The Scriptures tell us that when we pray the will of God, he delights to answer our prayers. But what is God’s will in any given situation? How can we know it? And if we don’t know it, how can we pray it?Linda Evans Shepherd shows readers that God’s will is not a mystery–it’s clearly laid out in his Word through his many promises. Through stories, practical application, examples of prayers, and … prayers, and guided reflection, Shepherd leads readers toward a more powerful prayer life. Arranged by topic for ease of use, this book shows how to pray God’s promises
– of his presence
– of love
– of peace
– of joy
– of hope
– for provision
– for health
– for breakthroughs
– for our relationships
– over children and loved ones
Shepherd includes a chapter on God’s powerful answers to prayer that will inspire readers to search the Scriptures, pray God’s will, and wait expectantly for his promised answers.

I liked reading the introduction from the author and her personal story how prayer and scripture helped her during a trip. I truly believe this is the case, however, I feel that there has to be an element of faith and belief-not just reading a scripture and praying. Sometimes our prayers are not answered right away or burdens lifted quickly if at all; but constant prayer and scripture reading will help us be accepting of our life journey and experiences.
Each chapter includes stories, insight, scriptures and “I agree” sentences. The chapters include things like faith, blessings, troubles, peace, protection, etc. There are 27 total chapters. This would make a great gift or scripture study companion book.
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
“Praying God’s Promises” by Linda Evans Shepherd
“The Life Changing Power of Praying the Scriptures”
As I read through each chapter I found myself instantly relating to the stories and testimonies that the author shared. Saying “Yes, I have experienced that” or “I believe that to be true”.
I think this is a book every believer needs to have on their bookshelf, for it is a valuable resource that you will want to keep on hand to read and refer to often.
In it you will find stories, testimonies, prayers and scriptures that will help you in times of need.
There are scriptures and prayers that deal with the many things that many of us are now experiencing or will be dealing with at sometime in our lives and you will be encouraged to pray them over whatever situation you are facing.
Some examples are: Breakthroughs, Comfort, Deliverance, Direction, Faith, Healing, Hope, Peace, Protection, Provision, Purpose, Relationships, Strength, Troubles, and many more.
This book is filled with Promises of God. There are Promises to pray for your children, for godliness, salvation and success and more. I think every believer will benefit from not just reading this book but also praying the scriptures that speak to whatever circumstance they are facing, for therein is the power that is needed to transform our lives and others lives, and help us to overcome the world, the flesh and the devil to stand strong and firm in our faith daily.
( I received this book from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group, but I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions are my own. )

Lately I have been reading Praying God’s Promises by Linda Evans Shepherd. She has gathered up the promise verses and gathered them for us to read and re-read as we need them. You see, sometimes we need a few encouraging verses and spend time flipping the pages of our bibles for just that one verse. Linda’s book is categorized by topic and I find that to be very helpful. If I want to look for verses of Joy or Direction, there is a section of verses covering those topics. While there are no discussion questions, I believe this book is a good fit for group study.
Last spring as I listened to novels about promise jars or promise boxes I thought how nice it would be to have one place to find the promise verses. If we believe in God’s promises, how better to spend devotional time than to read the promise verses.
Many thanks to Revell books for publishing faithful books we can read and study to further our faith. I received a copy of Praying God’s Promises from Revell for an honest review. I recommend this book to anyone who longs to deepen their faith whiled studying God’s word.
