I read this after the amazing Den of Vipers book and nothing can compare to that book! But I still gave these the “good ole college try”.
I would have to say this book could have been a little longer…maybe helped us out with WTF was going on. I mean I’m all for a surprise- BAM this is why all this sh!t went down- but uhh I need a little summin summin in the beginning.
We have a female who wakes up in a cell only remembering being at a club and then bam RAPED. Not too much exploring going on with her story. Perhaps books 2-5 will enlightening us. I hope it’s not a case of all new characters and very little linking back to the original story because I will be P.O.ed!
Idk K.A. Knight has been an author that I wanted to read all her books, but maybe that’s a mistake?! I will be reading the series though.
This story was a little quick. That is the only down side. I could have read about Dabria and Mishel for hours! There is so much to love about this book. Drama, on point. Dark and dirty, you bet. Alpha vibes, absolutely. If you are not a fan of dark, this book is not for you. The author really hits you with the gritty underbelly of society. Right off the bat, the story pulled me in. I was appalled and entranced at the same time. If you are a fan of dark romance, you definitely need this in your collection.
This is not your feel-good love story! It’s dark, sexy, and intriguing. There is pain, loss, and abuse, as well as strength and endurance; it’s not your typical love story and not for the faint of heart. The main characters have to overcome some dark circumstances in a dark place, but together they make the most of it. The chemistry between Dabria and Mishal is hot! These two heroes may be monsters, but they are not monstrous! Passion…love…strength, I couldn’t put the book down! There were some unanswered questions that I had by the end of the book, but I’m sure they will be answered eventually during the remaining Fallen Gods series! K.A. Knight does not write fairy-tale stories, and this book is definitely in her wheelhouse. Mishal talks about his other monster brothers, and I like that they are all different from each other. Makes me look forward to their special powers and personalities…and the women that will be theirs!
This was a awsome start to this amazing series I can’t wait to get started on the second book. I loved Dabria and Mishals story what they both went through and what they endured and they still fought back both ready to burn the world to ashes. I really enjoyed the amount of heat between them but who am I kidding every k.a.knight always has the perfect amount of heat. Definitely five stars from me!!!
Loved it!
I think this is a great start to a series. It kept my attention and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next. This book was light on the darkness for me. But I don’t have any triggers. There are some things that might trigger others so be warned before venturing into this world. I loved Misha and Nyre. They were everything you would want your jealous and protective man/dragon to be. I like that Nyre was separate from Misha. It gave an interesting twist to the story. Dabria is strong and is worthy of Misha and Nyre. She accepts them both and loves them unconditionally. This is a standalone but does lead into the next in the series. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series and look forward to meeting the rest of the brothers.
I am a huge fan of the dark reads, and K.A. sure does know what I like. I was hooked from the very start.
So In Pretty Painful we get introduced to Dabria, who is held prisoner, but it was not just her, the only person she cared for was also held prisoner. Something happens that pushes Dabria to a breaking point. She has unleashed something, something deadly, something hungry.
So I do not want to give anything away, but I will say that while Dabria is held, they think to break her by throwing her in with a monster. Little does she or they know, they just changed her life. Because said monster wants Dabria as his. And he is not the only one.
I am a huge fan of KA, I like her writing style and just how she creates these dark tales that do not fail to ensnare me. So if you are a fan of dark, twisted hella good tales, definitely give this one a try.
If you enjoy extreme steam, this is a good book for you. I did enjoy it, but it lacked a connection to the FMC. We learned a lot about Mishal and Nyre, but besides her family, Dabria’s past and present aren’t really addressed.
I assume we’ll find more about Mishal’s brothers in the series, but I do hope that we will learn more about why they’ve been locked away.
I’ll definitely be moving along to the next book!
4.5/5
The chemistry between Mishal(Nyre) and Dabria is explosive and you can feel it throughout the pages. K.A. Knight does a great job of building up the story and wanting more. When Mishal and Dabria cross paths they find their other half and keep us hoping that their love will be enough to save them from the fate they have found themselves in. The question is can love truly save you?
This is the first book of The Fallen Gods series and If this is a foreshadow of the books ahead I can’t wait to sink my teeth into them!
I Give this Book a 4.5/5 Star Rating, Listing as 4.
HEA(?): Yes!
Heat: 3.5-4ish/5
Romance: 4/5
Relationship Type: MF, but you could take it as a MFM or a MFD
Drama: 3-3.5/5
Suspense: 3.5/5
Dark(?): I’m a huge fan of Dark, so my rating is different. While I have Zero triggers, I can spot them. I give this again (to me) a 1ish/5 and will list as Dark Lite at least.
Pacing: Mid Fast, but it kept my attention and didn’t hinder the book at all.
No Spoilers.
It wasn’t as dark as I was hoping it would be, especially with a gorgeous cover like that!
I did want the guards to show up more, cause Dabria & Mishal and technically Nyre had too much quiet time.
