I’ve enjoyed this series and the previous Belltown Six Pack series. Hockey isn’t a big sport in Texas but I have lived in two Texas towns with ice hockey teams. I love that this series shows them as big hearted big men. Heather B. Moore brings us Jax and Meg, both of whom want to be independent and do things themselves. As is often the case both need to learn to communicate and also to listen. I enjoyed this book.
This was a fun story, although not quite as well-written as the first book in the series. I enjoyed Jax and Meghan’s story and thought how they met was really cute. I’m looking forward to reading more books in the series.
3.5 stars.
I read an ARC provided by the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.
I am enjoying this sports series romance about the Northbrook Elite hockey player. This is about Jax who’s father will do ANYTHING for his son if HE thinks it will make him happy; whether play a girl to be his girlfriend, give donations to a NHL team to insure a place his son, etc., which leads to Jax questioning if he would have made the team otherwise. Then there’s nothing like meeting a girl, Meg, like being run over by her in car. Where will it lead?
I’m in anticipation for the next book of this series.
Rating: 4.5 stars
What I enjoyed and found interesting:
• The beginning caught my interest with Jax’s interview on TV.
• I loved Meg’s grandma. She was a refreshingly different character, that added spunk to the plot.
• This is the second Northbrook Hockey Elite series I’ve read and I find them unique in the sports romance niche.
• I like that the group of ex-Northbrook hockey players (they call themselves The Pit) have gathered together to put on a charitable function to support their old amateur club that is struggling financially.
• There were lots of witty banter and funny situations between Jax and Meghan. There were also funny texts between The Pit group members. I had some great laughs.
• Jax and Meghan were interesting characters that were easy to relate to. They were so interesting, you wanted to continue reading to discover more details about their personalities.
• This was a clean read. But that doesn’t take away from the romance or chemistry between Jax and Meghan.
• This book can be read as a stand-alone, but the minor characters’ personalities were presented in more detail in book one. I am glad I had read that book first.
I was given an advance copy of this book. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I highly recommend this book to sport romance fans looking for something unique.
I seriously love these books! I love how they are just real people who find a way to be together despite busy lives, crazy friends and/or family, and just…life. And I love books that hook me from the first page with well-written, snappy writing from an author who never disappoints.
