It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune will be gruesomely murdered at the ball.Mina’s excited to attend the annual Argleton Jane Austen Experience at the stately Baddesley Hall. It’s just what she needs after all the recent murders – a whole weekend of dancing with Morrie, attending poetry readings with Quoth, and helping Heathcliff field … helping Heathcliff field marriage proposals from adoring fans.
But murder and intrigue follow Mina everywhere. When an eminent Austen scholar is run through with his own sword, Mina and her boys must solve the mystery before the killer claims another victim.

Pride and Premeditation Steffanie by Steffanie Holmes is book Three in the Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries Series. This continues the story of Wilhelmina ‘Mina’ Wilde. You really should read the previous books A Dead and Stormy Night along with the second book, Of Mice and Murder.
Mina, Morrie, Quoth and Heathcliff have been solving murders that have been going on in their small town. Now they are offered a Jane Austen Experience weekend at Lachlan Manor by one of the suspects that they cleared along with a few other people. Of course they plan on downtime and enjoying the period theme setting but murder has followed them. Now they are out to solve the new drama adventures in their lives.
Ms. Holmes knows how to write books that keep you turning pages with the mysteries but also with the characters and their hot story lines.
Perfection! So many wonderful characters and intricate story parts to juggle. I applaud this author! The romance deepens between the main characters and is really well done.. I voluntarily received this book for an honest review.
Pride and Premeditation (Nevermore Bookshop Mysteries Book 3) Kindle Edition
by Steffanie Holmes
I borrowed this book via Kindle Unlimited and am choosing to leave a fair and honest review.
It was August, 1990. I was riding the bus to my summer session classes at Portland State University. I remember it vividly. A professor recommended Northhanger Abbey because I really loved Charlotte Bronte. To my shock, and the shock of everyone on that stuffy Tri-Met bus, I found it hysterically funny. That was my introduction to Jane Austen. Two weeks of laugh filled bus rides and lunches in the dead of August.
I was so happy to recapture that feeling with this book.
As usual, Ms Holmes hits one out of the park or would that be something less American, like kicked a solid GOOOOAAAAL. Whichever sports metaphor you want to use, this book is amazing. Ms. Holmes not only plunks one of the characters from Pride And Prejudice (and capture the character so well, I could hear the performer in the A&E/BBC masterpiece) she manages to absorb and make use of Jane Austen’s writing style brilliantly.
Our Mina and her adorable harem try to avoid anymore homicides. Of course, there would be no story if there were not any crimes to investigate. She, Moriarty and Heathcliff go to a Jane Austin Experience in the nearby mansion. At the same time as she was attempting to dodge thieves and murderers, Mina has just learned that her vision is getting worse far faster than she originally thought. And then there are wonderful, hot and imaginative sex scenes.
While I enjoyed the many leads for the villains and the red herrings were wonderful, I was more interested in Mina’s struggle and her eternal hope. This was the deepest part of the series. There was real depth there.
Ms. Holmes is a singular talent. She is able to write in any field and has an encyclopedic knowledge of those fields and their conventions. I am just so thrilled to read every one of her books and series.
Her books are truly 5 out of 5 stars, just like this one.

Mina and her three lovers, Morrie, Quoth, and Heathcliff are still coming across murders and solving them. I absolutely love this series and all of the characters.
Mina and her lovers, Morrie, Heathcliff, and Quoth return in Pride and Premeditation. It’s the third book of this quirky, steamy, murder mystery series about a magical bookshop where characters from books come to life. In this book, Mina and her guys attend a weekend event celebrating Jane Austen and end up having to solve a murder.
I love this foursome! They have fantastic chemistry together and are irresistible. The writing is great and the story premise is delightfully original. The relationships between the characters advance in this book and they all experience some growth. Looking forward to the next book of the series.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mina Wilde and her boys Morrie, Heathcliff and Quoth are right there to help her but now she has brought someone else to life even though is not as entertaining as the boys are. They just solved a murder and now they have been invited to the Jane Austen Experience for the weekend and all sorts of interesting and disastrous alone the way. Greats characters and the story line was very mysterious.
I was given an ARC from the author without obligation. I am providing an honest review.
My favorite story of this series. So much happens in this book. The time traveling room is explored more, we find out more of Mina’s connection with the bookstore, they have another murder to solve, but that’s not all. Of course, we are also left with more questions. And Mina’s still coming to terms with her Retinitis Pigmentosa. This tale is witty, and wry, and keeps you guessing while delving into so many feelings. Just a great read.
