From USA Today and Washington Post bestselling author L.J. Shen comes an intense, high school enemies-to-lovers romance with a twist.
Penn
They say revenge is a dish best served cold.
I’d had four years to stew on what Daria Followhill did to me, and now my heart was completely iced.
I took her first kiss.
She took the only thing I loved.
I was poor.
She was rich.
The good thing about circumstances? They can change. Fast.
Now, I’m her parents’ latest shiny project.
Her housemate. Her tormentor. The captain of the rival football team she hates so much.
Yeah, baby girl, say it—I’m your foster brother.
There’s a price to pay for ruining the only good thing in my life, and she’s about to shell out some serious tears.
Daria Followhill thinks she is THE queen. I’m about to prove to her that she’s nothing but a spoiled princess.
Daria
Everyone loves a good old unapologetic punk.
But being a bitch? Oh, you get slammed for every snarky comment, cynical eye roll, and foot you put in your adversaries’ way.
The thing about stiletto heels is that they make a hell of a dent when you walk all over the people who try to hurt you.
In Penn Scully’s case, I pierced his heart until he bled out, then left it in a trash can on a bright summer day.
Four years ago, he asked me to save all my firsts for him.
Now he lives across the hall, and I want nothing more than to be his last everything.
His parting words when he gave me his heart were that nothing in this world is free.
Now? Now he is making me pay.

This story was hands down one of my most anticipated 2019 reads and my goodness once again the phenomenally talented L.J. Shen delivers everything I wanted and so much more with her newest release, Pretty Reckless.
I freaking love Penn and Daria and my heart is still buried deep in the pit of my stomach after inhaling their angsty as f*ck story. These two legit left me completely speechless and totally managed to turn my book world upside down. I never could have imagined how intense their romance was going to be, but I guess I should know by now to NEVER underestimate characters created by the QUEEN of angst!
L.J. Shen takes us right back to Todos Santos and introduces us to the Totholes aka the next generation of the Hotholes. If you thought those boys were bad, then you definitely aren’t ready for their kids. I absolutely loved Melody and Jamie’s story (Defy) so I was so excited when the author announced their daughter Daria was getting the first book in this spin-off series. She was definitely the perfect one to start off the series. She and her leading man, Penn, were addictively captivating. Daria is the antihero to some, but in my eyes she is a slightly flawed leading lady who just needed the right man to love her!
If you haven’t one-clicked this story yet please do so now because you are missing out on one of the BEST reads of 2019! The the Totholes totally one-upped the Hotholes and I cannot wait to see what the next book in the series has to hold!!! Bring on Vaughn’s story, Angry God!
I received an Advance Reader Copy of the book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
So I didn’t like Daria… At first. But then, I feel like I was set up to be predisposed to dislike her when she was introduced as a child in Bane (I think it was Bane but it may have been Scandalous), so I was also prepared to be persuaded that she was likable. As the mother to 3 daughters, this read for me was sort of harrowing – though I have to also admit that Melody was my least favorite Hothole companion, so no love lost there. Pretty Reckless took me on a butterfly inducing, twisty turny, roller coaster ride that I did not want to end. The way that LJ Shen perpetuated suspense and intrigue from the first word to the last is masterful. There were legit moments when I almost choked on air because of the intense inhalation I was forced to take because of the sheer shock of some of the deeds and misdeeds portrayed within these pages. The spawn of the Sinners of Saints are going to take us on quite the journey – and I am so here for it. I don’t know yet if they will occupy as much space in my literary psyche as their parents, but I do know that they will give them a run for their money. Loved all the cameos from from the ‘rents and I can’t wait for Vaughn, Knight, and (hopefully?) Luna to get their stories. My favorite part of the book though… Penn. Penn is like Hothole redemption in a character, if that makes any sense to anyone other than me. I want to say more, but I don’t want to say too much. I literally did not read the blurb/synopsis whathaveyou – and truly this is one of those books where that is the best prep for going in. Blissfully unaware and naive to the reality of existence after Daria, Penn, … and co (I literally just typed out SEVERAL character’s names, but then hit delete a bunch because #nospoilers ) . So yeah… 5 wine glasses…
