There were two brothers—identical twins—and though I loved them both, my soul belonged to only one.Annalia Del Valle has loved Preston Sawyer all her life. The daughter of an impoverished migrant farmworker, she grew up as an outcast in what was no more than a tiny, cooped up shack in California’s Central Valley. But her heart found freedom in the land, in the wide-open spaces of Sawyer Farm, and … Sawyer Farm, and in the boys who were her only friends.
Preston has yearned for Annalia since he was a boy. But a sense of honor kept him from pursuing her until he’s unable to hold back any longer and their worlds—and bodies—collide one hot summer night. A night that sets off a chain of events that will alter their lives forever.
Now Annalia is back in town after disappearing without a trace for six long months. Determined to reclaim her heart, her life, and the baby she left behind—the son who was created in a moment of lust and love and pent-up yearning.
Preston has survived grief, a ravaging drought, and the despair of heartache, but he’s not sure he can survive Annalia again. And he might be unwilling to try. Will pride and bitterness keep him from the one thing he’s always longed for?
How do you heal what is irreparably broken? How do you forgive that which is unforgivable? How do you discover that real honor comes not from circumstance, but from the place deep in our hearts where truth resides? And how do you move beyond the wounds of the past to discover that some loves are as solid as the ground beneath your feet, and as enduring as the earth itself?
THIS IS A STAND-ALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY GEMINI. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

An enjoyable read. I always love books by this author. Preston and Annalia are great characters.
Preston and Cole, twins with a competitiveness and polar opposite spirits. Both love Annalia, but as the years pass, the love is different for each.
Annalia has not had it easy and she works very hard. The daughter of an undocumented immigrant, nothing is free. She is bullied in social situations, but her friendship with the Sawyer boys is a bright spot in her life.
Love and loss plague them and getting so lost that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Annalia leaves. Leaves Preston and their young child. She returns several months later to a hate filled Preston and a town bent on talking about her and making her suffer for the decisions she’s made. Friendships are forged and doors open. Doors to a job, her child, the man she has always loved, and the relationship she has always dreamed of.
I enjoyed the audio book and the narrators were good.
Young love…..few forget that moment in youth when you realize you have feelings for someone that is a huge part of your life. For Annalia – living near the Sawyer Farm provided her with so many wonderful memories. Time spent with the Sawyer Twins….Preston and Cole. Even at that early age, Annalia knew deep down in her heart that Preston held a piece of her in his palms.
The friendship that Cole and Preston have with Lia is unique. Knowing that Lia is the daughter of an illegal immigrant, Cole and Preston always make sure Lia doesn’t feel remorse for her circumstances. Their protective instinct begin to change into something more as the years pass. That brings on the competitiveness of the twins as well. Even though Preston harbors deeper feelings for Lia than Cole, a ‘deal’ is made that will change the course of the friendship that these three share.
Time will be a wicked host to the triangle that these three are embroiled in. The repercussions will be felt for years to come. A stain on a love that started out so pure. A tragedy that embroils three hearts in a way that none could have predicted.
*Sigh* Knowing my past reading experiences with Mia’s books, I knew the book centered around the Gemini Zodiac sign would be unique. After all, a romance involving twins is sure to be one of those stories that grabs you and squeezes all of the emotion out of your heart. That was the case with Preston’s Honor.
This was a book that had many ups and downs. The characters full of indecisive feelings and emotions. There will be times you wonder why certain paths in life were taken. In other parts of the story – you will feel the pain and heartache that exudes within the pages. It is a culmination of creativity on Mia Sheridan’s part. Every single moment pulling you deeper within this triangle that has so many facets to its tale.
As you begin – you wonder what in the world was Lia thinking. After all…you can’t imagine doing what she did. Or can you? Living a life of poverty, of always feeling ‘less’ than those around you is bound to wear on your personality. Do you really know despair of this magnitude? Not knowing where you next meal will come from, sleeping in a shack, doing jobs that others would deem as ‘beneath them’ just to make ends meet. It’s a type of madness that very few understand. It is part of the cycle of being part of the migrant workforce. It leaves deep scars that take root in your soul in unimaginable ways. I tried to keep this in mind when I wavered in my feelings for Lia’s character.
Then there are the twins. So competitive by nature, but yet one is more reserved than the other. How many times do we see this in real life? Preston’s choices are definitely questionable, but then I remember his struggle with being honorable. The lengths that one travels just to keep a promise can be extreme. In Preston’s case – it cost him a world of time, love, and compassion. An unnecessary quandary when looking from the outside in, but a reality of his depth of character if you imagine him as a dedicated man in real life.
