When investigative journalist, Carrie Davenport walked into the Doll House Cabaret to interview a stripper, she never expected to uncover a sex trafficking ring, nor did she expect to discover that the director of the CIA was in on it. But after all these years in Washington D.C., it really didn’t surprise her. What did surprise her was falling for the sexy Secret Service Agent tasked with … protecting the CIA Director after someone tried to blow him up.
Peter Mercer hates journalists as a rule. They’re nosy for all the wrong reasons and most of them want clicks and sensational headlines no matter how much they wax poetic about reporting the truth to the American people. Carrie Davenport was no different. That’s why he had no problem having her arrested when he caught her snooping someplace she shouldn’t have been. What he did have a problem with was forgetting her gorgeous face.
An anonymous source, an attempted kidnapping, and several death threats push Peter and Carrie together. Intense sexual attraction and discovering that they both enjoy kinky power games has them wondering if they should explore something together. Their past experiences tell them it’s a terrible idea. Lust, and desire win out. The question is will love?
Power Relinquished is a standalone novel in the D.C. Power Games series. There is no cheating and it includes a Happily Ever After.

Our heroine is a reporter investigating corruption, and our hero is tasking with protecting the very source of this corruption. Can the two just agree to disagree? I think not.
This is book three in the series, but it is a standalone. I have not read any of the previous books and did not notice any odd references, nor did I have problems following along. Feel free to jump in here.
This is an excellent example of a romantic suspense story. The story is well written with a main plot line that has a lot of action, as well as twists and turns which keep the characters and the reader moving forward to find out what comes next. Add in some excellent characters with strong personalities and real chemistry and you have the formula for an excellent read. Along the way we get some steamy scenes flavored with BDSM (mainly D/S) for spice. I found the story to be highly addictive and prone to keep you up past your bedtime.
Highly recommended.

Possible triggers for some readers in this story due to the theme of human trafficking. I thought the plot was very interesting and I like and enjoy the author’s writing style. It’s a steady paced read with some action, mystery and steamy scenes, the characters are well rounded and the main two, Carrie and Peter have chemistry even though they don’t really want to. A good story and an enjoyable read, you do not need to have read the first two book in the series before reading this one.

Well, I think I have found a new author! This is the first book that I’ve read by Ivy Nelson, and it exceeded my expectations. The book is full of intrigue and suspense while incorporating an evolving relationship/love story between Carrie and Peter. Elements of BDSM are represented, but don’t dominate the storyline. I felt secondary characters were well-developed and found the plot to be as compelling as the developing romance, which is typically not the case in the romance genre, in my opinion. My complaints include a few (fairly) minor grammatical/sentence structure/typo issues and a few instances where I felt the dialogue and plot were rushed to get to an event which wasn’t logical or consistent with the story otherwise. I was also very frustrated that a minor secondary character was permanently removed from the storyline, but a few chapters later, Carrie was looking for this person. At no point in time should I feel the author doesn’t remember their own plot, which was why I gave the book 4 stars (OK, maybe should be 3 ½, but I really liked the book otherwise). I received an ARC of the book for my honest review, but I will gladly purchase other books from this author. If you enjoy political intrigue and romance books which have a plot and make you think, then don’t pass up this one!
This is Book 3 of the D.C. Power Games Series and my first read by this author, and let me just say that I am pleasantly surprised. I quite enjoyed the storyline, the characters and the author’s writing style. It is an gripping romance between investigative journalist Carrie Davenport and Special Agent Peter Mercer. Their chemistry is combustible and their strong connection is undeniable as they navigate the bumpy road to their forever after. These two likeable souls and the unique plot make for a captivating read. Quite well written, it is an action-packed adventure with drama, danger, suspense, passion and love, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. Overall, it is a solid read with heart, heat and a happy ending. A good addition to the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Ivy Nelson has written a book that will have you pulled in from the first page till the end. It has twist and turns that will all be explained. Carrie is working on a story and she get in trouble with the F.B.I. and they detain her. Peter is on a detail of protection to the director of the CIA and that is who Carrie is doing her story about, but as things progress Carrie and Peter must work together to get all the facts right for her story.
Carrie has issuses about giving up control and Peter is the one who likes to control. Carrie and Peter both play in the BDSM and Peter wants to have some time with Carrie.
I think some of the BDSm were a little extreme and intense for Carrie but Peter explained why he did it the way he did.
With Peter’s mistrust of journalist will he be able to let go of his issuses or will he misunderstand a message Carrie get and let her go?
Will Carrie forgive Peter when he misunderstand a text that she get or will she hold on to her hurt and move on?
If you enjoy a little BDSM, a mystery and a bullheaded couple who both want to get their way then you will enjoy this story.

This is my third book in the series and can honestly say it did not disappoint. Characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly. Lots of chemistry between the characters and the added twists and turns added to keeping turning the pages.
This book is fabulous. It is an amazing story of an older man younger woman story. It is fast pace, well written and interesting – before you know it you are at the end wanting more.
This book was awesome! It kept me interested from beginning to end. I couldn’t read fast enough. It has suspense, drama, alpha male, strong women and steamy romance. It has everything you could want. It was the first book by this author and I loved the way she worked all the issues with in this book! I will definitely be reading more of her books!!!

Power Relinquished
By Ivy Nelson
Main Characters: Carrie and Peter
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
I loved this book. Carrie is an investigative journalist and Peter is a secret service agent. For some reason, Peter hates journalists but is drawn to Carrie. Unbeknownst to either of them, they are both into BDSM. Carrie is investigating corruption and possible human trafficking in Washington. Peter is the Special Agent in charge of protecting the Director of the CIA. Of course, they don’t get along. This book kept my attention from the beginning until the very end. This book has well-developed characters and a well-written story. This is the 3rd book in the D.C. Power Games series. Now I really need to read books 1 and 2. Highly recommend!!
Amazing from page one to the end
Once again Ivy Nelson has written a story that includes intrigue, drama, suspense, twists and turns, steamy romance, alpha men and strong women. You will cry, laugh, and hold your breath as you journey with Peter and Carrie while they struggle to solve a crime and develop a relationship that seems to be doomed from the start.
Carrie is a journalist; Peter hates journalists. She is investigating a story that somehow intertwines with his duty as a Special Agent with the Secret Service. Add that he is a Dom and she is strong-willed, bratty and a masochist. Sparks fly in more ways than one in this new D.C. Power Games book.
This is a story about corruption, human sex trafficking, and also a love story between a sub and her Dom. Ivy Nelson clearly did a lot of research for this book about issues that plague humankind.
Thank you for once again providing a page-turner that kept me reading every word of this excellent novel. This is not a cliff-hanger but you will become addicted and want to read and reread all of the other D.C. Power Games books in the series.