But honestly this was really great book, and I look for to the rest of the series!
PRETTY AMAZING
Well, another book bites the dust. Thats 2 for 2. 2 books by this author that I have read and both books I have LOVED!!!!! Mishal, Nyre & Dabria were the dream team!!!! Their bond was so strong & holy hotness the sex was intense!!! The chemistry between the God, the dragon and the nightwalker was INCREDIBLE. I have a feeling this author is going to pull me out of all kinds of shells. I cannot wait to read about the 6 other brothers and their mates!!!!! The bext book being about the OG nightwalker is going to be so good! 5 stars!!!!!
Well at first I did think I would be able to read this one, with the way Katie makes you feel everything her characters feel, some triggers caught me by surprise. I am so glad I came and have it another chance. I love Dabria and Mishal, they went through some ugly carp and turned it into something beautiful and I can’t wait to expand this work with some more yummy brothers!!
This book was dark, delicious, decadent and all kinds of great things. It was also very emotional, and quite sad at times, but then there were moments of pure satisfaction and I am not talking about hot stuff, but murdery stuff.
This is so beautifully thought out and so well plotted and placed in Dawn’s world of Rage and Hate, I think all the fans will go crazy over it, like I did. But be warned if Dawn was not your favourite heroine, this is not a series for you. However, if you love Rage, you are going to love this to pieces.
The main characters are Dabria and Nyre and they are basically pout through hell before things start looking up. This is a love story, but not your regular love story, more like monster love story with violent passion, blood and murder. A lot of violence. A lot of passion. Tons of passion. And so much love.
This book is a fantastic start of the spin off series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one!
The series is best enjoyed if read in order and starting with Rage and Hate – Her Monsters series, then Pretty Painful (The Fallen Gods Book 1), Pretty Bloody (The Fallen Gods book Two), Pretty Stormy (The Fallen Gods book Three), Pretty Wild (The Fallen Gods book Four), and three more books have been announced and the third book of Her Monsters.
Pretty painful
Love the idea and the storyline.
Steamy, dark
Fast paced
Sets the stage seamlessly for the next son
Can’t wait to read
Dabria is such a fierce woman and her god has gone through so much in his life. This book is filled with plenty of action and a lot of steam.
All right that’s it! Why in the everloving universe do I not get my own monster???? I’ve put it out in the universe and even made my own vision board and nothing! Is it bad to be jealous of a character? Cause I’ll be darned if I wasn’t green with envy of Dabria.
So let me explain…K.A. Knight has an awesome series called Her Monsters. If you haven’t started it you’re missing out. Anyway this book is a stand alone set in that world – you don’t have to read the Her Monsters series to read this. This book is everything you would expect from this author – dark, gritty, sweet, cute and hella sexy. Dabria is in a rough situation and has lost all hope , in a moment of desperate rage and despair she finds out something very surprising about herself. While still a prisoner Dabria is thrown in with a monster and it all turns around from there. Mishal and Nyre are all Alpha – dark, dirty and possessive – and they’ve decided Dabria belongs to them (lucky duck!). I loved the interaction between all 3 of them. This is definitely a fast burn romance and dang does it burn. The story is well written and develops well, although be warned it isn’t at a 100% since these standalones will feature the rest of the brothers mentioned in this book. What this means is that it will leave you hanging and salivating for the next one but it does end on an HEA for the main characters specific to this book. Totally worth diving into…
Gahd this book is so pretty! The chapter headings, the first page all of it is droolworthy.
So about the words, its everything you can expect from Katie. Its hot and has an amazing storyline. Its a short story but filled with everything you need. 5 stars well deserved
omg, just like all of Katie’s books, could not put this one down!! fabulous from beginning to end … so excited for the next!
Wow what an intense and steamy first book in this exciting new series by the talented KA Knight! The beginning of the book was difficult to read, there are a lot of triggers and it is a dark part of the world that is hard to read about. Debria is an intriguing FMC, she starts of vulnerable and is damaged and then she is recreated as powerful and mated to Mishal and Nyre. This is one bada$$ dragon that draws in the reader, he is captured and beaten but not beaten down. He is also so vulnerable and had a difficult life and the love that Debria gives mates him and Nyre strength. KA Knight has set the scene for what is coming next in this series and it is going to be intense. This book had me as soon as I started reader and I could not put it down…yes it will not be everyone’s cup of tea but go into knowing that it is intense and you will come out loving. I cannot wait for more from this captivating new world.
Like every book that Katie has ever written this one was impossible to put down. It combines dark elements but to its very core it is a love story. I loved watching Dabria grow and change throughout the book and immediately loved Mishal and his counterpart Nyre. What can I say? I have a thing for the broken bad boys. This book brings out many emotions and is not for the faint of heart. I can’t wait to meet and learn more about Mishal’s brothers! I need more.
Wow this spin off was amazing. I love the world of monsters and how the author brings pain but love together. Really enjoyed the characters and I’m excited for more from this universe