Just when you thought LJ Shen couldn’t get any better, she goes and smacks you in the face with an absolutely phenomenal work of art like Pretty Reckless. I don’t even know where to start with my love for this all consuming book. The world that is built and expanded on from the Hotholes series is so much more layered and meaningful when we get to the Totholes. My anticipation for this book was off the charts and I tried to guard my heart thinking that it couldn’t measure up to my love for Shen’s previous books. I was so wrong it is almost embarrassing. On the surface, this book is a story about high school kids and it should be shallow and self absorbed as teenagers are, right? This book is so much more. The emotion it pulled out of me is still making my head and heart spin. The characters were all so multi layered, the secrets too many to count. I went in to Pretty Reckless thinking I would not like Daria and she is one of my forever favorite heroines. Her secrets and pain felt like my own as I read further and further in to her story. Her growth and newfound strength made me fall a little in love with her. And Penn, he saw Daria for herself from the beginning and forced her to see herself. His tough love and yet still tender treatment of her stole my heart. The villains of this story were very masterfully crafted. I hated them with everything I had and found myself wanting to throw my kindle and taking breaks to deal with my emotions. I am so happy that the Hotholes were featured as much as they were in this book. I am still so in love with them and this story further cemented that love in my heart. The storyline was so much deeper than the average angsty teenage story. It pulled on my heart until I felt like I was bleeding out with every word I read. If you haven’t read this book yet, do it. Right now.
L.J. Shen has once again delivered a powerful and emotional story that has left me obsessed and begging for more!! Her All Saints High series opens with a bang in Pretty Reckless where we see Queen B, Daria Followhill meet her match in Penn Scully, her opposite in every way. But this Queen did not expect her gamechanger to ultimately become the landmine at her feet systematically blowing up her entire world.
Gah!! This story was just outstanding. Penn and Daria have a shared past and secret from years earlier. In an act of kindness, Penn irrevocably changes Daria showing her that there is still goodness in people. She repays him in an act of betrayal and selfishness that has lasting effects into the present. Now that misfit boy is back and has grown into a vengeful man who is out for the prissy princess’ blood.
OMG!!!! I loved this story so much. Shen gloriously paints a picture of Daria as the young woman who has the world at her shiny, polished fingertips but hides her broken, bleeding and dark parts under a facade. But Penn sees past her cutting barbs and superficial and perfect exterior to the wounded and defensive woman beneath. I loved how we are given a picture of two people who are so different but who see each other for what they really are inside, flaws and all.
My obsession with this story knows no bounds!! It is everything: the delicious cover, the fiery sexual tension and the spirited enemies to lovers banter – this is where Shen shines! Pretty Reckless is nothing short of phenomenal with the kind of fantastic writing this author is known for. It is an exciting rollercoaster ride from the beginning culminating in a deeply emotional and explosive ending. Every word is a shining example of Shen’s profound writing ability. After every new creative masterpiece she delivers, it really feels like L.J. Shen was born to write. I am left more and more in awe of her God-given talent and fall deeply in love with her characters each time!! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula
You’re tearing confessions from my mouth
Reactions from my flesh
Fights from my fists
Blood from my heart
Sometimes I want to break the wall I built between us
Let you in And watch you destroy me

I have so many amazing things to say about Pretty Reckless. Honestly I went in blind with this one. I know I love EVERYTHING LJ writes so I had no fear at all that I wouldn’t love PR and she did not disappoint.
Daria Followhill, Dar, Skull Eyes, Queen B of All Saints High…. broken little rich girl. On the outside she has everything, while inwardly she struggles daily with her inner Hulk, her in different mother at times and so much more. At age 14 she meets the boy she promises all her firsts to and then her world seems to change in one single afternoon.
