All I wanted was a tattoo. What I got was a broody, enigmatic demigod with an electrifying touch and a mysterious past. We were night and day in every way possible, not an ounce of anything in common, and yet, I wanted him in the worst way. It didn’t matter that he was emotionally unavailable or that he was exactly the kind of man who would give my father a coronary should I dare to bring him … should I dare to bring him home. It didn’t matter that his heart was wrapped in barbed wire or that he made me promise never to fall for him.
None of it mattered because he was the most perfectly imperfect, beautifully tortured soul I’d ever known, and I was besotted, addicted to all the thrilling and wondrous ways he made me feel when we were together.
They say a single moment can change the entire trajectory of your life. But looking back, I never could have imagined all the ways my world would change the moment it collided with his.

What a fabulous story! I loved it from beginning to end. Good pacing, sympathetic hero and heroine, enough steamy times to establish their connection and chemistry but not go overboard, moving principal character backstories, just the right amount of secondary players, and a lovely, worth-the-wait ending. One of the best romances I’ve read in recent months (and I read ALOT!).
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
There’s something about Madden Ransom that just keeps you reading.
I have always enjoyed Ms Renshaw’s books and this one is no exception.
The story was well thought out and executed with an entertaining storyline with plenty of interesting twists and turns plus a heart-melting happy ever after ending.
There is also lots of sex scenes and the language will not be to everyone’s taste
A great read.

A perfect story about two people who are definitely not what you would expect based on first impressions. Brighton and Madden meet when she comes into his Tattoo shop trying her wings at a first start of her independence. Shocker number one is that this is a tattoo artist without any ink on his body. Through heartfelt discussions that as well as other shocking truths unfold as this book propels us along to a shocking conclusion. We learn secrets that both of them have that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I don’t know how many times I yelled “no way” or “what else”. Do yourself a favor and get this book, you won’t be disappointed!

3.5 stars
Pricked is a sexy, sweet story about naive girl locked in her tower and her “bad boy”. Too bad nothing is as it seems and both are in for a surprise. Sexy and naive are catnip for this tomcat on the prowl. Alluring stranger with deep brooding eyes and a gorgeous body are enough to make the princess want to leave her castle…if she didn’t already have plans.
This was a great read, although some of the scenes were predictable, a lot of the book wasn’t! It pulled me in and kept me engaged, and there were a lot of twists I didn’t see coming, and I love that!! Madden and Brighton are perfect for each other! I wish I had a Madden in my life!
Every single time Winter has me eating out of the palm of her hand. I’ve read quite a few stories by her and every single one was a 5 * read for me. What a skillful writer.
Pricked is a brilliant story with plenty of interesting twists and turns. I was greatly impressed by this fantastic riveting story.
Wow……. I’m a bit speechless after this book.
I have to say once you start reading this book you will not be able to stop. And it will keep you guess till the very end.
Brighton and Madden come from completely different worlds. They both think because of that they would never work. But think a relationship that is strictly sex with no feelings will be fine.
Madden thinks he’s broken and that he will never know what love is but when Brighton leaves he realizes that life with her isn’t life at all,
But getting her back won’t be as simple as he thinks. I have to say a found a lot of this book unexpected. And you will be hooked till the very end.
It’s a book that you don’t want the story to actually end. You want to read more about there lives. You will fall in love with Brighton and madden and the HEA

This was a good book. For me, the chemistry between the two main characters never reached the boiling point I prefer, but it was an easy read nonetheless.
Brighton decides to rebel from her rich parents and goes into a tattoo parlor to get a tattoo. When Madden, who is the owner, asks her what she wants, she gives him carte blanche to tattoo something appropriate for her but it has to be hidden. So he tattoos a butterfly on her side. There is an attraction there but Madden doesn’t do relationships at all. Does not date either. But neither one can get off each other’s minds. When Brighton volunteers at the Boys and Girls club, she gets to be a “sister” to a little girl Dev. When Brighton goes to get her tattoo checked to make sure everything is okay, she tries chatting up Madden but he doesn’t open up as to why he owns a tattoo shop but doesn’t have any tattoos. Yet he is a phenomenal artist but comes from a broken home where his dad is in jail and his mom doesn’t care about him or his younger sister. These two come from completely different backgrounds. Brighton’s parents expect her to go to med school. She doesn’t want to do that. But can’t figure out a way to tell her parents. Brighton has helicopter parents who manage and attend to everything about her. Madden is a whole other mystery. But as things unfold and Madden and Brighton play at being fake boyfriend/girlfriend, the lines become faded. While Brighton is trying hard not to fall for Madden since she knows he doesn’t do relationships, at her parents July 4th party, she tells them she isn’t going to med school but that she got a job at a research clinic. Her parents then kick her out and take everything away from her. Destitute she goes to Madden’s but he isn’t home. With all the angst these two have in their lives, will they be able to work past their issues or will the final discovery break them in two? Loved this story and the mystery behind it. Great twist at the end. Absolutely recommend!

