Libby is looking for clues to solve the murder of her mother, that happened 6 months earlier. To this end she buys the house of a woman unseen, when that woman dies before she could reveal a secret she wanted to tell her, hoping the secret would be within the house.
Arriving at her new house she finds the body of her realtor and soon realizes that she was chosen to become a potionist, having inherited the right from the former owner of her house.
An interesting cozy with quite funny scenes when some of the potions backfire. It reminded me a little of some scenes in Harry Potter – but the story is quite unique and highly entertaining.

Good book with fun, well-rounded characters and a plot that is kind of unique and done well enough to keep you interested.
Potent Potions is the first book in the new series, Pet Potions. This is a great start to this new series. The characters, both human and non-human, are wonderfully quirky and the storyline is very well written. I loved all of it – the humour, mystery, talking pets, and a bit of romance.
I am looking forward to reading more books in this great new series.

This kind of book is a first for me, and I gotta say, I really liked it. It was very original. This is what you get when you buy a house unseen, in a different town – a sink in the living room, a secret lab, a book on potion making, murder, and just maybe a hint of romance. I loved the plant, Ivy. At first I thought something was in Ivy making her move, but what is revealed is way cooler. Great book, would love to read more of this series.

Potent Potions – My first read by this author. It was better than expected.
The two main characters work well together. Good support characters. Although I saw a glimpse of an episode from the original 1960s Twilight Zone and a loan from “Honey, I Shrunk….”, there are good ideas for potions and usages.
Good dialog dispersed with plenty of humor, not always funny but some are excellent. The storylines were interesting. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*
