FROM EXCITING ROMANCE AUTHOR ELLEN MINTBook one in the Happily Ever Austen seriesWhen a cold-hearted singer and a hard-headed journalist are trapped together in a blizzard, there will be sparks—and pancakes. When Beth Cho is tasked with interviewing elusive musician Tristan Harty, it’s hate at first sight. Despite his sapphire-blue eyes and lithe frame, he’s got to be the most infuriating man on … he’s got to be the most infuriating man on the planet.
Tristan Harty is already sick of reporters and this one is proving no different. Sure, she might be adorable with her ebony hair and big brown eyes, but her incessant need to dig into his past is dragging on his last nerve.
The bickering duo vow never to meet again, but Mother Nature has other plans for them, trapping them in a Vermont cabin via a blizzard. The more Beth learns about the aristocratic Tristan, the harder it is for her to keep her professional distance, just as Tristan discovers that a loving heart beats inside the beautiful reporter.
But what happens when the snowstorm’s over, and the melted Tristan and enamored Beth are free to leave? Can their reluctant attraction bloom into a deeper love now their cold-as-ice judgment has thawed?
Pride and Pancakes is a sweet yet steamy contemporary story inspired by the immortal Pride & Prejudice. There are references to sexual abuse, death from drug overdose and death in car crash.

Beth heads to a resort cabin to interview a has-been singer attempting a comeback. Tristan is less than cooperative, and shuts down the conversations after a few minutes. Unfortunately, a snow storm has blown in early, and neither of them can get out. Despite the freezing outside, they start to thaw out inside. Until secrets threaten to tear them apart. This is my first read from this author – but not the last. The title is what drew me in, but the story is wonderful. The characters are real and imperfect, with exactly the right chemistry.

Book one in the Happily Ever Austen series a well written story with a very good storyline. Beth Cho is tasked with interviewing elusive musician Tristan Harty, and they do not like each other in the beginning. I enjoyed reading how they come together, because of a blizzard trapping them in a Vermont cabin. I want to read more in this series. The title of this book drew me in. Then the cover. Then the affirmation of an Austen inspiration. And finally, the club got me revved up. And let me tell you, this book did not disappoint. The celebrity artist vs journalist, enemies to lovers, pride and prejudice – it was all right on. I enjoyed this book immensely. I am super excited that this is the first book in a series!

This book went from hostile to hot back to hostile and lead right to forever. Sprinkled in were humor, some of their real truths, an act of heroism and love moments that bonded them in a way Beth’s ummm inquisitiveness didn’t. Tristan was NOT having it!!! But what can ya do when snow is keeping you captive and there’s no other human within miles?? Exactly!!! But they will always have pancakes…

It was cute. Beth and Tristan couldn’t stand each other. Beth, a reporter and Tristan a celebrity making a comeback. They eventually fell for each other, it definitely wasn’t love at first sight. I liked the way the author had them gradually fall love.
This is a great read with an awesome storyline that has well developed and engaging characters that have lots of chemistry. The smooth flow of the storyline makes for a good reading time. It’s always a pleasure to read books by this author.

