I am prey. This is not pity talking, this is an acknowledgment of a fact.I am small and weak; I am an omega. I am a prize that men war over. For a year I have hidden in the distant corner of the Empire. But I am running out of food, and I am running out of options. That I must leave soon is not a decision for today, though, but a decision for tomorrow.Only tomorrow’s choices never come. For tonight … tomorrow’s choices never come.
For tonight brings strangers who remind me that I am prey.
Publisher’s Note: Prey is an extra spicy fantasy romance with three stern protectors, a wolf-shifter, and their sweet but stubborn mate.

HOT!
If you’re looking for a good story with some seriously steamy – panty wetting – scenes this is for you.
Follow Belle as she falls under the spell of not one but four brothers.
SOOOOOO good.
4.5 STARS!
And that is because I’m holding half a star back due to what I think was a too anti-climatic end fight with our main bad guy – Oswald.
I am a huge fan of L.V. Lane – and her ‘Control, Controllers Collection One Series is one of my absolute favourites Omegaverse of all time.
This author always brings her A-Game, and her world-building and writing is a pleasure to read. Her books are easy to read, without feeling too simple. The content is always thrilling and I never feel like there is “too much info/description”. All in all – she does a fab job of giving us perfect pages filled with heartwarming, sexy, panty wetting content. She is truly one of my favs.
Now, I was lucky enough to get my ARC copy of Prey before release by being an ARC reader, but my review is completely my own personal views on the book. 🙂
Prey is set in the Omegaverse and is a ‘Reverse Harem’ book, though the ending teases us with more, and in good ole Lane style, she leaves us with easter eggs during the book, which opens up for more books to follow ( I hope!). This is a F/M/M/M/M book (yes, that many!) – and the Omega is the female. <3 Which is great, because that is my favourite - though my introduction to reading a book containing a Male Omega was also one of hers - which is called Absolute Control: An Alpha and Omega SciFi Romance (The Controllers Book 7) - check it out if you haven't!
Belle is a poor Omega with a strong will, a strong mind, and refuses to give up. She's also full of love and those she gives her heart to - will count themselves blessed by the Goddess herself.
Belle lives alone on her rickety farm and is trying to survive, but sadly that isn't going too well due to more bad luck than Friday 13.
Being part of the Imperial Guard, the brothers Silas, Dax & Nate are on a mission to track down the main bad guy in our story - Oswald. He's quite the character - the little we know of him, and his men are little more than savaged beasts battering the countryside, raping - pillaging and murdering innocent civilians. Safe to say - we are hoping our dear Alphas find him!
The world is set in sort of Medival time - that's the feeling I get. We have banquets, we have the horses, the farms, the land and that is the sort of feel I get. A medieval type of world. I really liked this - but then Lane has never been shortcoming when it comes to inventing her worlds, and this book does not share the very common trope of Dystopian world that was once riddled with some form of illness or virus to make the new Dynamics. Not that I don't like that - but it's always nice with a change. 🙂
This book does not have Alphaholes, there is discipline (spanking, belting) - but none of the main Alphas in this book are abusing Belle.
There is, however, a few trigger scenes, one is some torture - and this being Omegaverse, we do touch on dubious consent or what I like to call "you might be saying no, but I can change your mind" type.
So if you are not a big fan of these categories - this book might not be for you. 🙂
I mentioned at the beginning of this review - that I give it 4,5 stars and the half is missing because of the main big fight in the end. This is simply because I felt it was a bit rushed, I felt like we didn't really get to see or meet Oswald at all - we only heard about him from start to finish - we met his men, and there were some really super fighting scenes (Lane do these very well in all her books!) where I am def. being pulled into the story and feel as if I'm a part of it.
But... I felt that the end was too anti-climatic compared to all the buildup I felt it had. Harsh, but that's just how I feel.
Apart from that this book is jaw-dropping sexy and you might blush in this very sexy menage - our brother's def. put a nice spin on gang bang. 😉
All in all - this is a great addition to the Omegaverse world and I highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of the universe!
Deliciously indulgent, naughty, and unapologetic. This is a hot ride of a story, for sure. I love the unique aspect of adding a wolf shifter to the Omegaverse. He blends so smoothly into the ‘pack’ of Alphas that it feels completely natural (he’s actually my favorite boi, but don’t tell the others :X). These tough-as-nails Alphas always do what needs to be done, but once they meet Belle, they realize sometimes that involves making allowances and exceptions they might not have before, and it’s so, so sweet to watch that transformation. One thing they don’t skimp on? Sexy punishment time. Believe me, she encourages it by being a brat, and boy does she love it (so do I) when they deliver. It’s a lighter read than the Controller’s Series, but so totally different that there really isn’t a way to compare them. I love L.V. Lane’s Omegaverse, and this is just another fun adventure that you need to take with this author!
