If the start of this book doesn’t grab your attention, nothing will, and if I hadn’t already guessed that this couple would generate some steam, it wouldn’t have taken long to figure it out. However, steamy chemistry aside, I wasn’t completely on board the Deacon and Quinn train at first. Oh, I liked Quinn, and once we’re introduced to her father, her serious, no-nonsense character makes perfect sense. Deacon was where I ran into trouble. Not that he isn’t likable, but he’s such a joker that I had trouble taking him seriously. I wanted to see him put his money where his mouth was and show Quinn that he meant business. Of course, it didn’t take long for Sloane and Alex to change my mind about Deacon, and before I knew it, I was firmly in his cheering section, rooting for this pair every step of the way. I’m not even sure exactly when or even why I changed my mind, but I certainly did. The whole story comes together perfectly for an engaging office romance. We even get to catch up with Dexter and Tate from book one while still maintaining Possessive Playboy as a standalone. The book is full of witty banter, terrific characters, and a swoon-worthy romance. All in all, this second book is a great addition to the Cocky Suits Chicago series, and I can’t wait to see which Collins will fall in love next.
I love a good office romance and Possessive Playboy delivers. When Possessive Playboy started off with a hot closet encounter for Deacon and Quinn, I thought this is going to be a fun, steamy read. However, it ended up being a more emotional and heartwarming story than I expected. Deacon transforms from an immature boy to a caring, thoughtful man who we learn has always had feelings for Quinn. Quinn is a strong, intelligent woman who is trying to accomplish her goals and care for her ailing father while trying to resist Deacon. She can’t believe that he could be anything but a playboy. It’s fun to watch Deacon prove Quinn wrong and the chemistry between these two is HOT!!
This book is the second book in a series about four brothers. I haven’t read the first book and while it didn’t take away from the story, I do wish I had read Cocky Playboy first. I plan to remedy that soon.
Possessive Playboy is a fast paced, steamy romance story as Deacon and Quinn participate in a taboo work relationship that quickly evolves into so much more, at least for Deacon. He just has to convince Quinn that he has changed his Playboy ways and is definitely interested in being with just her.
Deacon is always the jokester, the fun guy and definitely the misunderstood guy. As you get to know him you will realize there is a lot more to him and is so close to holding her heart in his hands except one big mistake threatens to blow up everything he has worked so hard for. So, now he has to find a way convince Quinn to forgive and take a chance on him?
Alex and Sloane are two already incredibly talented authors but, when you combine them together, you get an explosive duo. I loved the interaction between Deacon and Quinn. This book was really well written. You can’t tell where Alex stops and where Sloane begins. They just write so well together.
Holy Hotness! These 2 know how to write a steamy story. Deacon and Quinn are about as opposite as can be but yet the attraction is intense. The banter between the characters is great and will give you some good laughs too. Love that we get to see all the brothers throughout each book. Already jumped into Filthy Playboy.
This one! I have never switched allegiance so many times in a story as I did with this one. Almost from chapter to chapter I was cheering for Quinn then Deacon, but always for them both.
Alex and Sloane carried me through the trials and turmoils of each character’s emotions, with all of the ups and downs! I am delighted with the resolution and that spiffy way Deacon redeemed himself as well as Quinn’s acceptance of who he is finally.
I am loving the Collins brothers and their unconventional romantic ways. I look forward to seeing where they take the last two.
if you liked book #1, your gonna love this one! Quinn was determined not to get into a relationship at all but Deacon has other plans! What he wants, he gets! He wants Quinn. Oh, the roller coaster ride is amazing! Can’t wait for the next brother’s book. I need to know who takes the fall next!
Quinn knew that she should have never started anything with Deacon Collins. I mean she was his brother’s secretary and there were RULES! But the charming Deacon’s smile melted her and there was just something about him that she couldn’t resist. Plus Deacon was determined to make Quinn his – damn his reputation. Couldn’t she see, she was the only one for him.
Quinn wanted to give in to her desire to be more for Deacon but she had responsibilities. She wasn’t rich like Deacon without a care in the world. She had her dad to think about.
Even with all the reservations, Quinn decides to give Deacon a chance. But things can’t always seem picture perfect and as possessive as Deacon is, his pride gets in the way, causing all kinds of havoc.
Deacon made me laugh. He was determined, arrogant and persistent. Quinn was sweet, vulnerable yet stood up for herself.
Another great read in the series!
Deacon and Quinn are hot AF!!! Persistance is the key, along with dirty talk of course! Love this book can’t wait for the next one!
