All I wanted was a tattoo. What I got was a broody, enigmatic demigod with an electrifying touch and a mysterious past. We were night and day in every way possible, not an ounce of anything in common, and yet, I wanted him in the worst way. It didn’t matter that he was emotionally unavailable or that he was exactly the kind of man who would give my father a coronary should I dare to bring him … should I dare to bring him home. It didn’t matter that his heart was wrapped in barbed wire or that he made me promise never to fall for him.
None of it mattered because he was the most perfectly imperfect, beautifully tortured soul I’d ever known, and I was besotted, addicted to all the thrilling and wondrous ways he made me feel when we were together.
They say a single moment can change the entire trajectory of your life. But looking back, I never could have imagined all the ways my world would change the moment it collided with his.

On the twists and turns in this book. I love every word. Couldn’t put it down. Love the characters. The banter between Madden and the whole entire world is funny and some what sad.
Will Madden’s commitment issues keep Brighton away?
This is my 9th book by Winter and I love an author who writes in dual point of view. Brighton gets Madden to give her any tattoo as long as it is somewhere hidden. She asks Madden several times why he doesn’t have any tattoos, to which he only responds that he hasn’t found the right one. When they keep running into each other for various reasons, a kiss sets the stage for more. Madden only wants friends with benefits and tells Brighton this ends when she feels something more. Will Brighton be able to come to terms with her career choice over her parents’ wishes? Will Madden ever want a relationship? What will happen when Brighton’s past collides with Madden’s? You will want to read the book in one sitting, because you need to know how it ends.
Madden and Brighton are complete opposites. He is from the wrong side of the tracks and owns. a tattoo shop. She is a girl who lives in a mansion and is scheduled to start med school in the fall. From the outside looking in, you would think Brighton had a perfect life. In the beginning I was thinking “poor little rich girl”. Once you look beyond the surface her life is anything but ideal. Her life is micromanaged by her parents. She needs a taste is freedom and rebellion. She meets Madden at the perfect time. He promised her she will never be the same and she wasn’t. Madden is the typical brooding hero. Again wants the layers are pealed back, you get a someone who has had a lot to deal with at a young age. Her appears cold and callous but takes care of his sister and has a close knit group of friends. There lives intertwine and what is fake becomes real. Overall, I loved the story but the ending seemed rushed.

An amazing, realistic, original story. I could not put this book down. I read straight through the wee hours of the morning. This tale read like a screen play. The H/h are very down to earth characters. The H’s, Madden’s, heart is closed off to emotions and love. Madden has had more than his share of tragedy in his life. He has a matter of fact attitude and is not afraid to express what he thinks. Although he thinks before he speaks. He has his own business and looks after his twelve-year-old sister. The h, Brighton’s, home life is suffocating. Most of Brighton’s decisions are made by her mother or her father. Brighton also has witnessed tragedy and now her parents don’t let her out of their sight. She has to account for herself twenty-four/seven. Brighton longs to be free. She craves it like air. But her parent’s expectations of her causes her to hesitate. She has two older brothers that she is close to and she confides in them what she is going through. Eben, one of her brothers, tells her to follow her heart, to do what makes her happy. As an act of defiance, Brighton gets a small, easy to hide tattoo. She tells the tattoo artist he can choose what she is to have tattooed. That’s where she met Madden. There were sparks between them. But Madden was so closed off emotionally he could only offer a purely physical relationship. He did not want to have any feelings except pleasure. After weeks of being together, Brighton shares her deepest darkest pain with Madden. Madden’s past was no picnic. It was so awful that Madden changed his last name so he would not be reminded of the past. But little did Brighton nor Madden know their lives were intertwined before they even met. This is definitely a complex and difficult romance. The story takes you on a roller-coaster ride with spins, twists and turns. Brighton’s and Madden’s feelings are raw and real. I loved reading this book and highly recommend it. I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Definitely read Pricked, you won’t want to put it down once you start! Winter Renshaw is so good at creating characters whom you want to have a HEA. Brighton and Madden are wonderful creations and Ms. Renshaw is spot on with creating dialogue that is believable and true to the age and description of them. I especially appreciate the Brighton is a strong, self-confident woman who doesn’t need rescued. Brighton and Madden evolve and come together in an organic way that feels believable.

Brighton Karrington has lived a very sheltered life due to a traumatic event that occurred when she was a little girl. Maddox Ransom is the brooding tattoo artist that she meets when she decides to rebel against her overbearing parents. Pricked started off slow but I found myself enjoying both characters. I instantly fell in love with Brighton – unlike other entitled princesses that come from wealth, her heart was kind and all she wanted to do is help others. Maddox feels an instant connection to her, however, he fights his feelings until he can no longer resist the pull. This story is less angsty than other books Winter Renshaw have written, however, the web of interrelated circumstances kept my attention the entire time. I easily finished the book in one sitting! If you’re looking for an enjoyable bad boy-good girl read, this book is for you. Highly recommended!
There are plot twists and then there are truly shocking twists that turn an entire novel on its head. Super sexy Madden finds Brighton irresistible and the sexy interludes are amazing but this romance also has heart. Definitely worth a read!!

