“Dark, sexy, and intense, Prisoner is an emotional ride that does not let go until the end. I loved it!” ~ USA Today bestselling author Kristen CallihanHe seethes with raw power the first time I see him–pure menace and rippling muscles in shackles. He’s dangerous. He’s wild. He’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.So I hide behind my prim glasses and my book like I always do, because I have … like I always do, because I have secrets too. Then he shows up in the prison writing class I have to teach, and he blows me away with his honesty. He tells me secrets in his stories, and it’s getting harder to hide mine. I shiver when he gets too close, with only the cuffs and the bars and the guards holding him back. At night I can’t stop thinking about him in his cell.
But that’s the thing about an animal in a cage–you never know when he’ll bite. He might use you to escape. He might even pull you into a forest and hold a hand over your mouth so you can’t call for the cops. He might make you come so hard, you can’t think.
And you might crave him more than your next breath.
“Sexy, dark, and thrilling. I loved every second of it!” ~ New York Times bestselling author Katie Reus

I have read book by both authors. This is an amazing story they wrote together. I hope to read more books by them for the other ‘brothers’. I love how both characters are so raw, strong and complex. I always amazes me how two authors with different writing styles can write such amazing stories together.
Abigail and Grayson are not your typical couple. Grayson manipulates Abigail to help him escape, but then captures her. While in captivity, things happen and Abigail falls for Grayson. But so did I. His traumatic past, made him real, made him who he was, made him not such a bad guy. I am a sucker for bad boys, and Grayson fits that bill. But there is a softer side that Abagail seems to bring out. The twists, the turns, the emotions that this book has is so intense, I was on the edge of my seat. I could not stop listening, I had to know more.
Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet nailed this narration. Jacob IS the perfect bad boy. His gruff voice brought Grayson to life. Jacob has an incredible ability to bring out all the emotions of Grayson like no other. I felt everything Grayson did through Jacob’s narration. Lauren Sweet is the perfect Abigail. She has a sweet, yet very strong voice to bring those characteristics of Abigail out. I loved listening to this narration team.
A dark read!
You might crave him more than your next breath…
Sexy, dark and addicting. Holy hell! So thrilling and intense. I was hooked right from when the heroine met the hero. Hot!
This book will take you on a very complex journey, making you question everything. Emotional and raw.
Full of criminals, captivity, secrets, darkness, steam and love.
Perfect for readers of dark romances.

Jesus, the narrators were so awesome and their voices. Dear god, their voices matched the characters and the first thought that popped into my head was, “YES!”
Excellent storyline! It was hard not to fall for Grayson after hearing his back story. It was also easy to see why Abby got sucked in, especially when circumstances were beyond her control.
Jacob & Lauren where perfect narrators for this story.
Review for Audiobook Obsession
Highly recommend! I could not put it down!
Both Abigail and Grayson have secrets, yet the attraction between a college sophomore completing teaching a writing class to prison inmates is magnetic. Little does Abby realize Grayson is using the class to plan his escape from prison. Once she is taken hostage she begins to put the puzzle together. However, Grayson wants to keep her as his own. They encounter many betrayals and roadblocks along the way. What does Abby have to hide? Who is using her–Grayson and company or the authorities seeking him? Will the tensions be resolved?
This started out great, the two characters were interesting especially Graystone, Then about 40% in, the book took a tumble down into territory of stupid plotting and mushy melodrama.
Dark, haunting insight.
It was different than anything I have read before. It was kind of twisted. I almost stopped reading but don’t like to leave a book unfinished.
Trying too hard.
About 20 plot devices used but not well.
The heroine is TSTL and the “hero” drugged her and raped her.
A trainwreck.
I wish I could have gotten into this more but I could not and I honestly just couldn’t get into the couple. I still think I will read the second book of this series but it might be a long time before I do.
Loved it so much I went and bought the next book in the series. It’s dark. I liked it!
I really liked this book. I was so involved with the characters. Recommend this story.
The writing in this book is…. riveting. This story pulled me in and kept me turning the pages. It pulled at my emotions, my heart. It scrambled my mind. The build, the relationship development, the unfolding revelations. Abigail & Grayson are both survivors, with gut wrenching, heartbreaking stories. But they are smart, tough, and kick @ss with a powerful love.
“And now I know why I’m crying: because I’m losing just like he said I would, because I want to be in this prison of his, enclosed by him, the object of his intense focus, and I know it’s wrong-it’s a wrong thing to like.”
Prisoner was a WILD ride y’all. It was dark, erotic, dangerous, and thrilling. Just how I like it.
There was a lot of chemistry between our two main characters. Abigail tried very hard to fight her desire for Grayson so that made for many tension filled and intense scenes.
Both of them had very troubled childhoods and the way they save each other from that darkness is breathtaking and beautiful.
A Quick Synopsis:
Abigail is teaching a writing class at a prison and on the very last day, there is a fight and an inmate uses her to escape. But Grayson isn’t just running from the cops. Grayson is out for revenge but will it find him first?