This book was ok. It was about a guy owning a tattoo shop trying to live right and trying to keep his younger sister on the straight path too. then we have the richer than rich girl that comes into his life, but she doesn’t want to live that way she’s rebelling. I liked the book but parts of it was just too unrealistic for me, but I still like Ms. Renshaw and her writing and the way she builds her characters and the steamy romance she has in her books.
I wasn’t sure at first whether I was going to fully connect with this story, it started out fairly slow, a first meet between our couple, then it drifted into describing the characters’ daily routines, scene setting really. But as I read on, I found that I was becoming increasingly invested in the lives of these characters and liking them very much. Soon, I couldn’t put it down.
I absolutely loved Brighton. She’s multi layered and a bit of a contradiction. A very strong willed, take no nonsense from anyone type of young woman, except when it comes to her over protective, overbearing parents. This controlling behaviour on their part is explained as the result of a tragedy some ten years ago, but they are infuriating and I wanted to slap them. However, even when Brighton gives in to their will, there’s a part of her that is fighting back and I was cheering her on. She’s caught between a rock and a hard place really, until an opportunity presents itself and she grabs it with both hands.
Madden is definitely up there with the best book boyfriends. Yes he’s brooding and a little rough around the edges but although he’s a straight talker, I didn’t feel he was deliberately mean for the sake of it. Carrying his own scars from his past, the only commitment he wants to make is to remaining single. That is, of course, until he meets the lovely Brighton. Don’t get me wrong, there’s no insta love here, although there’s plenty of chemistry and initial attraction. If he’s guilty of anything, it’s judging a book by its cover when it comes to Brighton. The feelings develop between them in a really sweet way and it’s clear from the way Madden acts around Brighton that he’s kidding himself when he says he doesn’t want more. Although they come from completely different backgrounds, these two are perfect for each other.
Now, in the midst of their burgeoning love story, there’s some clever twists and turns, deceit and lies revealed, and some secrets are brought to light. One secret I did guess, but the outcome was a complete shock and not what I was expecting at all. All in all I really enjoyed this book. There were parts I would’ve liked to have seen expanded on a little more, including the ending, which I felt after all the drama was slightly rushed. Nevertheless, an engaging storyline, appealing lead characters, together with humorous moments and a sweet happy ending, made Pricked a delightful read.
One act of rebellion led Brighton, pampered princess, to the man to whom she’d bring to his knees. The man who would change her life irrevocably. When Brighton walks into Madden’s tattoo shop and asks him to tattoo whatever he wants on her, it makes an impact on both of them. But they are tied to each other in a way neither could ever have guessed, and when that connection is brought to light, will it spell the end to whatever it is they’ve got going between them?
I loved Pricked. It’s heartfelt and really quite beautiful. Madden and Brighton are a perfect case of opposites attracting, and it works for them. He’s rough around the edges, moody and broody, and has a pretty hard life. She’s the spoiled princess of not such wonderful parents. But she’s like a bright light in Madden’s grey world. I love how well they fit together, how they complemented each other, and how they really rose above what could have torn them apart. I almost always like Winter Renshaw’s writing, but I do not always fall in love with her heroes and heroines. However, here in Pricked I can safely fell I loved both Brighton and Madden, different from each other though they are. Pricked is some of this author’s best work to date. I so cannot wait for what she has for us next.
Rating 4.5
Winter Renshaw does it again and this time maybe the best yet. Ms Renshaw takes a classic rich girl poor boy and turns it on its head and then she throws in so many twists that my head was spinning. Madden and Brighton are well-conceived characters that to me after reading Ms Renshaw’s books are unlike anyone she has written before. The story is heavy at times and its interesting to me as these two people try to navigate through their situations and come out the other side better people and together. They are both young so dont get me wrong there were times I wanted to yell at them but at the end when they finally the payoff was perfect.
Overall if you have never read Winter Renshaw before then this is a great place to start and if you are a fan then I promise you wont be disappointed.
This is my favorite Winter Renshaw book to date and I’ve loved many of her other books. The chemistry between Madden and Brighton was insane! The story is haunting, romantic and well written. A highly recommended read.
I absolutely loved this book by Winter Renshaw. Madden and Brighton were meant to be together and had such chemistry. From the first day they met while Madden was inking Brighton there was something between them. I loved the twist and turns the characters went thru and the ending was outstanding. I absolutely could not put the book down and read it straight thru to the end. This is an absolute must read.

Two totally opposite people with baggage meet and find an HEA but that doesn’t begin to explain the characters who were deep and well rounded. Both came with baggage and expectations. This was an emotional, deep and touching read. I didn’t particularly care for the blurb and thought it shortchanged this amazing story. You’ll fall in love with them as you get to know them and understand their backstory. It is a wonderful read that will leave you sighing for more. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
Brighton and Madden couldn’t be more different is they tried. He’s emotionally unavailable, she’s restricted by her circumstances. I was kept hanging, trying to figure out Madden’s background for so long! I loved their long path to find each other, but I felt like things with her dad were not resolved, and I would’ve liked to see if there was more to that part of the story. A good emotional romance.
Madden and Brighton are two complete opposites who have great chemistry together. I like that the author didn’t give us an instant love story but instead their relationship grew slowly over time. This is a beautiful, well written story with believable characters and some twists and turns that pulled me in and left me wanting more.
I throughly enjoyed this book. I would have to say it was one of my favorites from this author. I loved that Brighton didn’t take any of Madden’s attitude. Totally fangirling over her.
