“Dark, sexy, and intense, Prisoner is an emotional ride that does not let go until the end. I loved it!” ~ USA Today bestselling author Kristen CallihanHe seethes with raw power the first time I see him–pure menace and rippling muscles in shackles. He’s dangerous. He’s wild. He’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.So I hide behind my prim glasses and my book like I always do, because I have … like I always do, because I have secrets too. Then he shows up in the prison writing class I have to teach, and he blows me away with his honesty. He tells me secrets in his stories, and it’s getting harder to hide mine. I shiver when he gets too close, with only the cuffs and the bars and the guards holding him back. At night I can’t stop thinking about him in his cell.
But that’s the thing about an animal in a cage–you never know when he’ll bite. He might use you to escape. He might even pull you into a forest and hold a hand over your mouth so you can’t call for the cops. He might make you come so hard, you can’t think.
And you might crave him more than your next breath.
“Sexy, dark, and thrilling. I loved every second of it!” ~ New York Times bestselling author Katie Reus

I absolutely love dark and twisted romances. I mean, I LOVE them. They’re my guilty pleasure. If I can get an Anti-Hero mixed in there it makes it that much better. With that said, I have to give a trigger warning. **There is a rape scene in this book. It’s not coercion, it is rape. It features the two main characters. If that is a trigger for you, I highly recommend not reading this book.**
With that trigger warning in there I can get on to the review. I found this book through the advertisement on their newest novel Hostage. I saw the beautiful cover & read the blurb and knew that I had to read it. Naturally, I have certain quirks that won’t allow me to read the second in a series (even though it is a standalone novel). When I saw that Hostage was the second in the series, I picked up the first one for free on Amazon & Barnes & Noble. When I went into it, I wasn’t expecting much. I saw the reviews of other reviewers and thought that there was no way this book would live up to the hype. I was wrong.
I LOVED this book. The characters were well written & I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Anti-Hero. Grayson, is just the right amount of sociopath and hero. He’s dark, he’s twisted, and well he is broken in ways that no one should be broken. Abby, is just the right amount of soft and badass woman. She’s soft, trusting, and broken in her own way. The two of them combined is magic. The chemistry between them is instant and intense and I loved the interactions & the bickering between the two of them.
The plot line was something completely out of the ordinary for me. You had suspense, romance, sadism, masochism, and well written smut. I loved how unique this book was to me. It had me constantly guessing and rooting for Grayson constantly. I won’t go into much on the plot but know that I loved it. The only thing that I did hate was that I had to put the trigger warning in here. I hated that and I deducted half a star from the book because of it.
All in all, this was a dark & twisted erotica that was so much fun I didn’t want it to end. If you enjoy dark romances, I highly recommend it. It is probably one of my favorites in the genre.
This is one of those books where u wish it would never end. Loved the characters, I liked that the female character was not one of those week virgins types, love this book!
