BOOK 1. Fangs and Fondant
————————————
Priscilla Pratt is 377 years old, give or take a decade. She just wants to lead her quiet life, and bake dreamy confections for the residents of Bellmare..
But when she’s commissioned to create a wedding cake replica of Dracula’s castle, and the bride turns up dead hours before the wedding, Priscilla and her pastries are the first to be suspected.
Priscilla must get to the bottom of this frosting-laden murder, or her business and reputation will be six feet under.
“A delightful cozy mystery with the perfect pinch of the paranormal!”
BOOK 2. A Bite of Blueberry
————————————
The townspeople aren’t making life easy for vampire Priscilla Pratt after her run-in with a murderer. So she agrees to cater a debutantes’ breakfast to get away from it all. But just her luck — she finds another body at the hall.
Priscilla is caught at the center of a murder investigation once again, and now her meddling fairy godmother has flown into town, too. Added to the fun are a pesky TV executive and a mysterious magician.
The Fangs in Fondant bakery is stuck between a rock and a stale scone. Can Priscilla Pratt save her reputation and catch a murderer — twice?
“I started smiling on page one and kept grinning all the way to the end.”
BOOK 3. Blood in the Batter
————————————
On the day of the annual Bellmare parade, the last thing Priscilla Pratt wants is the dead body that’s in her bakery.
The murder victim had plenty of enemies, Priscilla quickly learns, and she’ll have to sort fact from fiction among the suspects.
Was it his disgruntled boss? A werewolf foe? The furious ex-wife? Or was it Priscilla’s young apprentice vampire, who was found in the middle of the crime scene?
Can the best baker-vampire in New England catch a murderer before the murderer catches her?
“I can’t wait for the next book; the series is already one of my favorites!”
BOOK 4. Holy Crepes
————————————
A summer heat wave is the worst of vampire-baker Priscilla Pratt’s problems — until an anti-vampire religious sect shows up in town.
Someone else comes knocking: a grumpy (though handsome) investigator who is suspicious Priscilla has been surrounded by so many murders recently.
And right under their noses — another murder, found dead on the steps of the church.
The best amateur sleuth in town now must investigate under the radar — or find herself in the hot seat.
“From the first chapter, I couldn’t stop.”

The Lovable Undead
In this boxed group of paranormal tales we are introduced to a 21st century (post-millenial?) twist on vampires and their place in society. Actually, we are talking a parallel universe, as decades of fine-tuning the “coming out” and attempted integration (<--seldom initially successful whether you are talking color, gender, or even nationality; let's not even talk about future species issues!) are part of the historic background that is casually introduced as needed for continuity in this delightful, amusing, well-written, and (should you, like I, be enjoying the audio version) well-narrated series. I reviewed each novel as I finished it: ~~~~~~ Fangs in Fondant (Priscilla Pratt #1) -- Wedding Blues ~~ Author Melissa Monroe has presented her own twist on vampires, integrating them into society as U.S. Citizens. In the manner of cozies, this is a lighthearted romp, with murder being almost an aside to the interplay of vampire with humans. Priscilla may be undead but she is still very human and, considering human food tastes largely of lard and vinegar to her altered taste buds, a surprisingly good baker--by which means she makes her "living." Narrator Cindy Kay seems a perfect choice for the job. Her natural voice brings Priscilla to life and her vocalizations of other characters is also spot on. This, the first of a set I am enjoying, is a complete story (no cliffhanger), but I am most definitely looking forward to enjoying the rest of the series. ~~~~~~ A Bite of Blueberry (Priscilla Pratt #2) -- Frog in the Batter ~~ Who knew a vampire could have a (incompetent) fairy Godmother? Or that the family curse would persist for more than 300 years? Voice artist Cindy Kay continues to provide excellent narration to this cozy box set which picks up where the last left off, timewise, but is an independent and standalone story. Any past references are sufficiently indepth to allow easy catchup, whether it has been awhile since you read the first book or you are plunging into the series in the middle. Suffice it to say the town Morticia and Gomez could happily have called home continues to extract death from the atmosphere providing Priscilla another murder or two to solve. I am enjoying these lightheartedly creepy tales! ~~~~~~ Blood in the Batter (Priscilla Pratt #3) -- Wait, Werewolves Are REAL? ~~ How is it that Priscilla keeps stumbling across dead and dying people? Mostly via exsanguination--and she can't even indulge in the freely-flowing blood! She's being used as a police consultant when she's not being accused of committing the crime herself. This is the third in the series and has enough supplied background that you needn't have read books one and two to follow the plot, but if you haven't, you are missing the Easter eggs scattered through. I continue to enjoy Cindy Kay's expert narration. ~~~~~~ Holy Crepes (Priscilla Pratt Mystery #4) -- Cults ~~ Sadly, I have reached the end of this delightfully narrated box set of cozy mysteries. Another intriguing plot, plenty of characters whom you will know from previous tales (although each one stands alone in case you didn't snag the set), and some intriguing interactions keep this story moving forward nicely. Vampires in the FBI? So it seems, and following up on the absurdly high number of murders of late in the tiny town--each of which have dear Priscilla in common!
