It is actually kind of funny how I got this book. My sister was on my Amazon account not realizing it and purchased it. I asked her about it and well, of course, she had to purchase it again on her own account. I was ready for something different from what I had been reading and decided to open this one. I am glad that I did.
This story grabbed me right away. It was nothing like any tired vampire story that I have read before. Even the beginning of vampirism was very different than what I was used to hearing, especially when dealing with the name Dracula.
The characters were also very real and complex. The struggles that she worked through were realistic. I had a difficult time putting the book down for I found myself lost within the pages. I am glad my sister accidentally bought the book and I have already borrowed the next one on my Amazon Unlimited.
Princess Dracula is patient, complex, and exquisitely executed. This series defies genre: it is paranormal, historical fiction with a dash of horror. I picked it up expecting just another voice among the cacophony, but I was utterly floored. I can’t say enough good things about the intricacy and beauty of the storyline, the incredibly skilful writing, or the lovely yet sometimes disconcertingly believable setting. do yourself a favor and read this. It isn’t just another series. I was personally so impressed by it, I went on to read everything John Patrick Kennedy has made available, and I was inspired to review an author for the very first time. I’ve read quite literally thousands of books.
Different take on Dracula
I really enjoyed this book. It has Vald Dracula in it, but this is focused on his daughter. It was well written and show “vampires” how I think they would be. I really looking forward to reading more books. I hope it gets turned into a series. I would definitely read about her through the years.
This is an amazingly new never before told tale of a lesser know girl and her survival and will to survive against the odds you will be laughing crying shouting and begging for me by books end. This is not your same old vampire book it’s original new and unique so grab you a copy enjoy and take an amazing ride on chilling action packed journey to discover what makes this book so hauntingly new.
3-stars for good writing and intriguing story that kept me reading! Would have given a 4th star if there had been an actual plot with a problem, climax, and ending to resolve said problem. 5-stars if it had less innuendo. That said, I’ll probably get around to reading the rest of the series.
I understand why previous reviewers did not like this book, because it really does read like a prequel to a series, and in this case it’s about how Ruxandra (MC) became a vampire and her journey to control her urges along with her longing to be rid of the evil inside of her. DESPITE THIS, the story was in fact very well written and not once did I find myself confused, as compared to other fantasy/urban-fantasy books. It was a very dark, twisted, and intriguing take on the story of Dracula that kept me reading at an engaging pace, and the author made Ruxandra a very captivating character. There were however a few times that I found myself skimming pages because there was too much description and/or text writing was predictable, but this happened only a few times.
In regards to the innuendo I mentioned above, it was clear to me that it was part of the story to give it a sexy and tantalizing edge (i.e., the mention of breasts always included in female character descriptions), and to create in the reader’s eye the visual of Ruxandra as a hauntingly stunning creature without the innocence of beauty that is evident when one is not a vampire (beauty that is Godly vs. beauty that is from the devil). Also, the innuendo is clearly part of the story as the author’s choice to describe creative sexual fantasies. It’s a writer’s prerogative to do this, and as much as I prefer stories and books that are cleaner, I felt that the sexuality of the book was mostly well placed and tastefully done, keeping the flow of the story smooth. Also, vampires are constantly written about and described as creatures of beauty, sexuality, and impeccable taste so it makes sense that Ruxandra the vampire would also be written in this way.
was boring , did not read the hold book . I went all the way to the last chapter just too see how it ended
It had really great story and potential, but not good flow!!! Passing on series…
Not really a good read