I read Omegaverse fiction because I delight in immersing myself in love relationships that are so all-encompassing. Alpha/Omega unions are intense. When they connect with one another, a private little world is born that nothing and no one else can enter. They truly make two into one. They are lifemates. And once they bond, each lifemate can feel the other’s emotions, thoughts, moods, their mate’s past. Nothing can break that link except death. As tragic as it sounds, if one mate dies, the other may never recover from the loss. Omegaverse stories are so full of emotions, and this is why, to me, they are satisfying in a way other romance genres often cannot attain.
L.V. Lane’s book Prey embodies all of these things in a very fulfilling, enjoyable way. This story is a Reverse Harem tale. In the world in which Prey takes place, Omegas are usually bonded to more than one Alpha male. Belle, the heroine, is found by three brothers, and all three of them bond with her. After safely securing her, they begin the journey to their home, where a 4th brother lives who will also likely bond with her. Each man relates to Belle, and she to him, in different ways. But each of their bonds are very satisfying to read. The characters in this tale are captivating, very well fleshed-out. The story is fairytale-like, although much more in-depth than any fairytale: a princess is rescued, brought to the castle, united with her prince(s), lives happily–for now. Oh yeah—and Belle really loves playing in their “marital” bed with her 4 men! There is plenty of love, both emotional and physical (re: physical, ‘plenty’ may be an understatement!). Spankings are also a feature in this book, which Belle’s men seem to delight in administering to her. Additionally, there are lots of details about their mundane, day-to-day lives that give a well-rounded backdrop to the tale. Likewise, a good helping of humorous events are described, and that always endears me to the author’s characters. The criminal thugs, army deserters, that attack the party provide suspenseful twists and angst.
However, we don’t know if the happily is “ever after,” because there seems to be a cliffhanger where the ending should be. The description said Prey was standalone, but it is written as though the action will continue in the next book (it is quite a mild cliffy, with lots of happiness to go around at the end that you don’t really notice it much). I intend to read the next book, so I’ll scope that out. I do want to read more about this family of Alphas and their Omega. Also, I need to know what happened to the 9 fat pigs. I implore the author to tell us! 4 Stars.
Perhaps the book has been updated, because I can’t say I noticed any typos or grammatical errors mentioned in other reviews. I did notice the author is British, as am I, so it might just be that she wrote using our grammar, wordage and spelling. All I can say is “Suck it up buttercup” because we have to mentally translate all those books written to suit the American market.
I found this to be a really fun, light read, very low on angst between the main protagonists but with a nice amount of peril thrown in to add enough interest. It was an “easy” read, one that doesn’t feel like an effort or need a lot of brain power but one that entertains nevertheless.
The male characters were clearly distinct from one another and had defined personalities, which many authors fail to achieve in stand alone RH stories. The story arc involving the Blighten needed just a bit more fleshing out and progressing a little further. There needed to be just a few more mentions and the slow drip feeding of more details so that by the end I was invested in that part of the story line.
The time spent building the male characters and developing each individual relationship with Belle did feel like it came somewhat at the expense of plot development. We seemed to spend a lot of time at Belle’s cottage, with the journey to her new home feeling rushed. Moving some of that character building so that it took place during the journey, would have made the book feel more balanced to me. That said, I did like how the Silas and his brothers gently led Belle into her first heat rather than just forcing her into anything and that did require a slower pace.
Belle really amused me, even if she was occasionally stroppy and frequently bratty, and almost just for the sake of it. There were times when I was cheering her on with this – especially when she was thwarting the brothers’ attempts at disciplining or controlling her. In fact I loved that wilful and belligerent streak, it was fun to see Silas, Nate, Dax and Bram realise that they might own her body, heart and soul but they would never truly control her.
Personally I would disagree with the view that there is no/little world building in the book. It isn’t the most complex and layered one, but there is a distinct feel to the society/world in which the books is set along with what life is like. It is omegaverse and as such there are innate rules and expectations, just as there are for an MC or mafia book. I wouldn’t expect any of those tropes to explain the rules/expectations in great detail to me.
I did find myself believing in the connection between Belle and her men. Did it feel rushed? At times yes, but a good deal of that is part of the alpha/omega bonding dynamic rather than poor writing. The bite and resulting bond opens up an emotional connection and that aspect was very nicely portrayed throughout the story. I would definitely read more work by this author.