Prisoner (Criminals & Captives Series, Book 1) is a bittersweet listen. A different type of contemporary romance that dips into dark moments. Intriguing storyline that held me “captive” through the end. I absolutely loved it as it was so different from anything I have ever read/listened to. Opulence of twists, a riveting plot, compelling characters and lock stock and barrel of sensuous moments. I loved the ending and excited to listen to book two in this series.
Jacob Morgan, Lauren Sweet dual narration was fabulous, however Jacob Morgan overshadow Lauren Sweet. His flawless performance felt like you were right there watching a lovestory unfold. His ability to change his inflection to reflect a character personality is colossal. Just love love … his intonation. Excelling quickly to the top of my list for favourite narrator. I personally find Lauren Sweet’s inflection fun & sweet.
Awesome Story & Narration Dark & Intense!
Prisoner
Criminals & Captives Series, Book 1
By: Skye Warren, Annika Martin
Narrated by: Jacob Morgan, Lauren Sweet
I am loving Skye Warren and Annika Martin’s collaborations and the stories and characters they created. This book swept me right, the interesting storylines captivated me from start to end. The characters are complex and well developed, each have issues and are broken in their own way. Abigail Winslow, a college student is assigned to teaching a writing class in prison, it is not is not something she feels comfortable about. She is timid and likes to stay invisible. Grayson sees Abigail and an opportunity so he does what he has to do to get in into her class. I love how everything plays out in this book, there is never a dull moment and it is well plotted with drama, angst, action, thrilling suspense, some heartfelt and moving moments and some hot romance. The chemistry between Grayson and Abigail was smoking. My heart went out to both them, neither had a great childhood, Grayson’s was just heartbreaking and the reason he is on a mission for vengeance. Skye Warren and Annika Martin, thank you for this awesome book and the emotional rollercoaster ride. I hope there is more to come after “Hostage” in this amazing series.
I listened to the Audible edition, Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet are talented narrators and voice artists, they bring the characters to life, giving each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, projecting their emotions as well as the drama and intensity of the story into his performance. They are an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen

Ok I have to say this story really sucked me in. The beginning sorta had a Prison Break feel to it. It felt new for me. I went in blind with this story (plus its been on my tbr for years and am glad its now on audio). I think I was just expecting something different to happen with the overall arc? But Im glad things turned out they way they did by the end. What I love about Skye and Annika’s writing is that it was seamlessly done.
Jacob and Lauren did a great job narrating.

Prisoner
Criminals & Captives Series, Book 1
By: Skye Warren, Annika Martin
Narrated by: Jacob Morgan, Lauren Sweet
If you love dark romantic suspense, this book is for you. This first book I have listened to by Skye Warren and Annika Martin writing together and I would not turn it off no matter who was talking to me! I had to know what was going to happen next. Abigail is given a class of prisoners to work with and using his cunning skills uses her to help break out of jail. But it doesn’t stop there. He takes her with him…and keeps her! And our story begins, with a sizzling chemistry between Abby & Grayson, a story that is so heartbreaking that it’s impossible not to sympathize with and a vengeance beyond compare. It’s one of those books that hooks you in and keeps you there, living with the characters and making you feel it all. I loved every minute.
The narration is impeccable by Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet. Morgan must have a little dark in him, as he is able to tune into these characters and deliver such a believable performance. Sweet plays the innocent so well, with her young voice and evolves as she learns about Grayson. It’s a stunning performance.
