He’s a (mostly) reformed bad boy. She’s a (mostly) professional woman.Their history together has made having a relationship…problematic. But if they take a chance, can they find a solution – and love?Danny BoyI’ve somehow done the impossible: I got the girl I wanted.Only, I have no idea how to make a lovely person like Amelia Patterson, my former therapist, happy. She’s a respectable woman.I’m a … Patterson, my former therapist, happy.
She’s a respectable woman.
I’m a recovering . . . everything. Just barely getting a life together.
Though she may claim I have something to offer, it’s only a matter of time before she recoils from the reality of what I am.
At least, that’s what the old me – Danny Boy – keeps thinking.
The new me – Daniel – has to figure out how to make this work, even when it turns out Amelia and I want totally different things.
Amelia
I’ve thrown all caution to the wind and decided the fact that I was once Daniel’s therapist is not a big enough deterrent to keep from having a relationship with him.
I never should have crossed that line.
But I took a chance.
Because I couldn’t get him out of my head.
I couldn’t get him out of my heart.
The thing is, for all the work I did with him, and for all the progress he’s made, he’s still incredibly damaged. Is this really what I want? To be with a man who requires so much?
It’s a question I have to figure out, especially when it becomes clear that Daniel and I want totally different things.
This book should be read after reading Looking For Trouble and Felicity Found. The other books in the series (including the Christmas novella) do not have to be read to enjoy this one, but it would definitely enhance the experience!

Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8)
By: Lara Ward Cosio
5 out of 5 stars
The story Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8) by Lara Ward Cosio is an awesome book that I loved reading. It pulls you in right from the beginning and I found myself hooked. I loved reading about Danny Boy and Amelia. Danny Boy is a man that is very attracted to Amelia. He is someone who seems to always think the worst of himself. Amelia is a woman who is looking to take a chance. She can’t get Danny Boy out of her head or her heart. Danny Boy and Amelia’s relationship is complicated. Will they be able to make it work? They find that they both want different totally different things. Will they be able to work things through? What does the future hold for Danny Boy and Amelia? Read this book to find out. I have loved reading about Danny Boy and Amelia ever since they were first introduced to the series. They are characters that I have found myself caring about and want them to be happy. This book had my emotions going up and down right along with theirs. The story also does include some steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. I enjoyed reading about how Danny Boy and Amelia interact with the other characters in the story, many of which have been brought forward from the previous books. Don’t miss out on a story that will have you not wanting to put it down until the last page is finished. This is a story that should be read after reading Looking For Trouble and Felicity Found. Highly recommended reading.
In “Problematic Love,” we get more of Danny Boy’s story, and boy was it worth the wait.
Just like in the other books from the Rogue series, Lara Ward Cosio weaves plots and subplots with practiced dexterity. We not only get to catch up with the rest of these Irish rockers, we get a few special glimpses — wedding bells! — woven in with the story of recovering heroin addict, Danny Boy, and his therapist, Amelia (Ms. Patterson).
Despite the ethical ramifications of having a relationship with a patient, Amelia realizes she’s fallen too hard for Danny Boy to ignore the whisperings of her heart. But when she shows up in America, unannounced and ready to take a chance on Danny Boy, he struggles to accept that he’s worthy.
As Amelia and Danny Boy navigate the twists and turns of their new relationship and begin to forge a path together, they eventually stumble upon a roadblock that they can’t negotiate or compromise on without one of them giving up a part of themselves.
While there were plenty of laugh out loud moments — c’mon, it’s Danny Boy! — there were other times I could feel my heart breaking in two.
With “Problematic Love,” Ms. Cosio has delivered another behind-the-scenes look at the rock stars of Rogue and the people who love them.
I highly recommend this latest book in the Rogue series. If you haven’t started the series yet, grab a copy of “Tangled” (the first book) and get yourself up to speed. You won’t regret it.

Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8) by Lara Ward Cosio
Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8) by Lara Ward Cosio is the eighth book in the Rogue Series and I book I found myself unable to put down once I started reading I had to know what happens next. I found myself to be emotional in some parts and hot and steamy at other times. This is Danny Boy and Amelia’s story. He is a man who is very attracted to Amelia and he’s also a person who tends to think the worst about themselves. She can’t seem to be able to get him out of her heart or her mind. These two have a complicated relationship. Can these two make it work? Do these two have a future together? What happens when they find out they want totally different things? Will they get through it and make it work? Find out what happens next. I highly recommend reading this book and highly suggest reading the previous books as well.

