There are many rules a priest can’t break. A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.I’ve always been good at following rules.Until she came. Then I learned new rules.
My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I’m twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am … altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am a priest and this is my confession.
Priest is a full-length standalone with an HEA. For Mature Audiences Only
This was the first book I read from Sierra and since then she got a fan. I decided to reread this book some weeks ago and I just love it as much as the first time.
I always have a hard time reading taboo books but Sierra is just amazing in the way she develops the story and the characters. I really love Tyler and Poppy and they’re one of the hotest couples of all times.
This is by far my most favorite deliciously taboo read of all time. Fyi, do not read in public as you will get drenched with how scandalously sensual this gets.
Loved it!
To date this book is in my top 5 re-reads! I very rarely find a book good enough to re-read it once let alone several times. I love taboo forbidden romances. They speak to my defiant soul but this one is different as you can feel the H’s inner turmoil. And I won’t even get in depth on the sex scenes! They are steamy, hot, forbidden, and detailed in such a way that you are transported into the book! Holy cow I’m 45 and the sex scenes aren’t usually my go to for books I like them as much as the next person but don’t miss them if they aren’t there. But the way Sierra wrote them in here whew ummm is it getting hot in here or is it just me lol great book you won’t regret buying it!
OH MY GOODNESS! Why did I let this book sit in my tbr for so long?

This is one of those rare books that I doubt I will forget anytime soon. What makes me remember and love a book? The book has to be original, needs to have characters that touch me in some way, a story that has me turning the pages or in this case…listening all day, it needs to leave me with messy emotions and lastly, I need to feel like telling EVERYONE about the book. Priest is one of those rare, phenomenal books!
I can totally see how this book could offend, but I love to be pushed out of my comfort zone, and when you strip away the collar, this story is about two people that are meant for each other but have incredible obstacles to overcome. In this case the obstacle is Tyler Bell is a priest who took a vow, and Poppy is about to make him question everything, including who he is and what his future holds.
Father Tyler Bell is a young priest who has been serving the church for several years trying to make amends for the guilt of a past trauma. Poppy Danforth is a debutante, Dartmouth Grad, and came from a wealthy family. Poppy was expected to marry a wealthy man, join charities, and have 2.5 children. On the day of her graduation Poppy walks away from it all, walks away from the life that has been planned out for her forever.
Priest is about two individuals overcoming guilt, trauma, pain, expectations and learning to let love guide them. They have to learn to trust someone with their pain, desires, secrets, and guilt. Poppy and Tyler will not have an easy path, but I got the HEA that I wanted so desperately! This book is dirty, gritty, emotional, and so incredibly good. Poppy and Tyler’s chemistry is off the charts, but their growth as they get to know each other is remarkable.
I totally recommend this audiobook (the narrators were fantastic) and can’t wait to read more in this series!
So, let me start off by stating that I started 2021 off with a bang with this book. Priest just oozed sex. From the cover to the book to the words written inside, all sex. NOW, don’t get me wrong when I say this BUT I almost feel like there was too much sex and not enough plot to tide me over with this book. I love me some sex scenes but after 50% into the book, I found myself skimming the pages to get to the next scene. I found myself wishing that there would have been a bit more of a struggle for Tyler before he “stopped” struggling with his issue.
I wish that I had found Poppy to be a more solid character. I didn’t understand her as a character besides being horny all the time. I just needed a tad more in depth in terms of plot and character development. HOWEVER, with that said, this book is totally up someone’s avenue if you love a book filled with sex to the brim. You have it! The scenes are graphic and vulgar. Sierra did not miss the mark on that at all. I’m not saying I hated this book because I liked it – I just didn’t love it. Solid 3 stars for me.
The main thing that attracted me to this book to begin with was the theme of forbidden. Again, she definitely delivered on that mark!
* I will point out that this was the first book by Sierra that I have read and I will continue to read her backlist and new releases. I enjoyed her writing and would like to see her other work.*

Bless me Father for I have sinned…Lord knows that Father Bell is so freaking hot He has me considering all sorts of things
Definitely listen to the audio
Superb from start to finish.
Forgive me, Father. I have sinned.
Father Bell is a priest, resolved to his life of devotion and faith, who, in the church, meets Popy … attractive, forbidden, and uninhibited, and his personal struggle with the cloth and feelings ensue. But don’t let the collar fool you. Tyler Bell is as dominant pre-priesthood, and he is at the altar. Altar…which calls about some of the tingly taboo and titillating feelings this story evokes.
Character development was excellent; the story centers primarily around the two characters, Tyler and Popy and told mainly from the perspective of Tyler in a Catholic church setting. And while the text might come across as a lot of inner thinking, instead temptation, questioning, and doubt, the writing is pure poetry capturing the soul-searching, introspection, and self-actualization of Tyler.
