Sweet, cosy, and warm!
In this third outing in the Harmony Harbour series, Primrose Lane, we head back to Greystone Manor and into the lives of both the event planner, Olivia who is struggling with a past that continues to haunt her and a true identity she’s trying to keep hidden, and Finn Gallager, the middle brother and doctor sidelined by injury and anxious to be healed and heading back to the Congo as soon as possible.
The writing style is smooth and witty. The characters are intriguing, quirky, and lovable. And the plot is a delightful mix of sentimental moments, budding romance, matchmaking drama, emotion, friendship, family, community, and a touch of mystery.
Overall, Primrose Lane is another quick, charming, tenderhearted tale by Mason that’s an easy, entertaining, satisfying read.
Dana is dealt one blow after another. All she needs to do is get through the next few days, Mother’s day and the anniversary of her son’s death, and she would with her sleeping pills and anti-anxiety pills.
Finn, a doctor with Doctors without Boarders, is home recovering after being injured while working in the Congo. He quickly deduces that Dana had a drug problem. He gets suckered into working with Dr. Bishop and when Dana comes in asking to renew her meds she is shocked to see Finn. He doesn’t mind one bit labeling her as a drug addict and thoroughly embarrassing her in the process.
When Finn ends up driving Dana back to the manor, she has to face another slap to the face. She has no choice but to reveal her secrets to Finn. Finn becomes sympathetic and becomes her best friend in this new battle. Don’t be fooled, this isn’t the end of the battles, they just keep coming but there is good too.
This book could have me crying on one page and laughing on the next. I really fell in love with Finn and Dana.
Favorite Quotes:
Well, she was here, just not here, here. She’d been dead— or undead as the case may be— going on seven months now. Perhaps “passing” would be a more accurate term because she seemed to be betwixt and between. She’d seen the light all right, only she’d been lollygagging, worrying about the ones she was leaving behind, and therefore missed the magic carpet ride to heaven.
Chard-a nay-nay.
How had she not noticed that the smiles and laughter that she’d faked for so long, that she’d felt only on the surface, had become real and bone deep? She’d never expected to be truly happy again. To have those moments of pure joy that set your heart and mind on fire.
My Review:
More secrets were exposed, a slow burn romance developed, and the ghostly hauntings continue in the latest installment of this cute series. Family dramas take center stage with a unique plot twist among the large cast of characters. I enjoy the humor and creative storyline and look forward to the widows and family meddling with the remaining two brothers.
Just when Olivia Davenport thinks things in her life are starting to settle down and get back on track, she gets thrown for a loop when her ex’s daughter shows up on her doorstep. It appears that she is now the young girls guardian, which leaves Olivia completely out of sorts, how can she care for a young child when she can barely take care of herself? Good thing the good doctor Finn Gallagher is on stand-by waiting to step in and help…question is will she except it?
The moment Finn Gallagher meets Olivia he can see a woman who is totally out of her element and in great need of help… but she doesn’t seem to want any help from him! He is completely fascinated with the mysterious beauty, she is new to town, and no one knows a thing about her, and he’d love nothing more than to be the one to discover all her secrets… if she would just let him in!
