This book is a blend of YA fantasy and post-apocalyptic dystopia. And in the middle of it all is Violet, princess, insecure and without any talents to speak of. Until they hit full force. And that is not an understatement. Violet has to flee and the story develops rapidly with lots of nailbiting action and great worldbuilding. The characters are vivid and come to life as if they were leaping off the page and Violet herself has a learning and maturing curve to go through that is challenging beyond measure. But she grows with the challenges she faces and what becomes of her, the person she grows into is awe-inspiring. I am usually not a fan of this genre but Power Divided! is an absolute must read and to persuade me to be enthralled is not an easy task in a genre outside of what I usually read. I love, love, loved it! Can’t wait for the second book of the series.
I absolutely loved every second of this book. You are immediately pulled into the action from page one! I loved following Violet and her friends (and family) through this coming of age story in a futuristic universe of magic, power, and suspense. The writing keeps you engaged in the action and you really feel like you are right there unfolding the secrets of her world, the worlds surrounding them and their fight to protect the planet. There are few books that you can truly close your eyes and picture the world described – this is one of them! This book is the best of Harry Potter, the Hunger Games, and Divergent all rolled into one. I can’t wait for book two!
The first paragraph caught my attention and I just wanted to see what would happen next. Great twists and intriguing storyline. I can’t wait to read the Book two.
I had never read a book under this genre but after reading this, I’m gonna look more into it. I’ve fallen in love with not just this story but the genre as well. The brilliance used in writing is one I can’t forget.
I was hooked from the very beginning!
I had not read a YA novel in so long and a close friend had recommended this book to me, and it definitely caught me by surprise! This book takes you along a ride to a post-apocalyptic world, full of beauty, fantasy, and tons of adventure. The characters are captivating and unique. This is quite the page-turner and honestly am so excited fo the next book in the series!
This was such a great fun read. Great character development and you can really visualize the world they live in. I literally had to make myself put it down and wait until the weekend because I wasn’t getting any work done when I first picked it up. I’ll be first in line for book 2!!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
love this original take on a distant future scifi that is exciting and funny with Characters you have to love. Is the main character Violet crazy because she has a voice in her head? This is a page turner that will keep you reading to find out. plenty of adventure, excitment, humor and an ending that is an inspiration. I need book 2! If you like scifi, fantasy or young adult you have to check this one out.
Beautiful World Building
I loved S. Behr’s vision of a fantasy-based post-apocalyptic world. Ancient metal towers merging with nature, powers known and unknown, and a secret doorway into memories of the past. I was hooked, and I can’t wait for the sequel!
