I thought I had it all until he came back.Julian Caine, my childhood friend, was a short, scrawny thirteen-year-old boy with thick glasses and a mouthful of braces the last time I saw him.Fourteen years later, he’s no longer an awkward teen. He’s all man.A. Beautiful. Staggering. Drop-dead. Gorgeous. Man.This is more than a fleeting attraction. I’ve spent too many sleepless nights obsessing over … nights obsessing over him while my fiancé sleeps next to me.
Then Julian makes a proposal I can’t ignore.
One night.
That’s all he’s offering.
If I say yes, will I finally have it all? Or will it be a prelude to disaster?

Prelude is Book One in The Interlude Duet. Please note there is no cheating.

Review Finding new authors will never be a boring task. But finding new authors that can make an impact in your life is priceless. That’s what Auden Dar give us in her debut book “Prelude”. An spectacular story that will introduce you to the talented and caring Lina, who struggles with the monotony of a relationship with her fiancé Andrew. A dedicated teacher that with the pass of the years lose focus on what Lina craves and needs from him. But that’s when the heroine of this unforgetable story crosses paths with her childhood friend, Julian, a successful businessman and, let’s not forget, an extremely attractive man.
But what if everything she thought was enough it’s not anymore? Is she going to take the risk to find out what really happiness is or is she going to keep the only life she knew for so long?
I will always value the talent of an author. The ability to create a story that will give you the feels every time you read it, but when I can find a really well written book, I get even more attached.
Auden Dar makes magic with her words, the exquisite taste that you will find in her music selection, the mention of talented authors, detailed places and scenes, are gonna make it almost impossible to stop reading more of her job.
I’m eager to know what else this incredible author has in store for us, because just reading a few pages, will never be enough.
An amazing debut book! All the feels. HIghly recommend!
This author was new to me and I’ve had this book and the sequel on my kindle forever. I regret now, that it took me so long to get around to reading them. I loved this book. I loved Lina and Julian. Childhood friends who hadn’t seen each other in 14 years. Lina’s engaged. The engagement that keeps on going, for 6 years. Andrew doesn’t appreciate her. He comes across as self centered. It’s all about him and she gets nothing in return. Spending time with Julian again and realising how for her, their childhood friendship has grown to an attraction as he’s not the awkward teen any more, has her fighting her feelings. Until she decides enough is enough with Andrew. Julian gives her everything in one day, on her birthday. The kind of day she’s never had from her fiance. He tells her he wants one night. One night together, but in the cold hard light of day, things aren’t what she expected, and she is left feeling hurt and betrayed. Can’t wait to start book two in this series.
Prelude begins with Lina…going about her stagnant life with her bf/fiance. She loves him but, a chance encounter with a dark, handsome stranger who catches her eye…leaves her longing for more and question what she wants for herself. She learns that dark, handsome stranger is Julian Caine..a childhood friend. When she decides for herself it’s time for a change… and later a proposition of a night of passion with Julian Caine..is when Prelude leaves wanting more and answers to secrets. This story captures you and leaves you wanting to know what’s next. Definitely worth the read!
The emotional turmoil is in sane with this book! Julian Caine is just hot as can be from the very beginning! My heart spent most of the book just crying for Lina! This girl has suffered so much loss in her life that she is willing to settle for a passionless relationship just so that she isn’t alone. Then comes her friend from childhood, Julian. There are some other interesting things going on with this story that I have yet to uncover. Auden had me feeling this book. I felt the loneliness, the jealousy, the pain, and then I felt the joy and happiness. It was just such a great book… and now I am totally ready to dive into book 2!!
Fantastic Debut Release from Auden Dar. I can’t believe it’s her first book. I binged this in one day – it’s a really great read.
The story is written from Lina’s POV and she was a character that I quickly warmed to, and felt protective of. Her colourless life is interrupted by the return of her childhood best friend Julian, and he’s definitely not the gangly teen she remembers. He’s a total babe & a total dirty talking assehole. But who doesn’t love a bit of assehole in their book boyfriend??
Add in two of the funniest best friends I have read in a book, plenty of angst, great chemistry and some really well written emotional scenes and you’ve got a great read. There’s a definite slowburn feel to the book which I loved. Always happy to wait for a great story to unfold and the story ended leaving me wanting more.
I am really looking forward to more stories from this new author. Definitely recommend.
PS It ends on a cliffhanger
Beautifully written! Stunning story, a must read!
4.25 stars!
I love stories where its clear to the reader that two people should be together, but they keep “missing each other” through circumstances or miscommunication. That’s a theme that carries throughout The Interlude Duet (which I read quickly, back-to-back.) Add that with the fact that the main characters are childhood friends, and you’ll be rooting for them to get together the whole time. A fun, sexy read from start to finish!
Prelude is seriously hooot!!!
