Middle-aged bookstore owner Willa Chance is often haunted by ghosts who want her to do their bidding. Usually it involves the nasty business of bringing their killer to justice, so when the ghost of Adelaide Hamilton asks her to find an old recipe book and give it to Elspeth Whipple, it seems like an easy job.Except Willa’s search for the book has her crossing the path of Sheriff Eddie Striker … Eddie Striker one too many times for comfort. He’s acting almost as if he’s investigating a murder, but Adelaide died of natural causes. Didn’t she?
When it turns out Adelaide’s entire family had means, motive, opportunity, Willa’s search becomes dangerous, and she finds herself matching wits with a cold-blooded killer that wants the same thing she does.
Luckily, Willa’s cat Pandora is looking out for her and enlists the aid of the other cats of Mystic Notch who will stop at nothing to ensure Willa’s safety as well as the recovery of the book … even if it takes a little bit of magic.

This was a fun cozy mystery involving more than one ghost. I liked the ghostly twist with her boyfriend. That was a great twist! I also did not figure out who the murderer was until the big reveal. I always enjoy being surprised.
So glad I found this series
This book you can read independently but if you can read the others first I would recommend it. The others just give you an on-site to the history, personally, and just the air of the story. But if you don’t have access to the others in the series don’t neglect reading this. There was a small time that I felt as if the writer was stalling but that didn’t last long. If you pay close attention as you read you may figure out “who done it” (personally I had it down to one of two) very nicely written. And like the others in this series I can honestly recommend it to my preteen-tween advanced reading friends. No language and no sexual issues. Am off to read the next adventure
Quick, fun read…what a great mix cats and ghosts!
Unbelievable and ridiculous
Cute, light, easy.
Fun book.
10 stars! Great characters and cats that help keep the world safe! What’s not to love.
Loved it. Had so much fun with Pandora and her crew. Reminds me of Sneaky Pie Brown and her crew. Will be ordering more on this series .±P±
I enjoyed this series of books. A light read which is nice at the end of a work day.
How does she get involved in these things? Funny at times and deadly serious at other times.
Once you let your mind into the author’s fantastical world and suspend reality as you know it, you will enjoy this mystery. The characters are a treat.
Love cat reads always a twist.
Ghosts were pretty selective on who they communicated with. Cats were really smart.
Humans were kind of slow figuring things out.
Totally enjoyable. Love the twist – Willa and Striker both see ghosts. Look forward to the time they find that out about each other.
Nice premise, but the plot seems hurried and fractured. Where is Max? He just disappeared? Some of the action is almost childish, Not up to her usual standards.
I did not find this book very interesting. The main character did not seem too bright. Her cat was smarter.
pandora and her feline aids are just the bomb!! i adore this series. a spectacularly fun and fast read. the town and characters fabulous!!
Loved the book. A real page turner. Original story with great characters.
A great light read. Whimsical and fun to read.
Paws belong to a cat named pandora. Pandora and all the neighborhood “good “ cats help save Mystic Notch. Willa sees ghosts, or some of them and has become good at solving crimes or solving mysteries the ghosts want solved. Striker, an area cop is also involved in a similar way. The main abject to find is Bettys cookbook. And it it is “life or death” for two ghosts if it isn’t found. The story is well written and fun to read.
