Shattered in forgotten memories.Sugar survived a shifter attack but it left her broken. Paralyzed on the left side, she fights for her independence in her day-to-day life. Her worst injury, the scars on her soul, has her pushing Daedalus away. How could he still love her when she is just a shadow of herself? But a new threat on Daedalus’ life yanks the veil of self-pity from her eyes and she’s … from her eyes and she’s resolved to protect him, even precariously balanced with her cane.
The vampire council sends an emissary to Daedalus. His clan brother, another Nosferatu vampire, hands him an ultimatum. Return to his post as Prime at Pal Robi Inc. or he’ll kill Sugar and her shifter friends. Daedalus has brought enough trouble into Sugar’s life. He won’t be responsible for more, so he agrees to leave Chicago.
To both warriors surprise, Sugar’s not willing to remain behind, and with her own shifter guards she’s ready to help Daedalus regain control of company.

I wondered how it was going to be possible for Sugar and Daedalus to get a true happy ever after with her stubborn insistence on remaining human. Even more so in the aftermath of the attack from the previous book. I kind of hate the way the solution is forced on them, but I can’t be too angry at getting my wish for their happy ending. There’s lots of drama and angst in this book along with plenty of humor and action. This was the perfect way to complete the story of the Vanguards, as well as setting the stage for us to learn more about snarky, enigmatic Pallas
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.
It was amazing
This is a well written adventure that left me feeling happy and who doesn’t need a happy distraction these days?
Sugar makes such leaps and bounds in Prima. She has been through a lot. Daedalus finally shares his some of history and who he really is with Sugar. However, he still keeps a lot close to the vest and doesn’t tell anyone anything. The story wrapped up some things but it was more about Sugar and Daedalus’ relationship, where they were and where they needed to go. The introduction of Pallus brings much appreciated humor and sarcasm. I liked were this story ended and where the characters are headed.
The story while part of the series can be read without knowing a lot of the background. There is enough filler to let you know what is going on. For full enjoyment, you will want to read the other stories.
Preoccupied and struggling with Sugar’s wishes and the burden it placed on him, his time for reflection was coming to an end, he needed to take over his duties as Pal Robi’s Prime and deal with those who were trying to kill him. It didn’t help that he had another Nosferatus pushing him because there was no turning back and what was coming was dangerous. I have come to appreciate Dedalus a lot. Interesting how his love for Sugar has humanized him a little more! The stubborn woman had wasted a lot of time suffering herself and making suffer others who were trying, by all means, to protect and help her get out of the depression that was consuming her. Action, suspense, strong emotions, amusing scenes and comments, tender situations, violence and lot of heated passion. Had not read Pallas, book and liked his character that left me intrigued. Needless to say, I’m going after his book after this one.
The final book in this series goes out with a bang. Rogue vampires out to get Daedalus threaten him and more importantly Sugar the love of his life. Since she is human he is extra cautious. As Dadaelus cleans house something happens to Sugar that will change their lives. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
The finale to an amazing series! This tale finally addresses the choice between a life of physical challenges versus a life with your one true love. Absolutely loved the direction this author chose to take with the decision! Will definitely miss these characters but I know this is a series I will pick up again. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Sugar has been having a rough time since her injury. She’s not recovering as quickly as she would have if Daedalus had been allowed to interfere. But he stood by Sugar’s wishes, she wants to remain Human but his heart breaks a little more every day when she is in agony.
Add in Pal Robi Inc have sent a messenger with an ultimatum, Daedalus returns or Sugar, the pack and their associates all end up dead!
I really felt for Sugar in this book. Being permanently crocked I understand her pain but believe you me if I was offered a bite to get fixed I’d jump on it! Vampiric politics are just as mucked up and corrupt as human ones.