This is the second book in the Cocky Suits Chicago series and the second book that I have read from this duo. I loved it as much as the first book. This is the story of Deacon (Decker’s brother) and Quinn (Decker’s assistant). The chemistry between Deacon and Quinn was so good. I loved his alpha male attitude. Just like the first book, I read this in one sitting and I can’t wait to read it again. This will definitely be a reread in the near future.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Possessive Playboy is the second book in the Cocky Suits Chicago series and it’s a great addition! Alex Wolf and Sloane Howell have created such great characters that I was so glad I didn’t have to wait to get back with this series!
Deacon Collins is one of four brothers that owned a law firm that has just recently merged with a larger firm in Texas. There is not doubt that Deacon is a playboy. He’s earned that reputation honestly, however he’s been engaging in a tryst with one of the firms administrative assistants and what started out as something fun and innocent, may be anything but.
Quinn is one of those women you just want to know! She’s hard working, smart, determined and just all-around great. Not only is she working full-time, she also takes care of her father who lives with her. Throw in the fact that she’s also attending night school and she has more than a full plate. She enjoys the heck out of the affair she’s having with Deacon, but she also knows she really should put a stop to it. Not only does she not want to be the talk of the office, but she doesn’t have time for anything serious.
Deacon and Quinn’s chemistry is off the charts. While that is important, what I really enjoyed about these two is the fact that there is so much more to the relationship that they have even though they don’t realize that right off the bat. Even though there are some misunderstandings, will these two very proud people be able to see what is right in front of their faces or will their stubbornness win out?
Wolf and Howell do a fantastic job keeping the story moving and keeping you engaged right from the beginning. The secondary characters are also great and I’m most definitely interested in what is going to happen with the other two Collins brothers because of Dexter and Deacon have been any indication, it’s going to be awesome. Do yourself a favor and pick up these books – you won’t regret it!
Omg! These two! While Deacon is more of the office jokester and Quinn is a girl with a plan, focused and more serious and more importantly his brothers secretary.
Starting an office romance/hookup is never a good idea. But that didn’t stop Deacon and Quinn. The chemistry between the two was there in spades (and heat) and so is the writing duo of Alex and Sloane!
The banter between the brothers and friendships of Tate and Quinn lends to the fun feel of Possessive Playboy that hooks you for that next brother to fall! This was such a great read for me with a “just one more chapter” all the way to the end!
I can’t seem to get enough of these cocky brothers…
To be perfectly honest, I wanted to dislike Deacon. He can say some boneheaded things and has a tendency to be too cocky for his own good. But it didn’t take me long to realize that underneath that brash exterior is a really great guy. He just has a hard time showing that greatness. His humor, sarcasm, and charm are easy to see. But hiding behind that is a sweetness you don’t expect, a strong loyalty, and a generous heart. You’ll really be surprised by him.
Quinn is amazing. She’s fiercely independent and hard-working. She doesn’t take hand-outs and knows the meaning of hard work. But sometimes that lack of desire to ask for help complicates her life even more. Still, she’s good at making the best of situations.
There’s no lack of chemistry in this story, and the push/pull between these characters is explosive to watch. Plenty of heat (and I do mean plenty), lots of laughs, and some unexpected feels make this a great read I can definitely recommend.
Brotherly Advice in a Tongue-in-Cheek Revelation
“‘You have to break down the romance into its basic structure. There’s the meet-cute in the beginning. You know? Some over-the-top way in which the two people bump into each other that’s a nearly impossible coincidence. Then they date for a while. That’s when the first problem comes in. Something to throw a wrench into their lives to push them apart. They come back together. Another bigger problem pushes them apart. This repeats, amplifying in intensity, until the epic conflict arises, usually where the man does some shit that seems unforgivable in the audience’s eyes. Because the target audience is female, the guy has to be the problem. It’s like a law of romance. He has to get on his knees and grovel to win her back. Women go insane for it.” He pokes me with a finger. ‘And that’s where you are right now.'” – Dexter (One of the main characters’ brothers.
I wish I had the luxury of time to highlight all of the interesting ideas and thematic flourishes found in this light-hearted and super hot and sexy romance. For example, The previous quote made me smile because the authors actually touted the formula for writing a story of romance for primarily a female audience. And it is true that these basic elements exist in some form from the simplest to the mind-boggling and/or twisted complex tale of people falling in love. Naturally, any romance tale can be written appeal to any audience, culture or subculture or all of them.
I am unashamed of my love for romance from the ancient classics and myths, world literature, movies and films… modern day tropes in books etc… I was born a romantic and I never have known myself to be anything other than a lover of “loves” and simply “love” itself.