D*mn Julian Caine for being hot! Lina’s carnal thoughts about Julian makes me giggle. I love this book, it doesn’t sounds like a debut novel. Miss Auden Dar sounds like she writes many novels as far as this book is so good! I loved all the characters, and I wonder why Andrew behave like that? Ugh! Need to read Interlude!
This book is a MUST READ!
Drum rolls please. We have new amazing author to look for new books from and it’s Auden Dar of course with her first book “Prelude”. She definitely became one of my favorite USA indie authors. I got really lucky to find her books when I got lucky to find opportunity for “Interlude” arc reading. And as I singed out I found out it was second book in the two book series. So that’s no surprise I wanted to know how the story begin and so I got the opportunity to read both of them (lucky, lucky me).
So now of to the story. “Prelude” introduce us to Lina one of main characters and shows her current life as well as her life that she had in the past. She is in long term relationship, sixteen years relationship to be exact, with her boyfriend Andrew who is her high school sweetheart, her first and until now last love. But Lina is not happy in this relationship. As a strong character she still is holding to that hope that things with get better even if they are getting worse. After all she is engaged for years without seeing even hint of the ring nor any mentioning of the wedding and her fiancé is treating her more like sure thing, basically like help or piece of home equipment. Even when they are in bed everything is planned to the point that whole situation could not be more unsatisfying and boring. And Andrew doesn’t seem to notice nor care about Lina’s needs. But Lina tries to understand his fiancé and she tries to defend his behavior to her friends which both I totally adore. And I must admit that I hate Andrew for most part of this book. I thought about him as a selfish a-hole who cares only about himself.
And one things led to another until on one “date & sex” Wednesday when being intimate with her fiancé Lina starts to fantasize about man she saw in the coffee shop the other day. But as the story will tell it the man was so much more than her fantasies. That man turned up to be Lina’s long lost childhood friend who invites her to his father’s birthday party. And I was so convinced that there will be cheating. Luckily it did not happen.
What I like in this book is the time it took for Julian’s and Lina’s relationship to evolve. One may suspect it to happen definitely faster but I think after not seeing each other for such long time it would be weird if they would come from hi to relationship stuff very quickly. We may see how it all evolves and that’s one of many advantages of this book. So Lina an Julian got their friendship back once again and she starts to notice that even as a friend Julian treats her better than Andrew does as her fiancé. And finally Lina noticed that she deserve to be treated with love, affection and respect and not like an old piece of furniture forgotten and ignored. Those events led to Lina ending her relationship with Andrew and Lina with low self-esteem and self-conscious goes back to New York. What I love about Lina’s character is her thoughts that many times made me laugh and if said thoughts would be said it may cause some trouble for her definitely. So in the New York Lina goes back to being friend with Julian and another thing I love is that beside “let’s be friends” thing there is a lot, sometimes not so subtle, flirting and Lina’s not so innocence out loud thinking. Lina is definitely my kind of girl.
So as I mentioned earlier that slow burn relationship was really fun to read. Only in few last chapter something serious is finally happening between them and in order to not spoil you that amazing moments all I will say that Lina had very happy birthday celebration. And when I was finishing this book I was really rooting for this two cause after so much lost in both of their lives they definitely deserve to be happy and they definitely deserve each other.
And of course as always with amazing first book in the series there must be a cliff-hanger and this one is so big I was so happy I had arc for book two ready to read and I was able to hop right into it as soon as I finished that book. Yes you may be furious about Julian’s behavior but everything that happen have some good reasoning here. So be patient and read “Interlude”, cause
This heartbreak is just a prelude…
So many questions
Although I found parts of this story kind of hard to understand, it is also truly about life. How do you leave the only life you have ever known? How do you trust the person who left you behind. The chemistry between Lina and Julian is off the charts. I need the second book to answer my many questions. Please read book 2. It makes everything in this book so much better.
OMG. Talk about a good book. It kept me on my toes the whole book. It was well written and I loved how all the music played into the book. A man that loves her but can’t get his head out of is ass to love her the way he should to a man who has to many secrets !!!! This is a mist read warming cliff hanging at the end !!!!
I find this very slow to get into.
Evangelina is stuck in a rut unsatisfied with her sex life with her fiancé.
She meets up with her old childhood friend Julian, instant attraction.
Deciding this is not what she wants her life to be she breaks up with her fiancé Andrew who to be honest didn’t seem to care.
Starved for sex she seriously wants to jump Julian.
It’s a very slow build up to her and Julian and just when the story starts to become interesting, it ends paving the way to the next book.
* ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW *
Oh my fucking god!!!! What a book, what a cliffhanger!! I sure did love to lust/hate Julian. YUUUMMMY. Love a man with an accent.
I was very pleasantly surprised with this book. It was a slow build-up and loved every bit of it.
I didn’t expect to laugh as much as I did. Lina’s internal monologues and accidental moments when she said something out loud she wasn’t suppose to say were HILARIOUS!
It’s my first book from Auden Dar and I have to say, she completely sold me. Starting Interlude right fucking meow!!
book 1 of interlude duet Highly recommend it
