“I married you because I needed a queen.”
Sophia Rocchetti is definitely a queen. What a stunning, brave and intelligent woman. For many moments while reading this book, I found myself just rambling about how in love I’m with her, and feeling nervous and excited for her to finally fit all pieces of this puzzle. And Alessandro, I’m a little sad he didn’t appear more but I’m happy for what we got to know about him throughout this book.
It was quite sad for me all the time they spent apart, but I’m hoping the next book will give me all the scenes I wanted for this one—mostly because there is a baby in this equation now!!! and babies always make my life easier. I truly enjoyed their scenes together, and I desperately need more.
And, I have so many things I’d like to say, but I guess I’ll have to save some to after finishing the next (& last) book.
My least favorite thing about the last book was the couple relationship and it seemed like it magically got fixed in this book. After he betrayed her and they lived separately when she visited the penthouse for the weekend it was suddenly fixed. He also was not very accepting of the pregnancy even though he explained his reason why it was still dumb. The one thing that really dragged my rating down was how they treated her after they all lied to her. Then they all expected her to forgive and forget and you don’t treat your husband like that if you want to live. She should have just killed them all and become the boss. I wanted her to interact more with Nicolette and I hope she does in the next book. I also loved Sophies character growth like she was so unapologetically like I want to be bowed down to.
So I was wrong in assuming, when I started this series, that it would be a dark mafia romance. It is in fact a suspense/thriller mafia novel with light emphasis on romance.
Sophia’s rise to power within the Chicago Outfit is fantastic. The odds are stacked against her but she won’t relent. Underneath that “beautiful but silly socialite” image she projects, Sophia is intelligent, manipulative and driven and you have to respect her. She is lucky enough that Alessandro appreciates her and sees in her his partner in crime.
The story is slowly building up, with so much detail that I got a bit bored at times and had to skip a few pages. But the inner workings of the mafia are very realistically depicted and quite interesting.
The ending brings incredible challenges for this power couple and I am looking forward to the final instalment.
Oh, dear!
By far, one of my favorite mafia books. The second book in the Rocchetti Dynasty has to be my favorite of the whole series. One heck of a ride!
In this book, we see more to Sofia’s true side, and honestly, she is such a queen. One of the best characters I have read about. The first book showed her fears and concerns, in this one we see a stronger side to her. Although she is a part of one of the scariest families out there, she is still pushing her way through and finding ways to cement herself in them. I loved how optimistic she stayed despite all the conflict around her. The wheels in her head never stopped turning, and she was always looking for an outlet.
We also saw her relationship with Alessandro bloom. God that was just the cherry on top for this book. They really developed and learned from each other and you could see them grow page by page.
Yeah. I finished this book in one day. It was that good. I love having a front row set to The Sophia Show. She just gets better and better. And she’s pregnant?!? Do you know what I did when I was pregnant? Absolutely nothing.
I am also loving the progression of Sophia and Alessandro’s relationship. She’s not making it easy for him – he needs to work for it!
It’s just a really good story. Mafia, romance, suspense, drama, humor – everything. Starting book three immediately.
Wow I think this one made me want to cry for what Sophia was going through. It was heartbreaking. Love so strong! These books get better and better
One of the most enjoyable mafia books I’ve read. I loved it. I almost read it in one sitting. I couldn’t put it down. It’s even better that ‘Bloody Bride’ and I really liked that one.
Not only Alessandro and Sophia is evolving. All the characters from book one and new ones play their role and the plot develops wonderfully. Sophia is growing and learning and she’s becoming more self-confident and powerful. She’s not only a beauty but a very intelligent young girl and has been born to play her role as mafia princess perfectly and Alessandro being very aware of that.
Great world building that played in my mind like a movie together with the intriguing characters and a thrilling plot. I’m definitely reading the next books by Bree Porter.
Sophia is still reeling from the lies and deceit. She doesn’t know who to trust. She finds herself alone and afraid. The men have shunned her and the women view her as weak. She has lots of time to contemplate her next move. Tired of being nice and doing as she is told, she rises up and becomes the true Sophia.
Alessandro is content to let Sophia work through her anger, until an encounter between the two has him wanting more. He is working his way back into her good graces. Together, they begin to heal and become the powerful couple they are meant to be. Can they run The Rocchetti Dynasty, or will someone stronger rip it away?
I received an ARC in exchange of an honest review
When i first read The Bloody Bride, i couldn’t believe my luck. I always had trouble finding heroines i love, because i expect so much more from them than from the hero. i always yearned for a heroine who is cunning, who loves power, who would do anything to get that power , but at the same time i wanted her to be feminine and sweet. i never got one that is all that, until Sophia Rochetti. She is everything i ever wanted in a heroine. i love how in this book her relationship with Alessandro developped and how they opened their hearts to each other. We got so much more family dynamics and uncovered one of the biggest secrets the Rochettis kept. Sophia’s relationship with her father exploded and some truths were told, forcing sophia to reveal her true nature to him. Cat Padovino and the FBI are more determined than ever to destroy the Rocchettis, and the sisters will clash. will sophia choose her bond with her sister, the only person who knows and loves her or will her desire for power and love for alessandro will make the sisters enemies? And Cat is not the only enemy they, have. there is someone else that wants to destroy sophia and alessandro. how strong are they? will they manage to get what they both truly want or will their enemies, known and unknown , will destroy them? you’ll have to read and find out.
I started this series on a Friday and had it done by Sunday. To say this books was action packed and full of unexpected events is just the beginning!!Bree knocked it out of the park with this series.
4.5 stars
I love that this series keeps getting better. So many series have an amazing debut, but lagging sequels and, so far, The Rocchetti Dynasty is fabulous in each book!
I love that Sophia comes into her own as the wife of a powerful man and a powerful woman in her own right. She knows how to play the mafia. A lot of “independent” mafia heroine are idiots. They go against the mafia and expect for it to bend instead of infiltrating from the inside. Sophia is cunning under her stupid trophy wife facade. I love it! She is also a great mother-to-be even under the terrible circumstances.
We don’t see a lot of Alessandro throughout the book, but he really compliments her, in my opinion. They are both pretty ruthless, but he is more obvious about it, which works for him because he needs people to be scared of him.
I love the action and drama with the FBI, Cat, the Irish mafia, and the Bratva. It just adds to the story a lot, even though a lot of authors wouldn’t have gone the extra mile and would have stuck to just the relationship drama.
In conclusion, a great continuation in this series and I am so excited for The Rocchetti Queen
Sophia is pregnant and feels overwhelmed and betrayed, not only by her family but also by her husband, Alessandro. The fate of the previous Rocchetti women is not something she can easily forget. The FBI is determined to bring down the Outfit and will use any means available. Facing many challenges, Sophia must protect her baby and her husband, using her cunning and beauty. But when the time comes for her to make a difficult choice, which side will she take?
Principessa of Cicago is an exciting and seductive mafia romance! Sophia and Alessandro’s story is intense and intriguing, and all the characters are authentic and accurately depicted. A must-read!