Wow! Just WOW! This is a wonderful story. Danny Boy has been portrayed as a bad boy in the past. Problems? He has them. You name it. Once he conquered a few of them his brain/attitude became the problem. He met the lovely Ms Amelia Patterson. He became Daniel to her. He was always trying to be better (Daniel) but sometimes the Bad boy (Danny Boy) takes over. Not sure if he can reconcile both.
Danny Boy has been one of those characters you love to hate. He really added some trials and tribulations to the previous books. This one shows him in the raw. Trying to come to terms with who he is and where he is at in his life. Many times I *felt* for him watching his struggle. It was interesting being Inside his head.
Amelia has the patience of a saint! Actually that should be added to her title :-). She believes in Danny Boy. Bottom Line. No matter what happens she knows in her heart he will overcome. But she wants something out of life and doesn’t believe Danny Boy is capable of giving it to her. She really is as strong as Sophie! Again I am impressed with her and her choices.
It makes me smile seeing(reading) about these guys again. I realized how much i missed their crazy brotherhood. The relationship between Conor and Gavin, Shay and Danny Boy. They have been through some stuff but still came out the other side and remained friends or brothers.
These guys have all grown up and it was quite the ride but a joy as well.
This is a wonderful read! If you enjoyed the Rogue Series pick this up! If you haven’t..give it a go!
Excellent as usual Lara Ward Cosio!
I have enjoyed every single novel from this series’s so far and this one was no different i fell inlove with this story right from the very start! You cannot read this as a standalone it’s best to read them all right from the start plus trust me they are worth sticking your teeth into! This storyline was brilliant and beautifully written it reeled me in and kept me captivated from start to finish, it took me on a emotional ride at points i was holding back the tears. Danny you really love him but you want to hate him but i feel like with that you feel more connected with him he seems so much more real. I truly enjoyed this novel and i can’t wait to read more from this incredibly talented author!!!
Problematic Love is the eighth novel in the Rogue Series from Lara Ward Cosio, and I would have to say these just keep getting better and better with each book. They could be read as standalones if you really wanted to but I would highly recommend that you go back and start at the beginning with Tangled. The stories do have recurring characters and it is kind of like visiting friends each time you pick up a new one in the series. I just know that you will fall in love with the entire group.
In Problematic Love, Danny Boy’s story continues on a bit in the sense that we now find Amelia and him searching to find their footing in this new relationship that they have managed to forge. When roadblocks come up will the couple’s love be strong enough to withstand it? There is also updates in this book about past fav characters that I adored… maybe even some more angles for new novels to come? I sure can hope! I can’t wait to see whatever it is that Lara Ward Cosio gives us next!

Problematic Love is the eighth book in the Rogue Series by Lara Ward Cosio. The Rogue books are part of a really great Rockstar romance series. These are not your ‘typical’ Rockstar romance stories, there is so much more going on in each book. They are not hearts and flowers romances- as the books delve much deeper, and are somewhat raw and gritty stories that will work their way under your skin.
If you haven’t read the rest of the series, you are seriously missing out. This book needs to be read as part of the series, as there are relevant details and important information contained in previous books which you will need to know in order to fully appreciate what this book has to offer. At the very least, you will need to have read ‘Looking For Trouble’ (Book #5), and ‘Felicity Found’ (Book #6)- as this is the continuation of Danny-boy and Amelia’s story.
Their relationship hasn’t been a bed of roses, as addiction isn’t something that will let you just walk away, never to be heard of again- and loving an (ex) addict isn’t always easy. So, there are struggles, obstacles, and turmoil to deal with- and we witness all the emotionally charged, and sometimes unsettling details and revelations.
As with the other books in the series, this took me on an emotional journey full of all the highs and lows I have come to expect from Ms. Ward-Cosio. This is ‘life’ in its truest form, and Ms. Ward-Cosio didn’t shy away from giving us a warts-and-all experience. There were scenes that made my heart ache, and there were quite a few tears along the way.
Having the characters from the previous books make appearances in this story was great, I love their connection- and it was like revisiting old friends- and I loved catching up with them too.
I am really looking forward to Ms. Ward Cosio’s next book!
Thank you, Ms. Ward Cosio!
Problematic Love by Lara Ward Cosio is the eighth book in the Rogue Series and I hope not the last. I love this group and after eight books I feel like I have a real connection with them even if I’m not married to a rock star.
This is the book about Danny Boy and I’m so glad he got to tell his story to me. Danny Boy has been a drug addict since he was a teenager and quite honestly lucky to be alive and thankfully clean.
He does so much growing up in this book and it makes my heart happy. He deserves all the happiness the world can bestow on him and Amelia helps with that and shows him so much about himself.