Tragedy shapes us in so many ways. For Preston, Lia, and Cole – life took some unexpected turns. Road blocks that kept them from expressing what it was they desired most in life. As always – Mia Sheridan wrote a touching tale that speaks to the depth of human emotion. The despair that exists when faced with an unimaginable set of circumstances. Lia and Preston’s tale is definitely full of heartache, emotional turmoil, and uncertainty. All of it leads these two soul mates to the reality that is their future. A roller coaster of emotions that will leave you thinking of their journey long after you turn the last page. An endless heartbeat that began when Lia spit that strawberry out, and became a part of the Sawyer Brothers lives from that day forward.
I struggled with rating this. The beginning and the end were good, but I did not like the middle. I had a real issue with Cole and what he did. I think he knew how Preston really felt and took advantage of the fact the he knew Preston would be honorable. What he pulled was , in my opinion, really crappy. And do not get me started on Preston’s horrible mother. I almost stopped reading, but I had faith in Mia Sheridan’s writing. She managed to bring everything around to a satisfactory ending.
Another great story. I don’t know what it is about her books, but I always want to hug my tablet when I’m done. It really is a beautiful story, you can’t help but fall in love with Preston and Lia. Yeah, this book got me feeling some feels.
Terrific writing
“Someday I’m going to leave here, but a part of my heart is going to remain. With you.”
Mia Sheridan is one of my favorite authors and I always get very excited the moment I hear about a new book. I trust Mia’s writing and story-telling abilities, so I don’t even check the blurbs of her books to decide if I will read it or not. I didn’t know anything about this book before I started reading it. The prologue gave me a taste of what the book had in store for me. It was pretty emotional and I was anxious to find out why Annalia left everything behind.
“My heart, it seemed, knew only how to beat for him, like the wings of a bird soaring through an endless sky.”
I am going to be honest and say that I mostly dislike flashbacks, especially the ones that last LONG. However I really liked it in this book. It was very essential in understanding where Annalia was coming from and how she grew up. My heart broke a million times for her, and there were a couple of things I could relate to, being a daughter of a migrant myself. Mia didn’t hold back and did a great job in showing that most people leaving their home country just want a better life for themselves and their children. I was happy that she included this in the book, especially during the times we live in.
“The feeling of not belonging anywhere has followed me so relentlessly.”
Preston and Annalia’s relationship developed in a strange sequence. It was obvious they had a very strong connection, however because of certain things it never really went beyond a friendship. They both were yearning for each other, but they both thought the other didn’t feel anything for them. They were young so I can’t really blame them for not coming out and telling the other what they really felt. Especially, Annalia who felt like she wasn’t worth anything. Her self-esteem was really low, and it broke my heart seeing her struggle with finding herself. The road to happiness for Preston and Lia wasn’t an easy one, but it was worth it. Preston’s Honor isn’t my favorite Mia Sheridan book, but it was a very solid romance book. I really enjoyed it.
WOW WOW WOW is all I can say. Mia Sheridan at her finest….again! I don’t think I can write a review to do this book justice. I loved it. I literally had to put the book down a few times because I was so overwhelmed with emotion. I was shattered! The emotional build up and the steady climb of the story had me on the edge of my seat.
This is a story about love, family, culture, circumstances, pain, forgiveness, and new beginnings.
Annalia Del Valle (Lia) is the daughter of an impoverished migrant farmworker. She lived a life most people cannot imagine. Growing up with only her Spanish speaking mother was very lonely for Annalia. She craved affection. She needed to belong. She was somewhat isolated due to other circumstances as well. And she built walls to protect herself.
“I’ve always tried to, I don’t know, diminish myself, fade into the background, keep quiet, and not make a fuss.”
Preston and Cole Sawyer are twin brothers whose parents own a farm that Lia’s mom worked on. They met when they were young and formed a fast friendship, often playing together while their parents farmed the land. Although the twins were three years older they still had an amazing friendship and connection.
As they got older things began to change. Preston and Cole began to take a much closer look at Lia….
“Are you interested in Lia, Pres?” he asked casually.
“Yeah. But she’s too young now. I just…” I was waiting for her. I’ve always been waiting for her.”
Tragedy strikes and their lives are forever altered. I do not want to spoil the story so I will not go into details. The story is so beautifully written. The angst, the regrets, the unspoken words. I was captivated by Preston, Cole & Lia. I think Mia said it best in her blurb for the book:
“How do you heal what is irreparably broken? How do you forgive that which is unforgivable? How do you discover that real honor comes not from circumstance, but from the place deep in our hearts where truth resides?”
Mia Sheridan has written an amazing story. Full of emotion, heart break, love and forgiveness. Her words pour onto the pages and fill you up like a deep breath until it is finally released……