Their “sweet, bratty little Omega hiding behind her Beta side”
—>>> Pampered and spoiled all her life, Priya’s family, lords, even the king are waiting with bated breath for the day she reveals herself as an Omega. The signs are there if one looks closely enough, but Priya has yet to believe she is anything but a defective Beta. Fortuitously charged with her well being, training, and discipline as the Captain of the Guard, Hawthorn is most definitely up to the task, along with his two trainees, Bram and Silas. Nothing is going to get between her and these three commanding Alphas if they have anything to say about it. An amazing story and installment in this author’s continuing omegaverse world.
Prey (Omega Prey #1)
by
L.V. Lane
I wrote this review based on an copy the author sent to me.
Prey is a fantasy reverse harem genre situated around Belle the Omega and her three Alpha males : Silas the main, Dax the huge, larger than life male and the youngest, a wolf-shifter Nate, eventually adding the twin brother of Silas into the mix and Belle definitely does not complain !
The three « brothers » are members of the Imperial Guard and originally on a quest to track down Oswald, an Imperium deserter and his gang of followers but happen by chance to fall upon the home of Belle living alone after the death of her Father who also happens to be an Omega and therefore following the rules she must be claimed and boy are they more than willing to do the claiming !
Belle is an appealing character to like, initially shy and retiring nature but quickly evolving into a woman that knows her own mind and is not afraid to speak it. She is involved in some extrememly hot and steamy encounters with each of the males and occasionally all at the same time, receiving punishment and discipline when she is considered to have disobeyed. As the story evolves we witness the relationship deepening between the group as they claim Belle and she claims each of the males in turn.
My thoughts on this book : This is actually the first time I have read this sort of genre and it has definitely been an discovery ! It is definitely for an adult audience and anyone put off by explanatory secual encounters such stay away…but I do have to say that even though these moments are graphic, they remain in context. In my opinion the moments of punishment to Belle are not in any form inappropriate, again they remain in context with the theme and she actually enjoys them each time.
But this story is not solely numerous erotic details, the storyline keeps you in anticipation of the next event and I surprised myself by looking forward to the next book to follow.
I give Prey (Omega Prey #1) 4 out of 5 stars.
The author has created a wonderful world with awesome characters who continue to develop throughout the book. There is plenty of drama and steam that kept this story moving along at a nice steady pace. If like me, you enjoy a great alpha/omega story then this is the book for you.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
What A Fun Read
From start to end I really did enjoy this fantasy / love story. Adventure, action, drama, and some really steamy scenes. On to the next! #HappyReading
This story has a little bit of everything in it…Omegaverse, reverse harem, shifter, different time period and more. I love all of the previous mentioned storylines, actually I read nearly every romantic genre there is. I’m not picky.
One of the main things I like in the books I read is a strong character. I think with Belle I found that a bit lagging and when she did try to be strong she was “disciplined”, nearly every time. Now I don’t mind a bit of spanking/discipline/dominance in the stories I read but sometimes it can overpower the storyline, which I felt that did in this book. But honestly I think that is the purpose of this book (and possibly the next book), to have more defiance that causes more discipline. So, for those readers that enjoy that in their stories, you will enjoy this book.
Can I mention a particular character that ended up being my favorite because he got so little page time? His name …Dax. I liked everything about him, brooding, silent, protective and ummm, other things. You’ll know what I mean when you read the book, lol. The time he did get I enjoyed immensely.
The schmexy times were as usual very hot & steamy and all the things you want to read in an Omegaverse/RH story.
The action scenes are so well written in this book. Each one I could easily follow and got completely taken in by what was happening. The ending though felt a bit anticlimactic. I wanted more from the whole storyline of the villains versus the good guys, which I’m guessing will continue on in the second book of this series. This book is not a cliffhanger but I felt the ending set up the next book more than anything.
The cover…wow…it is beautiful! That cover alone raises my star rating from 3 to 4.
This one hits all the right spots! Omegaverse has become my favorite trope over the last year, and I love that each author has their own take on it. I think one of thing things that sets this one apart from others is the detailed world building. It was magical. The characters are also well developed and complex, and each Alpha had a very distinct personality. It made the way they interacted with Belle more interesting and believable. I would read Ms. Lane’s books even if they were “clean romances” because of her beautiful writing style and way with words, and I really don’t like clean so that’s saying a lot. Luckily for me, and you, her books aren’t clean and she knows how to write the perfect steamy scene. This one has all the adventure, romance, and sexiness to keep you glued to the pages from beginning to end.
