FROM EXCITING ROMANCE AUTHOR ELLEN MINTBook one in the Happily Ever Austen seriesWhen a cold-hearted singer and a hard-headed journalist are trapped together in a blizzard, there will be sparks—and pancakes. When Beth Cho is tasked with interviewing elusive musician Tristan Harty, it’s hate at first sight. Despite his sapphire-blue eyes and lithe frame, he’s got to be the most infuriating man on … he’s got to be the most infuriating man on the planet.
Tristan Harty is already sick of reporters and this one is proving no different. Sure, she might be adorable with her ebony hair and big brown eyes, but her incessant need to dig into his past is dragging on his last nerve.
The bickering duo vow never to meet again, but Mother Nature has other plans for them, trapping them in a Vermont cabin via a blizzard. The more Beth learns about the aristocratic Tristan, the harder it is for her to keep her professional distance, just as Tristan discovers that a loving heart beats inside the beautiful reporter.
But what happens when the snowstorm’s over, and the melted Tristan and enamored Beth are free to leave? Can their reluctant attraction bloom into a deeper love now their cold-as-ice judgment has thawed?
Pride and Pancakes is a sweet yet steamy contemporary story inspired by the immortal Pride & Prejudice. There are references to sexual abuse, death from drug overdose and death in car crash.

Pride and Pancakes was a sweet, steamy, read. It was a definite page turner. This was Tristan Hardy and Beth Cho’s story. A washed up singer from the past and reporter from a rag mag, this pair started as enemies. By the end of the tale. After getting snowed in this pair found a mutual ground and understanding that turned into something very special.
I’m looking forward to reading more by Ellen Mint in the future.
A complete romp of a “omg we’re trapped in a cabin in the snow” enemies to lovers, grumpy-sunshine take on a classic.
I highly recommend it for a quick, satisfying read!
This was a fun little enemies-to-lovers story. I loved how Beth and Tristan were forced to get to know each other by being into close quarters. Who would have guessed the past that Tristan was trying to hide? With their initial dislike of each other, there were some sweet events that took place between the two. I also love that I know of the place he grew up. That was a nice surprise.
This snappy, unusual romance whisked me away. Loved the dialogue, the fun setting, and the snarly-at-times, lovable, and realistic characters. Loved the author’s unusual style. If you’re looking for something that’s not a cookie-cutter romance, you’ve just found it.
Pride and Pancakes was an adorable winter romance inspired by Pride and Prejudice. Tristan Harty has experienced his share of heartache and loss–and has always found himself on the bad side of the media. Beth Cho, who wants to be taken seriously as a writer, is working on a book of her own, and is not thrilled to be sent to a mountain cabin to interview Tristan about his musical comeback. And his standoffish attitude is not helping at all either. Add in a blizzard–stranding Tristan and Beth alone in the cabin for multiple days with little to occupy them–you end up with the right amount of flirty banter, quiet personal talks, and steamy romance. I was interested in knowing a little more about Beth’s background; you definitely get a somewhat more clear picture of Tristan and what has happened in his life to bring him to this point. It is loosely based on Pride and Prejudice–but the bickering/banter and chemistry between Tristan and Beth is worth the read. Definitely recommend! Thank you to the author and Voracious Readers Only for the chance to read this book.
Pride and Pancakes makes an interesting read and shows us why we should never judge a person by what said person allow us to see. Judgement can only be done after we get to know each other or after we get in depth knowledge of a subject. There are some steamy parts but that is not the story´s main subject. It´s a love story full of hurt on both sides and only after getting to know each other could be lived in full.
I got a free copy of this book from the author/StoryOrigin in exchange for an honest review.
Fun and delightful story. The characters were engaging and fun. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. When a singer and a journalist are together in an out of the way cabin for an interview during a blizzard things can get interesting. What’s going to happen when the snowstorm is over and her article comes out? Will it be a storm of another type? Read it and see.
Pride and Pancakes (Happily Ever Austen Book 1)
Ellen Mint
This is the first book I have read by Ellen Mint, and I really enjoyed her style of writing, so it will not be my last. Beth Cho wants to be a reporter/journalist and is writing a book, but she needs to eat and pay rent, so she is working for a entertainment rag. Tristan is a former rock star that is trying to make a comeback and just released a Christmas album. Tristan has reasons to not trust journalists, and Beth had preconceived notions of Tristan and seems to hate him. She attempts to humiliate him by the way she sets up the room he is being interviewed in. They need to finish the interview, and end up getting stuck in the honeymoon cabin because a blizzard blows in. Eventually they begin talking and start showing their true selves to each other. The way Tristan showed Beth how to ice skate was so tender and amazing. You need to read the book to see what happens, and how once they opened up and trusted each other, it turned everything around….but of course there was another twist that was huge for Tristan, and made Beth feel so bad. Her article, however was amazing. You need to read it to find out about that and the song Tristan wrote for Beth. It was well worth the time I spent on this book, and I said 4 stars, but I feel it’s really 4.5.
An enjoyable sweet holiday read. An entertaining storyline with misunderstandings, ups and downs, secrets, trusting a fun plot as these two get stranded in a cabin with limited resources. The characters are interesting with some heat and a HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
When Beth Cho Arrived to interview elusive musician Tristan Harty, I just knew it wasn’t going to be a good start for her as the manager was not happy at all. This book really draws you in as the snow falls outside and the possibility that things were about to interesting was strong. I really enjoying reading this book and see what was going to happen between Beth and Tristan.
This was a fun snowed-in story about a former boy band star and the reporter sent to interview him for his comeback. At first, I didn’t like Beth at all, so I worried about making it through the book. Fortunately, once Beth and Tristan were snowed in at the cabin where the interview took place, both characters began to reveal more of themselves and became much more relatable. Tristan and Beth might not have had much in common with Pride and Prejudice, but I did enjoy their story. It was good to watch them go from enemies to lovers to a couple in love. Very nice!
This book started out when I was like really these two and really getting on my nerves but really once the snow started this is when the story really got going. I loved the way the author got them talking and when thy did it was great.
Like most of my favorite love stories, this one starts off with a hate relationship and turns in to something more. Beth has to interview Tristan and HUGE stick up his bottom with his biased opinions on reports. As the story progresses you will be hooked and need to find out how it ends. It was an easy read with great characters. I rather enjoyed it.
Pride and Pancakes was a great read. The book revealed a strong attraction between Beth and Tristan. Beth has come to interview the has-been singer and Tristan is uncooperative, and shuts down. A twisted, uncanny story with down to earth sex scenes with a spicy relationship that seemed to deteriorate from the beginning, but turns to trust. I won tell the outcome. Read the book. It is that good.

Tristan was a teen idol, he wrote and sang his own songs, Years later he’s trying for a come back. Beth is a reporter and she has to interview Tristan to keep her job. When they meet at the interview it’s hate at first sight, to make matters worse they get snow in together. They both have trust issues but the more there together the more they get to know each other and start to trust each other. I really enjoyed this book.
New author to me. I thoroughly enjoyed the story line as well as the multidimensional characters. Yes it is a romance but with a lot of drama to hold your interest until the very end.
