Under cover of night in Richmond, Virginia, a human monster strikes, leaving a gruesome trail of stranglings that has paralyzed the city. Medical examiner Kay Scarpetta suspects the worst: a deliberate campaign by a brilliant serial killer whose signature offers precious few clues. With an unerring eye, she calls on the latest advances in forensic research to unmask the madman. But this … investigation will test Kay like no other, because it’s being sabotaged from within and someone wants her dead.

I love her books
I find most of Patricia Cornwell books fasinating what forensics can do.
This was the first Patricia Cornwell novel I read and was hooked! I feel her early works are MUCH better than some of her later ones which were very week and contrived. This was very good but extremely graphic, not for the faint of heart.
Good read.
The book that got me hooked on her books. Thrilling read.
Get it
Patricia Cornwell appears to have run out of something to write about! every other sentence is about how her husband is her lover & a former FBI profiler. she’s repetitive, not only from page to page but from book to book. not the write she once was. don’t waste your time or money.
Good book to introduce new author to you list
Another great mystery by Cornell!
Like all of her books, this one delves into the technical, but she makes it easy to read and understand.
Another AWESOME thriller from PC!
I enjoyed the book immensely!!
Great book
One of the best authors. I’ll read any of her Scarpetta novels. any time.
Edge of my seat, couldn’t put it down.
I just love her books
Her books are very interesting & usually suspenseful. I have read several by her but now prefer ones by Reichs a little more.
good book
My most favorite author! I love her books!
I like Kay Scarpetta as a character. She is however, flawed. I think that makes her a better character. The details in this book are scary in and of themselves. It takes real knowledge of your field to write like that. I suggest as a weekend read as it is hard to put down, making the next work day long.
