Ben Cartwright, former soldier, home to mourn the loss of his father stumbles upon cryptic letters from the past between the author, Arthur Conan Doyle and his great, great grandfather who vanished while exploring the Amazon jungle in 1908. Amazingly, these letters lead Ben to believe that his ancestor’s expedition was the basis for Doyle’s fantastical tale of a lost world inhabited by long … long extinct creatures. As Ben digs some more he finds clues to the whereabouts of a lost notebook that might contain a map to a place that is home to creatures that would rewrite everything known about history, biology and evolution.
But other parties now know about the notebook, and will do anything to obtain it. For Ben and his friends, it becomes a race against time and against ruthless rivals.
In the remotest corners of Venezuela, along winding river trails known only to lost tribes, and through near impenetrable jungle, Ben and his novice team find a forbidden place more terrifying and dangerous than anything they could ever have imagined.

Terrible ending
Modern day retelling of “Lost World”…..smell the fear and recall that jurassic movie.
Disappointed with the ending.
Great story in the footsteps of Conan Doyle, great characters, twist ending. I highly recommend it.
I hated the ending, but only because I hate cliff hangers
Well, this was certainly not the best of the Lost World spin offs, but not the worst either. I just found the characters unbelievably naive as they jumped into what any sensible person would know could be a life-threatening adventure and even the most experienced of them made ridiculously stupid mistakes. It was just too easy to guess how it would all end.
Tired premise. Few surprises. Failed to hold my interest. I never bonded with any of the characters and didn’t mourn their predictable deaths.
It was somewhat predictable. The ending wasn’t, though. I did not like how it ended.
Good read!
Great twist on a well known story line. Good detail, a fun read. Didn’t want to put it down! Nice twist into Segway for sequel.
Good book. Look forward to follow-up
Loved it. Couldn’t put it down.
Didn’t like the ending.
This story captured my attention and wouldn’t let go. I am waiting on the next story.
This was a comic-book story in novel version, a takeoff on Conan Doyle’s _Lost World_. Totally implausible, but that what comics are. The action was fast-paced. I was not happy with the language.
I enjoyed the story for the most part. Good character development and original storyline. The ending was somewhat disappointing. I wasn’t expecting an ending that may or may not result in a sequel.
Good up to the end, then it leaves you hanging, because it doesn’t end.
Liked the book except too many deaths, the end I didn’t like, hope there is a book 2.
Excellent read couldn’t put it down.
Pretty good adventure reading and worth the time to read, I liked it.
