But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that’s cruelly ripped open when Claire’s husband is killed.
The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.

Dreadful book. Nasty people doing nasty things. Not a good book for this author. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!! Less than 1 star
Karen Slaughter never disappoints with the twists and turns as you fly thru her pages! Definately twisted! You won’t be able to put this one down, though you will want to just to breathe for a moment!
If you can get past the graphic violence and torture, it has great twists and turns.
This book kind of dragged on. I really like the story line and the concept, but it went into too much detail at certain points. I skimmed parts of it. It was gory and gruesome – which made me give the book three stars instead of two.
Very good book a great read
Amazing
I different murder mystery
I didn’t really like it but I bought it! So I read it
Most of the ‘twists’ were easy to see coming, and some of the violence felt out of place within the narrative of the story.
This is my first book I have read of Karin Slaughter and I can’t wait to read her other books. Wow, what a great book! Definitely recommend it if you like thrillers. It kept me on my toes its twist and turns.I could not put the book down some parts are graphic but well done.
I gave this 3 stars because I didn’t like the premise of snuff-porn and it was very unsettling. I normally enjoy Karen Slaughter’s books, but not this one. It is well-written, but “not my cup of tea”.
I really like Karin Slaughter. Especially her Georgia series. Looking forward to more of her books.
I haven’t sat down and become so engrossed in a book in quite awhile. I couldn’t put this down! Glad to have my love of reading reignited and look forward to reading more by this talented writer!
Definitely a page turner, but the content was more gruesome than I had anticipated.
Karen slaughter is another author that I automatically buy just because she never leaves me down. I always enjoy her books and leaves me wanting to read more of her work.
Kept me up until wee hours in the morning. Could not put down.
Karin Slaughter is my current favorite author … excellent character development and plots that make sense with enough twists to make it compelling.
This plot was DARK. Enough so, that it was disturbing. To make humor, it made me hate men and I am one. So I give it 4 stars to support the author, but whereas most of her other works were worth the 5, this one was too disturbing.
Disturbing content but good story with interesting characters.
Was too gruesome!
Criminal minds in steroids.
Too much snuff porn. Very gruesome.