As much as the romance between Danny Boy and Amelia is the story, I think this is one that has more than one important storyline. I loved this book and as much as I loved the others in this series I think this is my favorite. Something about Danny Boy that just wrapped around my heart.
Once again Lara Ward Cosio has delivered a fantastic window into the inner workings of our Danny Boy and his attempt at a “normal” relationship with Amelia. This Rogue extra gives us a glimpse into Amelia’s inner struggles to make peace with who she was (and what she did) and what she wants to be while trying to figure out if there could be something more with this enigma we call Danny Boy. Daniel has his moments, but Danny Boy comes out on several occasions. Although his epic f*#k ups are tame in comparison to his past life as an addict… he still finds a way to get pissed drunk and make an a$$ out of himself plenty. Amelia gives herself to him but they hit an impasse when she struggles with wanting a life that Danny Boy can’t give her… and Im glad that she did not settle for less than what her heart truly wants in life. You feel his pain and understand why he feels the way he does… and you can feel her pain in making that tough decision. Partnerships are about compromise and willingness to love each other despite the idiosyncrasies – and boy does Danny Boy have a boat load of idiosyncrasies …. Loved visiting with the rest of the band and watching them fall into line with their new lives, kids and all. How life’s priorities change as you grow, love, and build their families. This Rogue family is something special and I am glad that both Danny Boy and Amelia found themselves included – both together and individually.
My only wish…. More windows into the other members of the band. The first 4 full length books had a nice weaving of alternating perspectives and POVs from each of the band members – and while the books individually focused on each couple, Lara weaved in the members from previous books a bit more intricately. That was something I did not realize how unique and special it was until I read the books for the second time. I love every one of them .. . the characters, the stories, the vivid descriptions of where they are and what they are doing. If you have not started this series yet – DO SO NOW! Starts with Tangled up in YOU and I promise you – you will not be disappointed!
Problematic Love (Rogue #8) by Lara Ward Cosio
5out of 5stars
Problematic Love is the eight book in the Rogue series written by Lara Ward Cosio and I have read all eight books in this series. Ms. Ward has done an outstanding job in writing Danny boy and all of his struggles and what he has overcome. I also loved how she made Amelia go out of her comfort zone. You know the saying opposites attract well this is defiantly Danny boy and Amelia. The characters are well written and I loved their quirks and the way these characters play off of each other.
Danny boy is screw up and he knows it he is a recovering addict and he is barely getting his life together. He has nothing to offer a woman like Amelia. And now he has done the impossible he got the girl. Now he has to figure out how to make a woman like Amelia happy or so he thinks.
Amelia has thrown all caution to the wind and decided the fact that she was once Daniel’s therapist is not a big enough deterrent to keep from having a relationship with him. So she took a chance. Because she couldn’t get him out of my head or her heart.
Is Amelia crazy for taking a chance on such a damaged man? Does she want to be with a man who requires a lot? Will Danny boy’s insecurities destroy any chances with Amelia? Can Danny boy overcome his insecurities? Can they separate the professional relationship from the personal relationship? Is this one of those patient therapist romances or is it the real deal? You will need to read this book in order to find out…
I highly recommend this book/series

Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8)
By Lara Ward Cosio
5 stars
Danny Boy is one of those characters who throughout this whole series has intrigued me, he has definitely had his ups and downs, and some of those downs were particularly low but what I love about him is how he has come through everything and I loved that we got to find out more about him in the second part to his story. The author really has delved into some dark situations with her characters and I do find that I am hanging on her every word, I truly feel like I am living everything with them. The depth of her writing is amazing. I was so excited to catch up with other characters from previous stories too and see what is happening in their lives.
I really don’t want to spoil the story for others but I have to say I was so willing Danny and Amelia to find a way to make their relationship work and for Danny to realise that recovering addicts do deserve a second chance and do deserve a chance at love. There were some very emotional times in the story and some heart-breaking moments which had me reaching for the tissues. This really was an amazing conclusion to Danny Boys troubled life and story.
From book 1 to book 8 I have fallen in love with these characters and I absolutely adore this author. She has written some amazing stories about some wonderful, albeit broken at times, characters who I have truly taken into my heart. I cannot recommend this series enough and I will always look forward to reading more from Lara Ward Cosio in the future!
I loved this book and series! This is not a standalone book, I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series. This is a well written, creative story that kept me turning pages until the end. We get to see Danny Boy and Ameila’s story. They are great characters, Danny Boy is a love to hate character but it makes him real. I love how they pop off the pages. Just when I thought they would get together, life throws something else in their path. Their story is a must read.
