I was drawn to darkness, and he was the abyss.Safe.It’s a liar’s word. No one is ever truly safe.Control is how I survived. I lived my life by two principles: order and excellence. My moral compass steered me out of the backwoods of Tennessee and towards the woman I was destined to become, but not without gathering a few skeletons along the way. Eventually, I found success, but my restless, … Eventually, I found success, but my restless, relentless nature still left me feeling unsatisfied. Then I met a ghost of a man, an enigma.
He wanted me submissive. I wanted to know him.
At first, I was convinced Daniello was a figment of my imagination, a beautiful and dangerous apparition with an animalistic hunger and insatiable thirst. He threatened my need for order, and in his absence, I became more haunted by my past.
My love for him made me flesh and bone—vulnerable.
I was finally a woman with something to lose and would do anything to keep it.
But when my past caught up with my present, it became clear that control was a farce, and safe would forever remain an illusion.
This is a dark romance and contains elements that are unsuitable for sensitive readers.

This book sucked me in from the beginning and by the end I was fully submersed in their world. It was an up all night I have to finish and find out what happens kinda story. This makes you question how far you would go to save yourself or someone you love and question is it ok to love the bad boy. I recommend going into this story blind. It was amazing and just more proof what a absurdly talented and versatile writer Kate Stewart is!
Read it back in Nov 2015, still loved it a second time around! Diving into book 2!
I really got into this book! Loved Taylor from The Excess Series, she’s a great character. So glad we got to read more about her and her back story. Um Daniello, hello you. Talk about a man of mystery, what’s your story?! These two sizzle together. Kudos to the last half of the book, it’s a real page turner. I can’t wait for the next one.

“Someone had to love the fucking villain”. Oh hell yeah they do!
I am so happy with the conclusion of Taylor and Daniello’s story! It was packed full of suspense and it had me all over the place. My heart was pounding one minute and breaking the next. We get hot and sexy, characters growing, some changing for the better (or for worse), some sacrifices that where made and a lot of closure. Whew it was one helluva ride!
I almost broke out into the running man when I saw that we get some different POV’s in this one. Daniello was the International Man of Mystery in the last book, I’m so glad we got to find out all about him in this one. That made me extremely happy. He’s so yummy. Taylor is just overall a complete badass. She endured so much in her life, she deserves a whole lot of happy.
Overall, what a fantastic erotic suspense duet. I thought it was well worth the wait!
All hail the Queen. Kate Stewart has done it again. I read this back in 2015 under Angelica Chase and Camouflage still rocks. I’ve read all her books and know what to expect from her writing. And yet Stewart keeps surprising me with her versatility.
I’ve been looking forward to reading this book because its genre. Stewart delivered and succeeded on every level.
Holy shit! I loved Camouflage. Let me rephrase it. I devoured it! In one sitting! What an exciting story with some very strong and deeply flawed characters.
Taylor is the secondary character from The Excess series and here in Camouflage she’s the leading character. There’s so much depth and story to be told about her. She’s a feisty, sexy as hell and a very opinionated woman, who knows what she wants and what she certainly doesn’t want. She’s such a fun and fresh character, despite her broken and tragic childhood. I was with her all the way and was captured by her story.
The man she comes across is her complete opposite. Daniello is an Italian sexy beast and an alpha with a big A. Man, I loved him from the first page. He oozes power, strength and sex. I love the mystery to him and I’m eager to know more about him. NOW! The way he controls and his chemistry with Taylor is scorching hot. More than hot. They create F***ing fire! Their scenes together showed their need for each other perfectly and I loved how they tested one another.
The story is what captured me from start to finish and what a story it was. Kate Stewart knows how to write erotica with great suspense. She masters it to perfection and has outdone herself with this beautiful piece of work. I can’t rave
enough about this book. Just read it and be entertained. I sure as hell was.

I had to wait two years for the sequel to Camouflage but let me tell you all it was worth the wait. No question about that. When I finished reading Camouflage I had so many questions and was so excited to see where Kate Stewart would take Taylor, Daniello, Laz and Amber with Crosshairs.
The story picks up right where Camouflage ended and from just reading the first couple of pages it’s non stop suspense and erotica at it’s best. Holy hell this story was exhilarating. I kept questioning certain characters and their motives not knowing who to trust. I was really invested in this story and it was like I was watching a movie in my head.
I loved Taylor in Camouflage and while reading Crosshairs my love and admiration for her only intensified. She’s been a child of abuse and neglect like her younger sister Amber but doesn’t use it as an excuse or let it define her. She uses it as a strength to achieve her goals she sets her mind to. All she’s done since she was a child was trying to save herself and Amber. She’s still fighting for it in Crosshairs when her past and her first love catches up with her.
The mysterious and very dangerous Daniello is a man Taylor can’t resist and vice versa. Their intense and sexual relationship is intoxicating and addictive. They enjoy one another for what their relationship is, no strings, but danger lurks around the corner which brings them closer emotionally.
This story was so damn entertaining and crazy Hot. A perfect combination of gritty action, suspense and delicious erotica. The characters especially Taylor and Daniello were so intricate and layered that I loved every revelation that was revealed. Especially Taylor’s past and her involvement with the mysterious Ray was a highlight of mine, cause he had a huge impact on her and on how she viewed herself, life and the world.
Their pasts had shaped them into the people they were today. Loyal to family and to love.
Kate Stewart excels with this genre just as she does with romance, angst and romcom. Wow! She nails Crosshairs to perfection. The story is well developed and so are the characters. Her attention to details and her mixture of suspense, romance and erotica is effortlessly executed. Crosshairs has definitely been worth the wait.
