Discovered a new author and a new detective but interestingly this detective is a chaplain in a prison. Deep characters, good storyline. great read. Occasionally a little disjointed but then it is a first novel.
I have read all of the John Jordan books ~ I keep up with the latest as each book comes out because I really find them to be intriguing, oddly inspirational and interesting, with unexpected twists and turns along the way. Each book has ‘a story’, yet John’s life is the overarching plot line: his life is REAL ~ sometimes messy, often including …
OK read
John Jordan is a minister and former investigator. When starting a new job in a prison on his first day he witnesses a murder/ suicide. He’s not sure. When the warden asks him to look into it with his former father in law things get interesting.
I really enjoyed this book. It was original and gave me a new perspective on Florida’s prison system. …
This book is one in a series about a prison chaplain. The books are murder mysteries.
What a powerful story! I can’t recommend these books by Michael Lister enough. What an incredible story!
This novel has a different setting than most books in this genre: a correctional facility in the Panhandle of Florida and the main character is a chaplain there. The main character is likeable and has flaws that he recognizes.
There is a lot of violence in the novel. There are some twists to the story, but most of it was straight forward. The …
John Jordon mysteries. These books are a series of “who done it” mysteries that are well written. My only complaint is that they have some very graphic descriptions of prison life which I could do without but these books are stories that take place within a prison so I guess that’s all part of the stories.
I could not easily put this book down. Once I started reading I wanted to keep on reading.
Michael Lister gives a glimpse of prison hierarchy in this well told and fast paced novel. His protagonist, John Jordan, is a divorced prison chaplain and is a complex character. An inmate is murdered and Jordan is assigned to investigate since he is an ex-cop. I like this book.
The main character is complex and interesting at the start and grows from there, pacing the story. Plenty of twists and turns to keep things interesting. Really kept my interest and I did not want to put it down until I was finished. I have already purchased 11 more of the books in this series.