It has taken me a while to process this book to be able to write a review. Danny Boy and Amelia started out as Therapist/Ex Drug Addict-Bad Boy in the previously written book Looking For Trouble – book 5 in the insanely great book series The Rogues. If you haven’t read this series, you are missing out on one of the best Rock Series I have ever read and I have read hundreds, but reading Danny’s first book is strongly recommended to fully understand where this one is going.
Ok so here it goes, I wasn’t a fan of Danny & Amelia in this book, until perhaps 2/3rd’s into the story, they were in my opinion toxic. Loving an ex-addict is one of the hardest things to do, and I come to this conclusion by personal experience and it is because Lara writes with an unprecedented gift of reality in her books that I do applaud this. However getting this relationship off the ground was excruciating at times. I went from wanting to throttle Danny to slapping Amelia.
Now to my next issue – Amelia – I am not convinced she is the “one” for Danny. Why Danny latches on to Amelia, or is it the idea of Amelia, maybe due to others surrounding him that now have play dates with their kids instead of bar dates. Danny has never been in any kind of healthy relationship, not even with his brother Shay, who has stood by him through everything. It has taken years for the other band members in Rogue to not want to throttle him for the stupid shit he pulled in the past. So yes Danny is evolving, and his 4 legged faithful companion Roscoe should be credited with most of his growth. Amelia, being a therapist tends to push his buttons, more as someone with no idea how to handle him would, but you see from the first, they only knew each other through sessions and frantic texting on Danny’s part and for this reason Amelia seems to be torn between the ex-therapists role and the girlfriend role. But again this goes to Lara being realistic (there’s that word again, which pops up in every review I have done on her books). Nothing is easy for these two, but by the end I had hope they had a chance and it took the fantastic epilogue to see that yes, they made it.
I have had the pleasure of reading the whole Rogue series and what an amazing pleasure of a ride it has been. All of the characters are so interesting and the series brings us through their lives, their ups, their very low downs, and everything in between.
The boys of Rogue are a close-knit group and the women who love them are the strongest most loyal you’ll find. Even though they aren’t perfect, they suppose their men and are the glue that holds everything together.
Danny Boy has been part of many of the books since he isn’t an actual band member but the brother of drummer Shay. Danny Boy hasn’t always been my favourite with his addiction issues, selfishness, and complete disregard for others and his lack of any common sense. Through the last couple of books I’ve developed a soft spot for Daniel (the new and improved Danny Boy). Author Lara Ward-Cosio starting digging deeper into this character and opened my eyes to a whole new insight about him.
Now he is trying to do better but his reputation precedes him. Can he continue on this path to recovery? Can he have the life and the love he never dreamed he could have and never in a million years thought was possible?
I loved this story. Daniel and Amelia are not your everyday couple and they have lots of problems to sort out before they can even begin a future together. The author didn’t chocolate-coat anything. She took these characters through hell and back. They struggle and they fight for their love all while staying true to themselves. That was the best part about this story and I was in tears as each character made the hard yet necessary choices for their own life.
This was an amazing ending to The Rogue series and I am sad to let all of these characters go. My heart was filled with joy and laughter at the same time as it bled and I sobbed. Seeing Danny Boy come to this point in his life made me smile while my my inner-feelings squeezed my heart. I really enjoyed all the books and I absolutely loved all the Irish brogue 🙂
Lara is an awesome writer and a great storyteller. Now that all 8 books are out, it’s a perfect time to sit back and enjoy everything Rogue.
No Magical Wands Here!!
I finally have Danny Boy and Amelia’s story and it couldn’t have been more perfect for such an imperfect couple. I mean what physicist would date their patient especially one as damaged as Danny Boy was and still is. That’s what makes this story even better because the author didn’t wave a magical wand and everything stopped being bad, she made the story real. Addiction never stops and pasts are always there it’s just how you learn to live with them that make the difference.
Danny Boy and Amelia’s story is one of true love and coming out of the darkness and learning how to actually live a life “normal” people do. I loved how everyone from the Rouge family played such a huge part of this story because I can never get enough of them and I only hope this author will continue to give me the stories I crave from this series.
Make sure you start with book one of this series to really get the true story of the Rouge guys and the women who love them. Each and every book will add just another piece to your heart making it seem full with each one.

Problematic Love
Before making it this far into the series I didn’t see myself a huge fan of Danny Boy, but whoa! WRONG! Such a great story about a man who never believed in himself, who thinks that he will only ever be a bad person, and who truly believes that he’s not worthy of anything good in his life. Yet, with the support of his brother, his friend; who happen to be the members of the famous rock band Rogue, as well as a women whose fell in love with him he finally sees the possibility that he can in fact be so much more.
