All I wanted was a tattoo. What I got was a broody, enigmatic demigod with an electrifying touch and a mysterious past. We were night and day in every way possible, not an ounce of anything in common, and yet, I wanted him in the worst way. It didn’t matter that he was emotionally unavailable or that he was exactly the kind of man who would give my father a coronary should I dare to bring him … should I dare to bring him home. It didn’t matter that his heart was wrapped in barbed wire or that he made me promise never to fall for him.
None of it mattered because he was the most perfectly imperfect, beautifully tortured soul I’d ever known, and I was besotted, addicted to all the thrilling and wondrous ways he made me feel when we were together.
They say a single moment can change the entire trajectory of your life. But looking back, I never could have imagined all the ways my world would change the moment it collided with his.

This is such a beautifully written book. I love Winter’s writing and this book was amazing. I came back from lunch late because this book consumed me and I could not put it down.
“You’re something, Madden. You know that? You’re really something. ”
Madden is the kind of guy with an attitude of “what you see is what you get.” He doesn’t do things to please anyone.
“You’re the beautiful butterfly. I caught you in my net. I’ve taken you home. And I can’t promise you’re going to be the same if you spend the night with me.”
Brighton is a rich, privileged pre-med graduate who has been sheltered all her life. She wants to experience life and an act of “rebellion” leads her to meet the man that will turn her life around and for the first time, she felt the kind of freedom she only dreamed of.
“I told you that if this started to feel real, I’d walk away. ”
Can they really walk away from each other? Pricked is a story of two people from different backgrounds and upbringing. Will their relationship stand the test of time and circumstances?
An eloquent writer that she is, Ms. Renshaw once again floored me with this book. It was flawlessly written. The main characters are well thought of and vividly developed. The twist that I didn’t see coming, it was very well executed! It just wowed me when I reach that part of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this one from beginning to end. The story of Madden and Brighton just blew me away. By far, this is my favorite book by this author. I highly recommend this book! I loved it so much!
The intro to this book doesn’t do it justice, but I think it would be hard to capture the essence of this amazing story. Yes, it’s about two people who never should have met and seem to be complete opposites. It’s about love; the love you give, the love that hurts, the love that scares you and the love that heals. It’s an emotional story, without going overboard. It’s written so elegantly and the story is told with an unassuming tendernes that is difficult to do and so beautiful when done right. There’s all the ingrediences to be a dramatic story, and still this is a butterfly story. It flows with every high and low and everything in between. I couldn’t put it down. It left me breathless.
What a amazing read that will have you on a roller coaster ride that will have you hooked from the very first words.
Pricked had my twisted little inquisitiveness enthralled from the beginning. I was mesmirised by the way the words unfolded. Winter Renshaw produces something different every time. It further cements my intense love of reading. Pricked is the ultimate in romance. Creativity and thought, passion and pain, it was all addressed in this story. Madden’s heart was untouchable and he liked it just like that. Enter his very own Sleeping Beauty and you have an exceptionally addictive story that will grasp you and not let go. It is a one sitting story, and one I am certain will be adored by many.
Pricked will astound you, arouse you, break you, assemble you, enslave you, empower you. A true outstanding romance that will leave you craving more. This author’s words are addictive and you will hang off every word, never wanting themride to end. 5 stars
Winter Renshaw did it again! I love this opposites attract story. Madden and Brighton are both great characters. Madden is a tattoo artist, and a complex character, bad boy, and handsome. Brighton is so kind, hopeful, strong, and a beautiful woman. I love their story, their chemistry, and their happy ending. The storyline is well written, filled with, lies, misunderstandings, and unpredictable twists and turns. Madden’s sister is also a great character. The narration is perfect! This is the second time I heard Victoria Mei and Wally Schrass together, and for the second time they did an amazing job with the narration. I love their voices! In fact, if you haven’t listened to P.S. I Hate You, you should! I totally recommend both audiobooks. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
An advanced copy of this book was provided for me to review.
I have read many a Winter Renshaw book and there hasn’t been one that I haven’t enjoyed completely. Now here is another one to add to that long list, you should add it to yours.