Another good read for this author. Perhaps a little bit different to her norm. A rich girl mets the boy from the wrong side of the tracks when she does something rebellious. Basically Maddenis a good guy keeping an eye out on his sister considering their family history. None of which I am going to divulge. Brighton also has some serious baggage that has made her parents very domineering & she longs to break free.
This isn’t a simple tale but you just wish for this couple to have a happy outcome. There are so many coincidences & the story is very interwoven. One thing I did guess but it was a very different outcome to what I expected.
I did find this very touching & I’m glad Brighton stood up for herself. Madden too deserved a better life & a happy one as well. This didn’t disappoint.

This new release was unexpectedly awesome. The story kept me interested from the start and it didn’t lose momentum. I loved the storyline and the characters were so easy to get to know that you can’t help but fall in love with them. This is a definite must read for a romance story that didn’t disappoint.
This book had it all-the characters whose histories will not define who they will become, the story that comes full circle, allll the feels. Can you tell I loved it? Brighton and Madden both have things they don’t share with others. They need each other for different reasons but love and permanence are off the table. From different backgrounds, their worlds oddly intersect and fit. The author has skilfully woven a tale that kept me invested and spellbound from the beginning. I adored everything about this story, especially the characters.
I am voluntarily leaving my opinion of a review copy of this book.
This pulled me in and would not let me go from the first page. Definitely a hangover inducing kind of story. I will be thinking about this for days to come.
I love how the writing makes you feel part by the story. I was so immersed it. Great writing, great characters, lots of angst and a beautiful ending.
Intense from the first to the last page
I loved everything because although initially it seemed simple, the story remains unpredictable until the end, with rather dark characters at the beginning of the story that are excellent, surprising by their past. The rich girl who seems perfect, insecured and over-protected by her mother; the dark tattoo artist, not tattooed, who protects his sister from the non-education of their mother. They suffer and oppose in everything, especially in fortune.
Brighton wants to free herself from the yoke of her parents who overprotect her since a crime committed more than 10 years before. She decides to get a tattoo and meets Madden who is a tattoo artist without a tattoo. By chance, she becomes the tutor for the summer of Madden’s sister. He refuses any relationship and can be unpleasant, execrable, and Brighton is quite complex and thinks that to enjoy her happiness, she must have suffered, which does not allow her parents.
So that is the risk she takes when she starts a relationship, in theory without feeling, with Madden.
But between the secrets of their families’ past and the denial of the feelings they actually have, the story takes a completely unexpected turn.

I absolutely love this book. It takes you on the lows and highs of Madden and Brighton’s relationship. I love how real their story felt and the emotions I had while reading this book.
Loved this book!! So much emotion and turmoil between the two characters! Really enjoyed the kid sister as well!! Lol This author is always a great read and this book was no different!
This was a good read. The writing flowed well, and I liked the characters. Madden and Brighton were good together, and they had great chemistry. Brighton’s parents were way over the top. I know that a horrible thing happened, but she wasn’t hurt, and they treated her like a 12 year old instead of a 22 year old. I liked Madden, and I thought that he was a good guy. I figured out early on that Brighton and Madden’s families were going to be connected, but I wasn’t expecting the curve ball thrown in about why it happened. I loved that Brighton finally stood up for herself, and chose Madden. The ending was super sweet!

Pricked….what a fitting title. Madden is a tattoo artist with a barbed attitude to match all the bloody poking his profession calls for. He and Brighton meet when she goes to him to get a tattoo.
I wouldn’t say getting pricked by Madden’s tattoo machine put Brighton into a unending slumber but more the reverse. It’s her first small step in waking up to what she really wants from her life and doing something about it.
I’m reluctant to say much more as I don’t want to give too much away but this may be my favorite Winter Renshaw book. I felt the characters’ connection more and I loved their acceptance of each other’s differences without creating unnecessary angst that I often see in other stories.
What a fantastic book!! So many layers and a story full of depth – start to finish. I don’t want to talk too much about the plot because spoilers suck, but I will say what spoke to me most was Brighton’s need to be herself and not judged. We all want to be accepted for who we are and we’ve all faced being judged for things out of our control. I loved Brighton’s determination to find that freedom and acceptance at any cost. This was a fantastic, engaging, must-read story!
I quickly fell under Madden and Brighton’s spell as they in turn fell for each other. This is a complex, emotional read about two people that are about as different as they can get. The well written plot simmers along and peels back more and more layers as you read. The story is filled with heartache, drama, sweetness, lies, secrets, intense emotions, twists and romance. A truly beautiful romance.
First off, I think the preview did a disservice by comparing this to Sleeping Beauty. It’s so, so much more.
Winter Renshaw has given us a storyline with depth, angst, and a plot twist you won’t see coming. Intertwine that with characters that are from two totally different worlds with their own baggage. Of course, as you follow the story, you’ll eventually get your HEA, making everything they’ve gone through worth it.

Brighton is from a wealthy family, and after a tragic event years previously, her parents are extremely protective of her, but she feels smothered and she just wants to break free and do her own thing. Madden is a tattoo artist whom Brighton sees with her little rebellious act. The two both have baggage, chemistry between them is intense, however Madden does not want any sort of permanent relationship. These two are total opposite, yet together they are perfect. This is a well written flawless story which is filled with twists, emotion, and love. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