Penn Scully, beautiful boy from the wrong side of tracks, twin, fighter, football hero, tin man with no heart. At 14 he meets the girl he wants all her firsts ….takes her first kiss and wants so much more. When one single afternoon makes his world implode.
Fast forward 4 years and Skull Eyes and tin man meet again. They find they love to hate each other. Their push and pull angst comes full circle when the Scully Twins become foster kids of the Followhills. Can she fill that hole in his shirt where his heart is, can he tame the hulk inside her? The emotions chemistry these to share are off the charts.
Pretty Reckless is a roller coaster ride of emotions. LJ does an amazing job pulling every ounce of personality from each character she writes and at the end you know Penn and Daria inside and out along with their families and friends I can’t wait for the follow up Broken Knight. These are amazing follow ups to the Saints of Sinners series. Amazing LJ… simply Amazing!
Loving you is like Listening to a song For the first time And somehow knowing all the lyrics—— Penn

Q: Once upon a time, we may have had a chance to get our happily ever after, but in this fairy tale turned nightmare, we both did too many awful things for the prince to claim his princess.
O.M.G!!!! Pretty Reckless, the first book in the All Saints High series, by USA Today and Washington Post bestselling author L.J. Shen, was simply phenomenal. Pretty Reckless has been at the top of my most anticipated read list for months, and I have to say, Leigh really outdid herself with this one. It’s no secret that I am obsessed with reading this author’s stories, and that with each book she releases, I find a way to drop everything to read them and Pretty Reckless was no different.
Q: Ever notice how the heart is literally caged by the ribs? That’s insane. As if our body knows it can break so easily, it needs to be protected.
Pretty Reckless is thoroughly entertaining. I was swept away with this book from the first sentence and read it straight through—as if there was any other option. The story is captivating and the pace is perfect, it didn’t drag or get too slow for me. It’s a dual POV, enemies-to-lovers, YA romance that takes readers back to the series that put Leigh on the map (for many of us), the Sinners of Saint books. The All Saints High books are a spinoff of the Sinners of Saint series, and readers will love catching up with their favorite Hotholes since the spinoff revolves around the totholes, or high school aged children of the characters from the original series. In fictional Todos Santos, California where affluent residents are the norm and the hotholes rule over all, Daria Followhill is their Queen. While reading Pretty Reckless, I was legitimately on pins and needles. The story was original and well planned out. I already want to sit down and reread it… and not just because I consumed this book at warp speed. I am a huge angst fan, and Pretty Reckless was an extremely well written combination of high school drama, first world problems, and young love angsty book.
Q: When someone hits me with a stick, I run over them with a tank.
The characters of Pretty Reckless cast a huge spell on me. Daria Followhill is rich, entitled and rules over All Saints High. She has everything money can buy her, and she’s absolutely miserable. As the head cheerleader at ASH, she has an image to uphold, and a reputation for being a straight up ruthless bitch… which she maintains with relish! But she longs for things that might surprise you. Daria’s not your typical rich kid. Her insecurities are eating away at her and she’s a complex heroine who is far deeper than I originally gave her credit for being. She’s the girl we all wanted to immolate in high school, yet she is also beautifully broken. Leigh did an outstanding job of entwining the negative attributes of Daria’s character with positive ones.
Q: I’m the tin man. I have no heart. Not since Via left. She was my entire world… My heart was rusty before she left, but after? After, it was gone.
If you follow my reviews, you know I have a thing for Assholes… and Leigh writes the best of them! Penn Scully is the boy who took Daria’s first kiss, and now he’s her worst enemy. He’s Daria’s polar opposite, captain of the rival football team and her new foster brother. He’s the tin man, a class A asshole and one of my favorite heroes Leigh’s written to date. His soft center, fierce loyalty, and protectiveness had me on my knees (wait… that might have just been a fantasy ).
Q: He was the first boy who noticed the injured animal behind the camouflage of hostility and tried to give it water and shelter.