When I find a romance written as well as this one, it’s a good thing. I value good things. I enjoyed the tension created between the hero and heroine and among the secondary characters. I cheered on the good-hearted strong and loving heroine who learned to forgive and trust. I sighed over the “Playboy” hero who finally recognized how utterly and completely in love he was.
Another new dimension to the hero of this book is that he physically cried. It’s surprising that the authors of this series are male and their hero cried . I rarely encounter in my romance reading (primarily written by female authors) a possessive, Dominant, Alpha male who physically sheds a tear. I’m still contemplating what these phenomena mean.
These two authors working together are somehow great at this genre…they seem to be progressing in their skill which is creating an “angsty” romance because of a good and believable storyline. Tension arises between the hero and heroine from credible circumstances. The characters are passionate and develop over time. The “hot stuff” is just that…”hot”.
This is the second book in the series of engaging and well-written romance centering around a group of bachelor brothers who are attorneys in their own law firm. The books are reasonably priced and an overall great value for your entertainment pleasure.
I am absolutely loving the dialogue between the primary and secondary characters. The Collin brothers had my attention right from the In the first book, Cocky Playboy, and I was so looking forward to Deacon’s story. The slayed with the heroine yet again, they slayed the steamy scenes all tied together for one awesome office romance read!
Holy hotness! This book was so good! I loved Deacon and Quinn. Their chemistry was thru the roof and the way he is towards her just made me sigh. I want a Deacon Collins too! Who knew he’d be so romantic!? This is definitely a must read. Can’t wait to see what next deliciousness Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf will be giving us!
Normally is not the guy jumping thru hoops to get a date with the girl without expectations, in the case of Deacon all he wanted was a date with Quinn outside of the office, he wanted to show her there was more to him than reputation he was known for of being lazy and a player.
However, Deacon an Alpha who has a very romantic man with a kind heart who only wants a date with the woman he loves outside the supply closet. He is a man with many flaws that manages to pull a perfect date.
Quinn on the other hand is a very strong woman she keeps her home life is very private from her work life. As much as she likes their closet encounters she keeps Deacon as far away as possible, she throws his flowers away, yet eats the chocolates.
The chemistry between then is of the charts, they think people have not noticed the sexual vibes they throw or their closet encounters. Everything goes haywire after a mistake Deacon makes and it’s brought to light by Quinn. In order to win her back he enlist the help of someone who watches Hallmark movies in order to get dates lol.
Overall the book was an easy fun read written in a dual POV which was amazing, it takes you in a roller coaster ride of emotion.
Deacon Collins isn’t quite sure how to handle himself when he begins an office sexcapde with Quinn Richards. Unfortunately for Deacon, Quinn treats this for what it is—office sex only and he wants more. Deacon seeks to raise the stakes and capture the full-time attention of Quinn, while she has lofty goals in place which do not include Deacon Collins.
Sloane Howell and Alex Wolf take the Collins dynasty to a new level with Deacon. The wealthy lawyer trope isn’t new, but what is refreshing and fun is Quinn’s attitude and mindset. She knows what she wants and refuses to waver from her end goals. Her drive and moral gauge help fuel the intrigue and change in Deacon. Unlike the first couple in Cocky Playboy, Decker and Tate who are mirror images of one another, Deacon and Quinn each hold separate strengths that complement one another. The dynamic combination of Deacon recognizing from the get-go he wants Quinn, as well as Quinn’s self-directed and confident demeanor, set the tone for this second work in the Cocky Suits Chicago collection. A fun-loving read, with all the banter Howell and Wolf are known for wrapped into a nice HEA!
This was a naughty sexy read about Deacon and Quinn. Loved their interaction and banter. The sexy times were super hot and so deliciously naughty. I couldn’t stop reading until I finished this wonderful sexy beautiful love story. What started off as a supply closet fling turned into so much more. This series just keeps getting hotter and more fantastic Can’t wait to read the next one by the dynamic duo of Alex Wolf and Sloane Howell.
What is there not to love about Deacon and Quinn’s story. It is hot sexy and steamy and keeps you wanting more. This story gets you right from the start you are pulled into the story. This steamy office romance has a lot of depth to it. It is an easy read it is full of chemistry and humor and banter between the characters.
Deacon is just as the title says a possessive playboy but can Quinn rope him in? Quinn is working full time at a law firm as an assistant while taking care of her father and going to law school at night. Deacon is an office fling as she isn’t trying to get attached to. Their supply room quickies make Deacon demand more from her but will she give into the man with the playboy persona.
I loved this book and didn’t want it to end.