At book 8 in this series, At the mercy of the mind and hand of this wonderful author, I feel like I am a character in this series going through all of the highs, lows, trials and tribulations with these wonderfully fun, witty, charismatic, romantic, HOT characters!
Problematic Love, book 8 in Lara Ward-Cosio’s Rogue series, is the continuation of Danny Boy and Amelia’s unconventional and seemingly mismatched attraction.
The characters of Danny Boy and Amelia are the kind that stand out and make an impact. Danny Boy left his blemishes open for all to see and this is exactly the reason he was so appealing. For every flaw he had there were just as many positive attributes and Amelia’s ability to see the real Danny Boy and accept him was heartbreakingly touching and true. These characters saw a kinship in each other that went to depths that were both frightening and thrilling to them. Ms. Ward-Cosio’s evolution of Danny Boy was exceptional; his character makes reader’s think as well as feel. Amelia while more subtle elicited a similar reaction and was just as masterfully put together in her understated way. This pairing was inevitable. The complications that came into play on this couple’s journey to trust in each other, find the assurance of being each other’s safety net and compromise made it literally impossible to put this work down.
Lara Ward-Cosio’s ability to relate past history in a fresh and new perspective was done spectacularly in Problematic Love. Rehashing history to enhance her story and give it substance as she builds upon her work is one of her special writing skills. This author’s connection to her characters is phenomenal and an experience like no other in its intensity, passion and devotion. These portrayals, this relationship shows this writer’s craft at its best. Her unabashed enlightenment of her characters and readers alike was at times harsh but always honest and made this story better for it. Dark humor was skillfully used as a means to softened this work and prevent it from being bogged down in heavy subject matter.
A story of hopes, dreams, forgiving ones self and others, and taking chances, Lara Ward-Cosio is absolutely on target in Problematic Love!
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.*
*While book can be read as a stand alone your overall reading experience would be enhanced by reading the previous books in this series.*
It is my opinion that this should NOT be read as a stand-alone. I think the series needs to be read in the order it was written to fully grasp the story behind the story of these characters. There are a lot of characters that precede this book who play an intricate role in PROBLEMATIC LOVE.
There is a huge world to this series. In each of the previous books, there is a realistic take on events happening and at times I have enjoyed reading the stories and other times I’ve been on the fence about them. This is one of those books that was just a little too realistic, a little too “problematic” for me. There are boundaries crossed, characters that I wanted to shake and tell them to step away to take a breath, and complex issues that I think were handled in a way that leads me to believe the author has some experience in.
I don’t want to recap the blurb or give anything away so it is difficult to explain what I am feeling. I’ve sat with it for a little bit hoping for the review to become clearer to me, but it’s not. It’s an entanglement of real life vs fiction that I sometimes struggle with – so I will simply say…
Read this book (after reading the others, of course).
Problematic Love (Rogue Series Book 8) by Lara Ward Cosio is another fantastic look at Danny and his first proper relationship. He has had a rough time his whole life and turning to drugs trying to deal with it but in this book he has kicked it all and is desperately trying to find himself and learning to love someone who makes him better. When all you have known is tough times it is hard to look at yourself and not put yourself down and assume people think the worst even if it isn’t true. The pain, the self doubt could either make or break him and his fledgeling relationship with Amelia.
Amelia went to Danny with the hope of breaking out of herself, the self she is willing to let loose and try a relationship with the man she has feelings for. It’s not all hearts and roses and Amelia finds that the one thing she desperately wants is the one thing he is not willing to give her.
It is a story of the grittier side of life and the raw emotions of someone who never believed he could be loved. You need to get your hands on this series and start it today.
Problematic Love was a great 5 star read and book eight in the Rogue series.
This is Danny Boy and Amelia’s story.
Amelia had struggled with her feelings for Danny Boy, being that he was a patient of hers. But she decides to come to the United States to try and make things work with Danny Boy, although he’s not sure if he can.
Danny is a recovering addict who has laid out his past to Amelia, he can’t help but wonder if he’s good enough for her. Can they really make it work? Can he lower his walls and let her in?
There were so many emotional pieces in this book, make sure you have kleenex. We get lots of twist and turns. They will be pushed to make some hard choices in order to move forward. I was hoping that these two would get it figured out and I wasn’t disappointed. I have to say I think they are one of my favorite couples in the series. I loved seeing all of the other secondary characters, it’s fun to see others from the series. I believe you can read this as a stand alone by I highly suggest you start from the beginning. I can’t wait to see more from this series.