Together Daria and Penn were straight up dynamite. Their chemistry is so innate that each interaction between them was straight up foreplay… the way Enemies-to-Lovers romances are supposed to be written!! It’s no secret that Leigh writes seXXXy AF romances, and I often joke that when reading her books, you’ll want to go in prepared—have your batteries charged or your spouses on standby because a cold shower is not going to put out the fires she lights. Pretty Reckless is just another example of her skill with layering the sexy and storytelling. She continues to deliver some of the sexiest reads in contemporary romance and my dirty mind absolutely LOVES every minute of them.
Q: “You smell like my new, steady ride.”
While there is certainly more I could say to justify giving Pretty Reckless a five-star review, I will quit here. There is a reason L.J. Shen is a bestselling author and if you’ve somehow been unable to read her work to date, then I can promise you that you have no idea just how much you’re missing out. I have yet to read something that she’s written that I was less than crazy for and they are all five-star reads! Pretty Reckless should absolutely be the next book you pick up to read!!!!
Quotes:
I have a lot of experience when it comes to fakeness. My personality is basically one hundred percent recyclable plastic. The only person who can still scrape a bit of authenticity from me is her brother.
—
She opens her eyes and stares at me. It’s cool to see her like that. Vulnerable. Scared. She’s not the head cheerleader right now, and I’m not the football captain of the rival team. We’re just two teenagers who never stood a chance to be friends in this world, so we became what was expected of us. Enemies.
—
While I’m his hobby, he is turning out to be my… everything.
If bully romances are your thing, then this is definitely the book for you! Daria and Penn are the perfect star cross lovers. The have immediate chemistry. This story will make you feel every emotion possible. I don’t think I’ve ever met and author like L.J. Shen who makes me literally feel everything her characters are feeling. You’re heart with crush and tears will fall, but it’s all rewarded in the end. If you haven’t read the Sinners Of Saints Series, go read that first! I loved to see old characters in new books! This is a steamy bully romances you will not be able to put down. Literally read it in less then 24 hours! L.J. Shen is a goddess!
Pretty Reckless by L.J. Shen was everything I love from this author and takes us back to her Sinners of Saints series, as this is a spin-off of the children from the couples in that series. This can be read as a standalone, however, the Sinners of Saint series is an amazing read as well and one I highly recommend reading! It is how I met this author and have read everything she has written since!
Daria is the princess of this story. She is the daughter of Jamie and Mel and lives much as the men his father was friends with, rich and entitled. She is the mean girl to top off all other mean girls. But there is much more to Daria then meets the eye. Penn Scully is from a rival school and comes from a different world than Daria. After knocking him down a peg or two, he is now living across the hall from her and her new tormentor!
L.J. Shen is all about the angst and she gives it to us in spades in Pretty Reckless. I loved the enemies-too-lovers romance of this story. Rivals and enemies, Penn and Daria had some steamy and hot chemistry between them. Penn now hates Daria, but we all know about the thin line between love and hate! I devoured this story and cannot wait for the rest of the series
4.5-stars. Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
Rate: 8/ 5 stars
Lord have mercy. L. J. Shen KNOWS how to write an emotional read like no other. Daria and Penn completely shattered my heart into million pieces right from the freaking prologue. What the hell was this… I don’t think a character had me crying as much as Daria did through out the whole book, this girl… oh how I understood her and could relate to some of what she was feeling. I fell for her HARD. I love a broken hero story but I haven’t read a broken heroine book like this one EVER and I just felt so much for Daria, my heart beats were on hold until the last page.
This book made me feel everything, all the emotions, all the words and all the actions. It pulled me in from the very first sentence and I could not stop reading until things were okay for this sweet broken girl. Daria is so missunderstood and she hides behind a b*tch mask to hide her real feelings but her heart, her heart is so big and she feels so much. My poor sweet girl hiding her love behind cruel words and cool clothes.
