Sisters. Strangers. Survivors.
More than twenty years ago, Claire and Lydia’s teenaged sister Julia vanished without a trace. The two women have not spoken since, and now their lives could not be more different. Claire is the glamorous trophy wife of an Atlanta millionaire. Lydia, a single mother, dates an ex-con and struggles to make ends meet. But neither has recovered from the horror and heartbreak of their shared loss—a devastating wound that’s cruelly ripped open when Claire’s husband is killed.
The disappearance of a teenage girl and the murder of a middle-aged man, almost a quarter-century apart: what could connect them? Forming a wary truce, the surviving sisters look to the past to find the truth, unearthing the secrets that destroyed their family all those years ago . . . and uncovering the possibility of redemption, and revenge, where they least expect it.
Powerful, poignant, and utterly gripping, packed with indelible characters and unforgettable twists, Pretty Girls is a masterful novel from one of the finest writers working today.

Too much perversion
Too rough & raw for me though it did hold my interest.
Major trigger warning. I won’t spoil anything but I would really like to note the intense and graphic violence towards women. Slaughter writes masterfully which paints a picture that can be a bit much for some people. I will say that she portrays these events with such understanding in what it is like to experience trauma. Overall, this story draws you in and holds you to the last page! Releasing you with a good cry and increased suspicion of everyone.
Twists and turns in this one. A good read for a rainy day get-away.
Unrealistic and excruciating.
This story is insanely triggering, especially for those who have experienced similar trauma. I can’t fault the story for that. It was beautifully written and, once it picked up, moved at a great pace.
I really enjoyed this book It really was very good
This is a well written, intense, gripping, haunting novel of suspense with well developed family relationships. It should be read after the prequel, “Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes”. It is a real page turner!
I have always liked this author. Her books never disappoint when it comes to characters and suspense.
Too busy
Was a wierd sad , horrible twisted yet was oddly entertaining and with a happy ending that makes you want to cheer!!!
Keeps you on your toes as to who is friend vs foe. If only we knew how to read minds – some unexpected twists..
Good book but very long
Could not stop reading
Definitely a page turner, but disturbing
While I do recommend this book, I think it should come with a disclaimer about the gore and violence. Because of the high level of gore and disturbing written visual scenes, I gave it a 4 star rating instead of a 5. This was my first Karin Slaughter book. Obviously she is great author with tons of imagination. I wish she would of left some of the details to my own discretion.
Slaughter never disappoints.
This Author writes beautiful characters and creates original mysteries. Having read everything that she has written, I am still so amazed at how each story feels fresh and original.
Listened to the audio book – 17.5 hours! This is the longest audio book so far for me. No reason for it to be this long. Cut out the repetition and over description, it could be about half that. Just grew tedious after a while. At the end was the Novella Blonde Hair, Blue eyes. That gets a 1 star. I did not find it very interesting at all.
This was my first experience with this author. I hope not all of her books are like this.
Really good book! Really long story, as a result of the many details and layers of the story; probably good have been a little shorter. As much as I like mysteries and thrillers, this one had a lot of horrible scenes that were very graphically described. While I am well aware that this type of writing is to be expected in mysteries and thrillers, in this story it got to be a little too much for me after awhile and I started skimming those sections of the story towards the end.
Definitely much better than the Silent Patient and much more worthy of winning GR thriller/mystery book of the year. JMHO.
