The beginning was a little hard to get through but the end did NOT disappoint. So hang in there through all the “pretty mindedness”, it is worth it!
I’m enjoying this series. I cannot wait to read the next one. I actually liked this one better than the first. Tally has gone through a lot of character development. Zane was a nice new introduction. I would recommend this series.
🙂
Although this book is fictional, an underlying theme for this book seems very close to reality: In order to be noticed, you have to be pretty.
I love to read all the books written by the author. His books are interesting and insightful. Things are never as they seem.
Although it is different from the first, the series seems to come to a full circle that I thought was a bit boring. I would still recommend this book, however!
Love it
This book changed how I look at dystopias.
When I read this book as a kid about to enter high school, I was thoroughly engrossed in everything that was occurring within these pages. An enjoyable addition to the series, worthy of a read.
The Uglies series is an incredible journey. Following Tally on her exploits through Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras you see a wide range of viewpoints about the dystopian Society Tally was born into. The descriptive imagery of the writing helps us to get a strong feel for the world and its characters. The science fiction ideas in this series are inspired and I always find myself wishing I could dive right into the book and hop on a hoverboard!
During my read, there was action, romance, thriller and much more! This is about wanting to be perfect but having to pay a price. A price that envolves consequences! All the teenagers want are to be pretty and that still has consequences! Throughout the book, one pretty and perfect girl finds out that the surgery she got to become pretty, messed up her brain. The people that did her surgery put chips in their brains to make them forget most of their past! They need to find a cure! Read the book to find out what happens!!
Soooo this my favorite book of the entire series by far.
This book was so fun to read. All the tricks they played were so awesome to read about. I liked the whole world building and fun teenage atmosphere it held. I really need a hoverboard in my life. Tally was a lot better to deal with in this book and I rooted for her throughout the whole book. I don’t know if calling her character strong is a good word, but I appreciate her determination and her smarts. Plus we get introduced to some new characters like Zane who I absolutely love. He is like a better version of Tally and I liked his involvement to the story because he definitely made it much more interesting. Shay was annoying as usual, but I will not even get into that.
Scott Westerfeld did not disappoint with this follow-up. The ending took an somewhat unexpected turn. I am dying to see how this story concludes.
First of all I must say, what a cliffhanger! So be warned, if you do not have book 3 waiting to start when you finish this book, you may be irritated and antsy! I finished this book last night and immediately started on book 3 until I fell asleep! Like any good dystopian book, this series keeps you on your toes. One minute you think things just might work out for Tally and then an unexpected twist happens that you did not see coming at all. This book was far from predictable, so if you like being thrown for a loop, this series is for you.