Penn, I did love him but not as much as Daria which for me is a first. Penn blames Daria for ruining his life because it’s easier to hate her then love her. It’s been years since the moment they shared when they were kids that ended imploding their lives as they knew it but now everything imploded again and they are forced to live under the same roof… and now, now it’s much harder to hate her… knowing who she really is, seeing her struggle with her family, her friends, with herself. Their attraction is off the charts and pulls them closer every day, their hateful exchanges turn into meanful conversations, their kisses turn into more and soon it’s impossible to deny that what they always fought happened.
But it’s much more complicated than that…there are way too many variables at play for them to simply fall into a relationship. Daria’s relationship with her mom, all the secrets she’s hidden, ASH Principal, Penn’s sister, the rival football teams and their fights, everyone plays a part in the mess that is Daria and Penn’s story and everyone makes it a little harder to solve their problems.
Daria and Mel’s relationship broke my heart. I kind of hated Mel a little and was a little put off by Jamie not doing anything so I’m super glad that Shen wrote that Mel chapter because it made me see the other side of the equation and I needed that. And Jamie.. my baby, he loved his little girl so much. <3
I loved getting to know Knight, Vaugh and Luna and I cannot wait for their books. This series will be the best thing ever. It's written in the stars. Each of these kids is special just like their parents were, maybe even more so. I'm so ready for all the angst, all the drama the next books will have. I'm so damn curious about Vaugh and cannot wait to read Knight's book, will or will he not win Luna over? ahhhh!
ASH is going to be an epic series and Pretty Reckless started it off so right. Shen gave us all the angst, all the heart, all the feels, the drama, the fights and the most amazing moments. These kids, wow... I love a good YA with loads of high school drama but this school, this book was so much more than what you can expect, SO MUCH MORE. I was living for it but at the same time I was almost dead. The emotions this lady brought out of me, the stress of not knowing what was gonna happen, the suspense, the fear for these two characters, the freaking angst, ahh! My heart could barely take it. I'm here I'm alive but I honestly don't know how. I'm ready for more though!
Thank you L. J. Shen for the most amazing birthday gift I could ask for. I loved getting lost in these characters and being wrecked by their story. Emotional reads are my favorite and you obliterated this one. This book and these characters are so damn special. With every new book you write, I'm more amazed with your talent and your brain. This one is for sure a new favorite. Pretty Reckless will stick with me forever.
“He gave me the rarest thing in the world, and I gave him heartache.”
Sometimes you just need the angst. It’s even better when it’s from an author you love.LJ Shen is bringing her “A” game with the first book in her new series ALL SAINTS HIGH. Set in the world of her series SINNERS OF SAINT, Pretty Reckless is about Daria and Penn.
Daria is Jamie’s daughter, she’s the mean one
Luna is Trent’s daughter, the one that doesn’t talk
Vaughn is Vicious’s son
Knight is Dean’s son
I couldn’t get enough of the angst, the enemies to lovers, and the all-around witty dialogue. Daria and Penn couldn’t be any more different, but these two knew each other deep down in their soul. They were so wrong for each other but when they were together it was off the charts. Their chemistry was electric and it was impossible to put this book down. LJ Shen had me drooling over the hero, admiring the heroine, and falling in love with the rest of the cast.
I am so ready for more from this series. Her writing was flawless, the book was a page-turner, and I can’t recommend this enough.
“This was so much more than first love. It was first hate, too.
Wow- what another amazing book by LJ Shen! Daria and Penn are quite the story. I love how this story unfolds and watching Daria grow. Being a teenager is hard- let alone a hothole teen!
This book takes so many twists and turns. I love seeing Melody and Jamie throughout the book! The relationships and how they develop and change and evolve kept me wanting more. It is so complex but so beautifully written. Daria is just one of those heroines who saves herself and how she goes about it is amazing!
I finished Pretty Reckless (my first LJ Shen read) earlier today and I’m not sure where to start.
At first Daria, our female lead, reminded me a little bit of a car accident on the highway. I didn’t really like her, but I couldn’t look away from her either. To be honest, none of the characters (with the exception of Daria’s younger sister) were very sympathetic.