Belle is young woman, living alone in a small cottage deep in the woods far from anyone. Belle was hidden by her father when she revealed years ago that she was Omega and after the death of her father she is facing starvation and hardship. Silas, Dax and Nate are young men, brothers who are soldiers of the Imperium Guard, hunting a criminal when they come across Belle’s cottage seeking shelter during a storm. She is now there prey, hunted, caught and soon to be claimed and mated by the alphas. Their oldest brother Bram challenges his younger brother on who gets the right to be Belle’s mate. I really loved this book and couldn’t put it down.
This book is about Belle and how she meets her alphas. Three accidentally stumble upon her and they do have a fourth brother but they don’t tell Belle. They are good for her but can she deal with all the changes? And then people are hunting her.
I absolutely loved this story… L.V. Lane sucked me into this story from the very beginning. It was exciting and thrilling turning each and every page to find out what was going to happen next. I loved how sweet and defiant Belle can be. She is so sweet with all her gruff alphas, but she can also stand up for herself if she feels the need to and does not hesitate to do so and make her wishes known. I loved Silas, Bram, Nate, and Dax all so protective of her and willing to put their lives on the line to do so.
I loved that it appears that our Belle in this story might have a touch of precognitive ability in this story. And it ends with just enough mystery to have me wondering if we will get future stories in this world. I hope we do I would love to visit it again and learn more about it. There are so many other characters in this story that I want to know about. There was amazing story telling and world building in this book. It will be a book I read again and again I am sure.
I absolutely loved this story. Couldn’t put it down. A fresh take in the omegaverse by adding the RH twist but this was so much more than that. Fantastic world building, witty dialogue and plenty of action. Throw in chemistry that might just melt your kindle and I was one happy reader! I hope we get a book for Priya very soon.
Left on her own after the death of her father, Belle is struggling to survive in the Empire’s backwoods wilderness. Every day is harder than the last and, with winter’s approach, bleaker by the hour. Belle will be lucky to overcome her immediate problems, but her Omega dynamic makes it downright untenable. Omegas are hunted down, forced into submission, and bred by the strongest Alphas the Empire has to offer. And when four such Alphas enter her life, Belle must come to grips with her new reality. Each one is consumed with dominating their little omega, marking her, breeding her, and, ultimately, being claimed by her. Their journey is so delicious that I had to read it several times before I could put the book to rest! I am so in love with the world that L.V. Lane created, and I am eagerly awaiting Book #2!
Dark and intensely thrilling story!
I loved everything about this story. It’s gritty, dark, twisted and filled with some very intense and sexy moments. Belle’s story kept me on the edge of my seat completely enthralled and left breathless.
Belle is a fierce woman who had to survive on her own for a while. But when three very sexy, demanding and overbearing alphas show up her world gets turned upside down. Silas, Dex and Nate are drawn to Belle and want her in every way. They forge an interesting relationship that is filled with passion and love. Their interactions are sexy, explosive and emotional.
This story is unique and different from other omega verse stories, which I loved. It was captivating and highly entertaining to read. So full of emotions, drama, suspense but leaving us readers with some unanswered questions begging for more of this world.
I look forward to reading more of this series. Highly recommend.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. This is the first story I have read by LV Lane. It was a little different storyline for an omegaverse. All the brothers and the dynamic was not what I have read previously. Belle has not had an easy life. She was raised by her father alone away from everyone once it became apparent she was an omega. Each of the characters were well written. The twist with Silas and Bram was so well done. Nate was totally unexpected while Dax was the quiet emotional brother. They are all alphas who are immediately drawn to and protective of Belle. She has a different relationship with each brother. They each claim her and she claims them in the end. I really enjoyed the story. It was a book full of emotions, drama, suspense with a hea. I look forward to reading more of these stories.

If your looking for a not too dark Omegaverse read then I highly recommend this one. I loved the omega in this one and the Alpha’s were so great! This one was so SUPER steamy! And I loved how protective and possessive the Omega even was over her mates! And I really liked how the Alpha’s wanted her to claim them back! Trust me you want to read this one!
Belle is alone far from civilization because she is Omega. Her father, now dead, moved them out there. She is barely making it. Silas, Nate and Dax are hunting some renegades when they come upon a farm that is in disrepair. They find Belle and are to claim her for she is Omega and they are Alpha. There are many peril on their journey. And there is another brother, Bram. Can they all find happiness together? Read on. Nice ending.
