Ben Cartwright, former soldier, home to mourn the loss of his father stumbles upon cryptic letters from the past between the author, Arthur Conan Doyle and his great, great grandfather who vanished while exploring the Amazon jungle in 1908. Amazingly, these letters lead Ben to believe that his ancestor’s expedition was the basis for Doyle’s fantastical tale of a lost world inhabited by long … long extinct creatures. As Ben digs some more he finds clues to the whereabouts of a lost notebook that might contain a map to a place that is home to creatures that would rewrite everything known about history, biology and evolution.
But other parties now know about the notebook, and will do anything to obtain it. For Ben and his friends, it becomes a race against time and against ruthless rivals.
In the remotest corners of Venezuela, along winding river trails known only to lost tribes, and through near impenetrable jungle, Ben and his novice team find a forbidden place more terrifying and dangerous than anything they could ever have imagined.

I loved the original aspect of finding the lost plateau and the dinosaurs. The characters were real, some downright nasty. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to the sequel.
Enjoyed the story!
It starts with Ben who receives some letter correspondences of his grandfather and that starts his adventure in search of the Lost World.
Some of the ideas were borrowed from the Lost World, but the action and the beasts in the story are very scarily built and enjoyable to read about.
Loved it.
I can’t wait for the second book to come out.
If you like action thrillers you will luv this book
Well-written and interesting story.
Anything to do with dinosaurs and I’m definitely interested, lots of scary moments and action, the kind that takes one bite, and you are gone. Just love stories like this, makes my day, although not the characters in this story. Not much else to say except that I want more of the same.
A great update of the lost world. Great read
Well enjoyed from cover to cover!
Exciting novel. Amazing story line. High adventure.
Interesting story, but leaves you feeling down. Not interested in a sequel. Could have been so much more.
I’m not sure why I selected this book. It’s far from the type of book I usually select. In fact, I read two chapters and put it down. I didn’t think it had grabbed me. But I couldn’t stop thinking about the plot. I picked the book back up, finished it, and read book 2 and 3. I often had to willingly suspend disbelief, but I often need to do that when reading magazines, newspapers or other genre of fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed Primordia’s plot, characters and the research done by Beck which made the premise of the book fall within the realm of my imagination.
Its right there in the title, The Lost World. If you enjoy Arthur Conan Doyle, Edgar Rice Burroughs or the like, then this should be enjoyable for you. A pretty worthy attempt at re-imagining the material in a modern world. The main characters are engaging enough to capture our interest at the outset to read on to arrive at the Lost World part. Then it becomes suprises and survival, with plenty of scary to keep us on edge.
Fun and well done for the genre it is.
Ben, our main character
, is the grandson of an explorer who actually knew A. C. Doyle and related his adventures via letters and drawings. When grandpa, in a 1918 expedition, barely escapes his latest adventure his notes find their way to Doyle. After his dads funeral, Ben finds a letter from Doyle remarking on that last quest and begins to look for his grandfather’s now lost notebook. The rest leads to his own modern day quest and off we go. Easy read that feels like a Saturday matinee tale. Kinda cool really.
Was o.k. for a first chapter. Not good enough to purchase.
An intriguing story with a single intent. Sell all the follow up books of the series with no idea how long it might go on. I’m not on board nor will I follow up on the series.
A different take on the Lost World. Great character building thru out the story line, especially who to root for and against. Nicely researched information on past creatures from that period. I really liked the author’s notes at the end of where he got his research from. A very easy trilogy to follow and get hooked into.
It is a page Turner, really enjoyed reading it.
Great story, love those monsters, they just want to eat you lol, characters are superb, bring us more!
I was surprised by how much I liked this book, the writing made me believe it could have been a real event.
This book was great. I loved that it blended information about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle into the story in a completely believable way. The ending was a total surprise and definitely made me anxious to read the next book in the series.
Unique twist on an old theme. Hard to put down.