While the characters didn’t start out sympathetic, they were compelling and watching the layers for Daria and Penn get peeled back made them more relatable and easier to root for.
This is a well written story that while the characters are the right age for a YA read, this is so much more. There are complex emotional issues, family dynamics, and several taboos dealt with.
The evolutions that both Penn and Daria experienced had me rooting for them to eventually find a happy place and left me impressed with both of them.
This is the first book in a new series focused on the students of All Saints High and I am curious to see what come of some the more entertaining secondary characters here.
WHOA. And do I mean WHOA! Pretty Reckless is high school meets some Real Housewives level of drama. For as much as YA and drama aren’t my thing, the way L.K. Shen wrote this made it unputdownable.
Daria. I wanted to like her. I really did but for about 70% of the book I didn’t. She was bratty, vindictive and petty. But she was also sad, lonely and lost. Especially when her mother, thinking she was doing something right, only added fuel to the fire by having Penn become a permanent fixture in their home. Goodness me- Penn. That boy was full of hate and vinegar. But he was just as broken and just as lonely as Daria. The only difference was he saw that she was hiding and worked his way in.
It was high school and hormones and rivalry. The wrong side of the tracks and the princess. It shouldn’t have made sense. They hated each other as much as they hated themselves but somehow when Daria and Penn were together all the garbage didn’t matter. It was just them, being them. Bleeding out their pain and anger. I loved seeing these two let their guards down, laugh and just be kids. Though those moments were few and far between, it was just the right amount to break up all the heavy and intense emotions.
And it was all building to this…the showdown. Cue the nervousness. I loved that Daria took a stand and did what she had to do. So did Penn. Although they were fighting for the same thing, they did it in vastly different ways. And the fallout was going to be HUGE. Nobody was going to be unaffected by it. Everyone, from Daria’s parents (yay for Mel and Jamie and a Vic sighting too) to the entire class at All Saints High had something to lose.
Pretty Reckless was all about family, friendship and forgiveness. And spun into this wild and twisted ride was a young romance that was profound and changed both Penn and Daria. Hats off to L.J. Shen for making their road twisted and downright hard. But the payoff, the ending, was so sweet and no less than these two warriors deserved.
I’ve been patiently waiting for Pretty Reckless ever since LJ Shen announced this series, and let me tell you that it was definitely worth the wait! Penn & Daria’s story was just the perfect way to reintroduce us to life in Todos Santos and the next generation at All Saints High.
Daria – she was everything I had hoped for being a tothole, yet she was nothing that I could have ever expected just the same. She was her own worst enemy – extremely impulsive in her words and actions trying to hurt others, but she immediately feels remorse for the things she says and does. She knows those decisions she makes will come back to haunt her, but she just can’t help herself. She projects an aura of confidence and perfection, but truthfully nothing in her life is as it seems. One can never truly know what goes on behind closed doors, at home or elsewhere……and Daria sure knew how to keep secrets and keep people guessing.
And Penn – oh my goodness. The guy from the wrong side of the tracks falling for the princess of the rival school. Seriously, he was such a jerk at times, but I could get why he acted that way towards Daria. He felt a sense of loyalty to his twin sister, yet he couldn’t help but resist that pull he had with his skull eyes. He completely surprised me by some of the things he said and did, and I could totally see why Daria fell in love with him.
I also loved that we got some perspective from Melody and Jaime, as they played a large supporting role throughout the story. I was saddened to see the turn the relationship between mother & daughter had taken; but no way would Daria be anything other than the apple of Jaime’s eye. And even though they weren’t in the story much, I loved the little scenes that we did get with the rest of the hotholes. I just love them.
If you start Pretty Reckless late in the day, be prepared to stay up all night and get no sleep, as once you start reading…. you won’t be able to stop. Such a fantastic and addicting story of teenage angst. Another book to add to my best of 2019 list!