I got an arc of this book for my honest review via Storyorigin, and appreciate that i was able to read a sample of the book before committing to the book.
This was my first book by this author and i enjoyed it.
For me it could have developed a bit faster in the beginning and i didn’t really understand Beth’s anger. The dramatic turn of events gave me a bit of a whiplash and the romantic reunion i would have wished for a bit more oomph, but that’s probably personal preference.
It was an entertaining read
I did read an arc, so the book could have changed some since i read it.
Everyone loves a good story with secrets!
Beth is a journalist who is supposed to interview Tristan. Tristan is a star struggling to come back into the light after time away.
They get stuck at a cabin-snowed in.
During the days they get to know one another a little at a time.
However there are always secrets that threaten any relationship.
Can they overcome these secrets and be together?
I have not read a story by this author and I enjoyed it. I will be on the lookout for more.
Sweet and inviting
Mint pens another romantic story in Pride and Pancakes. I love stories that start out where the impending couple bickers and clashes. This is one of those, but it’s not predictable, or a cookie-cutter story. Mint writes one of a kind romances, and I enjoyed this. I like how Mint can put together a couple, in the best places, and let the characters dictate what happens next. Tristan and Beth are unique and multi-dimensional characters that lead them to be stranded in a blizzard. Now, that’s all I’m saying. I enjoyed this story, very much. I look forward to reading more by this author. This read is definitely recommended by Amy’s Bookshelf Reviews.
This is the first book I’ve ever read by Ellen Mint and I absolutely loved it! The characters were perfectly written, how even though they disliked each other they still had amazing chemistry. I really cannot wait to see what Ms. Mint comes up with.
Beth was assigned to do a story on a comeback singer Tristan in a honeymoon cabin where he was having a photo shoot for his comeback Christmas album. Tristian is known for his hatred of the media and even though he thinks Beth is pretty he still hates them but a blizzard stops them both from escaping. Beth has her reasons for being a reporter and Tristian has his for hating them but stuck for three days without much food and very little basics could change the way they see each other. Really was a sweet story even though Tristian was a bear and Beth had no problem handling it.
Really well written story. I could not put this book down. I liked the chemistry these characters had when they were enemies and when they were lovers. Great book.
This is my first book by Ellen Mint but it definitely won’t be my last. I absolutely adored these main characters and I loved how they took the time to get to know each other first before taking their relationship to the next level. Definitely a change from the usual rushed into relationships. I really enjoyed reading this book and I could not put it down. Fantastic read and highly recommended.
Timeless gets a makeover and breezes it’s way into your heart. Mint does Austen proud with a modern twist to an old classic. Pride & Pancakes crosses stereotypes with humor and heart that will stay with you, no matter how many times you read Beth & Tristan’s tango into love.
I was excited to read this book. The cover was cute, it look like it sweet clean romance. As I started to get into the story I realized there were some swear words . The more I continued reading the more I had a feeling, that this was not going to be a sweet clean romance.. I finally looked up some reviews on different sites and realized was not type of book I’d like to read. The premise of the book was inspired by Pride and prejudice by Jane Austin, there were no swearing or descriptive sex scenes in any of her books. Now granted I did not finish this book and I’m relying on other reviews telling the truth, but I also found it to be very slow and truly boring.
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review. I’m really sorry I couldn’t give it a better review. It is just not my cup of tea!
This was an okay read for me. Beth and Tristan as characters were developed with their own flaws and bias’s. Tristan the heart throb trying to make a comeback after an intense event. Beth a journalist sent to get his story. In a way this was a hate to lover story. It takes a bit before the characters connect with the second half of the book being the more enjoyable half.

Pride and Pancakes is a short and sassy story about a returning washed-up rock star and a reporter who are at each other’s throats until they are snowed in together and the sexual tension is too much to bare. Beth Cho is a reporter who goes for the throat as she is trying to prove to herself and the world that she is someone worth listening to. Tristan Harty is a has-been musician who wants to come out of retirement. As these two fight before succumbing to their lust for each other the tension is high. They have some witty sparring.
This story is a fast-tracked romance where the two characters give into their sexual tension in explicit escapades while snowed in at the cabin where they meet. While there are some light plot holes such as why they met at the cabin in the first place, the romantic story is brief but enjoyable. The explicit nature of the sex was unnecessary however the way the two characters reconciled after a misunderstanding led to an all-endearing happily ever after.
This is really a 3.5 star rating..I really didn’t get the feel for Tristian.. He was cocky and arrogant at first and yes he did show Beth his sensitive side but I didn’t really feel the connection between them. He didn’t treat her kindly at all and just treated her job like it was a joke. I do realize that in Pride and Prejudice, Mr. Darcy was a jerk who treated Elizabeth the same way. Anyway this book has a sweetness about it. When they are trapped at the cabin, his heart shows her a different side to him. It was nice to see and it was weird to read a rock star book without the antics that usually follows. I know he is a has been in the music world but he’s still known. He has a new album and the reason he does it is sweet. I do like how she becomes his muse for new songs. That was cool.