Our sweet, young, beautiful Brighton lives in a parental protected bubble also known as their ostentatious gated home in upper class suburbia. She is intelligent, just graduated from college and is on her way to med school in the fall, just as her father and brothers have already done before her. No one cares that she doesn’t want to be like them, it’s expected, planned out for her as her entire life has been, right down to the clothes her mother chooses for her to wear. A family tragedy has has made her parents into gate keepers with a mission to protect her from everything and they take their job seriously.
So, summer is here and Brighton is going to step out of her prison and tuck a few new experiences under her belt until she can figure out a way to step out of her parents controlling arms and into a life she wants. Step one: a tattoo, in a hidden place only she will know, well, and the artist who puts it there.
Life is about to change and fate is taking its course as Brighton mets Madden, that tatoo artist. He doesn’t know it, but his life will never be the same either!
An unlikely pair, from opposite sides of the proverbial track, one light, one dark, one that needs to be let out of her cage while the other is in one of his own making. Both need to let go and move on. Can they find something in common?
Oh my, there’s a well told tale here, a hot, steamy one and the crazy twists, suspenseful turns this book takes will definitely surprise you many times over. There is a beautiful theme that runs through the story, see if you can figure it out. Here’s a clue, the tattoo.
Neither Brighton or Madden are anything that you might think when you start reading this story, they are so much more and it was fun finding out the all the delicious details.
This is another must read winner from Winter Renshaw and I LOVED it.
Recommend!
This was my first Winter Renshaw read so I had no idea what to expect, so I wad pleasantly surprised when I enjoyed it immensely. Well written, with interesting and lovable characters that are slightly broken in their own ways. Inexplicably drawn to each other despite their outward differences, they fight against what inevitably will be the outcome of their passion. They may start off with rules in place to govern the lines neither of them want to cross. But life always has a way of taking that passion and turning it into feelings that can’t be ignored. Unfortunately, some demons can’t be forgotten and they must trust each other or they never even stood a chance. A great five star read that I basically finished in one sitting. Loved it.
Oh My Goodness what a great book!!! This book pulled me through several emotions and I got so wrapped up in these characters.
Brighton is a sweet, protected, young woman that just finished college and is headed to medical school in the fall. Her life is controlled by her parents and they feel for very good reason. Brighton is looking for a means to escape her iron prison and her first rebellious move is to go get a tattoo. She wound up at Madd Inkk and laying on a table with a gorgeous man putting ink on her body that she has no idea what it is.
Madden is quiet, moody, and has no interest in this privileged, pampered, women laying on his table. He has chosen a tattoo that means something to him but he won’t tell her what it means and the likelihood he ever sees this woman again is slim to none or so he thinks. Fate has a way of making things happen and sometimes our lives are more entwined than we could have ever imagined they were.
This book will pull you in from the very beginning so prepare to hold on for a fantastic ride. I loved this story and had to force myself to put the Kindle down and not read straight through. I felt so many emotions reading this and even shed a few tears but this author will get you to the HEA in the end so don’t worry.
I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I highly recommend it and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
“Rock. Paper. Scissors. I was always the rock. She was always the paper … covering my dark with her light. My hard with her soft.”
This is the soul-searing Winter Renshaw love story you’ve been waiting for … passionate, yearning, poignant, vulnerable, complicated, seemingly impossible love between a rich girl and poor boy. The beginning of this fresh romance was the kind of captivating that makes me anxious to know what comes next, while forcing myself not to skim ahead. It’s packed with twists and turns that you will and won’t see coming. A beautiful, engaging story, and a memorable couple. I LOVED EVERY WORD. **4.25 stars**

What a flippin’ emotional roller coaster. Madden and Brighton took my emotions on quite a journey. To me, this book was kind of suspenseful in a way .Winter Renshaw’s Pricked is one, that will leave you teetering on the edge, until the very last page. This author did a good job of making the unexpected happen, because honestly I had no clue what was going to happen next, and when my mind did conjure up ideas, it was wrong. So wrong. Basically in a nut shell, this author has a phenomenal writing style, that let’s the characters do the talking, and boy did they talk. She allowed this story to flow at the pace, that was required without too little or too much information. Madden and Brighton, are two completely different characters that had to work for what they wanted, and it was nice to watch it play out, and their character comebacks are so strong.