PRETTY RECKLESS
By LJ Shen

Release Date April 27
OMM! Pretty Reckless in my opinion is LJ Shen’s best work to date. The anticipation for the spawns of the hothole’s was definitely worth the wait. Book 1 in the All Saints High series follows Daria, daughter of Jamie and Melody.
Daria Followhill and Penn Scully were a match made in hell. The chemistry between the two was scorching. The flame in their relationship ignited with such a spark creating a fire burning so hot between hate and anger within the depths of their souls. Daria and Penn’s different worlds collide making their union so unique especially with all the hatred and lies. Two different lives lived but the same emptiness and loneliness resides in their hearts. It was raw, reckless and beautifully written! I loved when all out war with words and actions between Daria and Penn turns to unexpected love between the two. I love how it sneaks up on them when they least expect it.
Being as the book was set in HS all the angst, drama, betrayal was perfectly written. It brought me back to my days in HS where cliques were formed, bitchiness and attitude were part of the everyday norm.
Leigh wrote this story well for people who have not read The Sinner’s of Saint series. It was easy to follow and can definitely be read as a standalone. I’m looking forward to the rest of the spawn’s books in the All Saints High series.
Love all things LJ Shen! Pretty Reckless is an amazing enemies-to-lovers, high school standalone romance.
Blooddyyy Hell Freaking Goodness.. LJ Shen had brought Bully Romance with a stunning book. Daria FollowHill was a ASH Princess, spoiled-brat, smart as hellion, beautiful girl and a popular girl with sky under her palm.
Never know, the Princess was not the girl she portrayed on… Daria was living with secrets behind her blackbook diary..The girl who heartstrucked for a young boy with a yellow stone.. Penn Scully, a poor boy from the slum..Nobody..
PRETTY RECKLESS were cruel, it wasnt easy for my poor fragile heart. The HighSchool Drama was heavy with manipulations, heighten emotions, pride and fame.. The book had said it all with the perfect images and I craved for it. Daria, my beautiful Princess..I adored you for your naive and thought of not being loved.. You are love and so does Penn..
I have enjoyed PS for the way teenagers struggled with their anger, dillema and weakness. This story was broken in a way but its repairable.. Wound will heal.. The pain was surreal.. This book was beyond my expectation. Bully Romance to the T! Dont miss it 🙂
The Hood Rat and The Golden Castle Princess
Daria Followhill is a mixed up girl with a facade that not many see through. Penn Scully is pretty much exactly who he is until he isn’t and that’s when he’s with Daria, someone he has hated since they were fourteen.
Oh my the humour might be very sarcastic but it is funny and on point. For example..’What in the name of the Holy Spirit and Kylie Jenner’s Botox fairy is happening?’ On the other hand there are serious issues that are very deep and handled extremely well, especially when Penn gives Daria a first hand practical example explaining a build up of rage-very cleverly done.
The emotional trauma I went through reading this book, let alone what the characters go through, is mind boggling. Heavens above, I am absolutely one hundred percent positive that you experience every single emotion possible and experience them deep in your heart and soul.
Another sensational story and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
Amazing beginning to a series. I love Daria and Penn. Wonderful characters and a reappearance of the Hotholes. This was a rollercoaster of emotion. I was sad, angry, happy and then frustrated. But I couldn’t put it down. From the time it published til the page. I read it fro. Cover to cover without putting it down. Highly recommend this book.
4.5/5 stars!
Daria and Penn’s story was like taking a trip down memory lane with the original Sinners in Todos Santos but with so much more drama and emotion!
LJ Shen crushed it with this book, keeping it real and raw and painful but oh so satisfying and sweet! I couldn’t get enough of these two enemies to lovers. Just when you thought you knew where the story was going, it takes a brutal twist and stabs you in the back.
A book filled with hate, revenge, secrets and betrayal. And some mischievous teenagers who sometimes need their legendary parents to step in and clean up their messes. Daddy Jaime was EVERYTHING in this book!!!! *swoon*
I can’t wait for more of the next generation, especially Knight and Vaughn who silently stole the spotlight at times in this read!
