her. Will their lust and love conquer the betrayals or will they tumble head first down the slippery slope?
I enjoyed this book. The characters are well written, and the plot is complete, but it did leave me begging for more. I do hope that Ms. Corwin continues Kat and Pierce’s story as well as Bianca and the other characters. It would be a shame to just have it end. Due to some violence and lusty scenes, I recommend that those 18+ years old read this. Thank you Ms. Corwin for allowing me to read Professional Liar. I highly and thoroughly enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more of your work.