Madden. Man he is one complex character. The sole owner of Madd Inkk has major commitment issues, wether it be with girls, cars, or anything that requires a commitment. He is not one for small talk, he would rather sit there all surely. He doesn’t have time for feelings, and lying is his biggest pet peeve.
Brighton is all smiles given here circumstances in life. She is prim and propper, and has practically lived a life wrapped in bubble wrap. She yearns to to feel anything but safe. She has a kind heart, that enjoys helping others, not for the attention, but for her heart. Brighton doesn’t like to hurt anyone’s feelings.
When Brighton decides to do something rebellious, she gets the chance to meet the one and only Madden. When fate keeps throwing them together, can commitment fobe Madden let his guard down to capture the heart of a one of a kind woman??
*I recommend this book.

This is a good, emotional read. This story is full of characters with scars from their past. Madden and Brighton meet and, despite being complete opposites are drawn to each other. They continue on their way only fate keeps bringing them back together.
Pricked by Winter Renshaw a five-star read you would want to adore. Madden Ransom just makes me so desperate to go run to my local tattoo shop and get some more ink, he is an enigma wrapped in a day dream. This was such a compelling read, you will be reading each page and going back and forth as you worry you will miss something. There is a compelling story and each time a new detail is revealed you will just get more drawn into the story. Brighton is a great character and she really has her own story to tell, much like sleeping beauty her story is interesting when sleeping, but more fun when she is awake.
I could not put down Pricked even if I wanted to. It is a page turner. I loved Madden and Brighton’s story. I recommend you to get it today. You will not be disappointed!
“Rock, Paper, Scissors. I was always the rock. She was always the paper. It took me years to realize it was never about winning, that all she was doing was covering my dark with her light. My hard with her soft.”
I had just discovered Winter Renshaw a couple years ago when I signed up for the “Country Nights” blog tour. I was hooked on her writing after that book, and I planned to go back and read every one of her backlist books. Things got away from me, so when I did the “P.S. I Miss You” tour I dropped everything and did it. I spent the greater part of the next 3 weeks binge reading every book – I loved every one of them.
“The way a heart breaks depends on the way it was dropped. Some breaks are clean. And some shatter, sending millions of shards everywhere, shards so small you can’t see them. But you always feel them. My God, do you feel them. ”
When Pricked hit my kindle, I was so ready. I’ve been in a bit of a reading funk the past few weeks. I knew when this one hit my kindle that the funk would be over. I spent my day reading this, and it was perfect. We had negative temps yesterday, so I got to do my favorite thing. I was curled up on the couch, wrapped in my favorite blanket, hot cup of coffee, and this fantastic book. That is my idea of a great day.
Madden was rough around the edges, but when he was with Brighton, you could tell he wanted so much more than he admitted to wanting. Brighton was so determined and sure of herself. She knew what she wanted, and she went after it no matter what – I loved that. These two together were so perfect for each other. He was rough and bitter, she was quiet but hopeful, and together they made each other better.
There is something so perfect and unique about her stories. Winter’s writing immediately draws me in, consumes my thoughts, and draws every emotion out of me with every turn of the page. Her stories are witty, heart-stopping, and phenomenal. I am forever grateful that the email I got for “Country Nights” caught my eye and I got to find her books. If you haven’t read her work yet, then I implore you to dive in and fall in love as I did.
“She was the only girl I’d ever known who could make a smile look sad – and it killed me to know I was the reason.”
I’m going to say I quite, quite, QUITE enjoyed this story. You start out getting to know sweet innocent and very sheltered Brighton, along with quiet moody closed off Madden. Two people who should never work, and yet they do. Following along with their story was fun, interesting and enlightening. There are some heartbreak moments (though I didn’t want there to be), some A-HA moments (that are cool when you get to them), and just some all around amazing moments. Again, I very much quite liked this story. You will too