The pace was steady, particularly when listened to as an audiobook, which made the story living, real, art depicted as life. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Popy, messy, irrationally indecisive (too much push) to his pull — Tyler’s devotion to her, his eventual acceptance of circumstance, and willingness to give it all up. What’s not to love? I certainly couldn’t imagine saying no.
Probably one of the spiciest books I have ever read. All the dirty and loving talk I could hope for. And while Sinner remains my favorite, Priest is at close second. A memorable, excellent read.
Holy Hotness!
Tyler Bell is a priest but it seems even priests can be tempted. This book is a taboo romance that could take you way out side of your comfort zone. For me – I loved it. All the hot steamy moments and the true dilemma Tyler found himself in. I cannot begin to imagine what would go thru ones mind when trying to balance your calling with the temptations of that one person who turns your world upside down. Overall it was a good story and if you love the taboo it is definitely for you!
I really enjoyed this book – the novelty, the wrestling with faith, and of course the romance underneath it all.
I really enjoyed this book. I’ve never read anything with a Spiritual vibe before but… wow! Did I love this. The characters were well developed, the story was well written and the sex was off the charts hot. I immediately read the follow up and I am currently reading Sinner. Don’t miss this one if your growing tired of the same old alpha billionaires.
Such an amazing book. Father Bell is such a wonderful, magnetic, intriguing character. Loved it.
After hearing so many talk about Priest I had to check it out. And let me tell you it was hot!! The chemistry between Tyler and Poppy was on point. Add that bit of forbidden romance to it and it only increases all the tension.
It was definitely a unique romance book. The fact that he was still a devoted Christian throughout his journey earned him serious respect points. Poppy’s faith was also beautiful to watch unfold. This idea that all three relationships grew together (Tyler/God, Poppy/God, and Tyler/Poppy) kept me fully engaged.
The only downfall for me was the amount of inner dialogue. I felt like pages flew by but nothing was really happening. Other than that, the book was well written and had a unique storyline that entertains you while encouraging you to think deeper. I would definitely recommend this book to forbidden romance lovers.
I’ve never been much for the priest trope but OMG this book is the sexiest thing I’ve ever read. Hot and full of feels!
Wow. Most of the comments on here are a “wow” for the heat level… but as someone who’s had a complicated relationship with organized religion all my life, I actually found that this book spoke to me on a much deeper level than the “hot taboo smut” that a lot of the other reviews discuss. I haven’t ever read a book that so profoundly connected the divine and sexuality with such explicit sexual descriptions.
I’m sure some people will definitely have issues with the religious content, and others will focus on the taboo nature of the relationship, but… at the core of this is a man who thinks he knows everything about himself and the woman he falls for who upends it completely. It’s fairly common in romance novels no matter the heat level, but the way he actually gets closer to the divine when they make love… well, it’s pretty impressive.
This story was so beautiful and also a bit heartbreaking. Being torn between loving a woman and his devotion to God, Tyler doesn’t know how to feel. Can Poppy show him what he really wants in his life? Can he be brave enough to go for it? This book was so hot! The narration was amazing! A truly beautiful book from Sierra Simone.
Fated Mates got me curious about this book. This book backed up to the places where I draw the line- it may go over yours. The end is satisfying, but I wouldn’t call it a HEA. The main characters were not always likable, but they were complex.
When a priest shouldn’t have taken those vows in the first place …
Tyler certainly isn’t your ordinary, devoted priest. Yes, he’s devoted to God, and after a tragedy he believes that he’s meant to turn this devotion into a calling. But clearly, he wasn’t ready for all that his new profession required of him.
When Poppy shows up in his confessional, their instant attraction – fueled by a healthy serving of the forbidden fruit – quickly leads to the affair that we all knew was coming before the book even starts. The meat of the story is in how they each deal with balancing their growing attraction, sexual chemistry, and the moral quandary they find themselves in.
Tyler’s efforts to reconcile his conflicting emotions and passions knows no boundaries, so if you’re easily offended by mixing the sacred and the sensual, then you’ll want to avoid this book. Open minds are an absolute must with this story.
Their HEA finds everything sorted out and aligned with their faith in a very satisfactory-on-the-outside manner that still contains a behind-closed-door layer of naughtiness that’s true to their characters.
Such an emotional, and well written love story!!
Sierra Simone is a master writer!! She describes Father Tyler Bell’s character in such a vivid way! Poppy, his love, forbidden love interest.
Her first ever confession in a Catholic Church with a hot Priest! That was the beginning of them, and the end for Father Bell, the Priest!
Explosive, taboo and yet so beautiful, this storyline is so well written.
I was immensely impressed by Simone’s writing, this being the first of her books I read. Priest is as erotic as they come, and (delightfully, unexpectedly) crafted with confident, elegant language.
