Lora Lofthouse finally gets her man!
I have been reading these “Possessive” books from B.B. Hamel for a while and though they are all stand-alone books they have all been about the members of the wealthy Lofthouse family. They are from very old money and have a high standing in society and basically own the small town in Virginia where their mansion is located, though most of the children who are now adults don’t live there anymore.
Their mother Sylvia Lofthouse rules the family and she seems very distant and controlling and very concerned with the family name and reputation. Though she also seems fair, but cold. Their cousins are mostly crazy except a few and their uncle Ron is a criminal that hangs around for whatever scraps he can get from his brother, their father who inherited the wealth from his parents despite the fact that Ron was the eldest child.
Lora is the youngest child and has been aimless since graduating college. She has been just lazing around the manor without any direction in her life. She has been regretting her “rich girl” major in art history because there really isn’t much you can do with an art history major in the real world. And despite the fact that she gets a huge monthly trust of nearly $150,000, she still has to find something to do with her life.
She gets invited to a birthday party for a friend that she hasn’t seen since the last day of high school. His name was Dean and he was her best friend at boarding school and she had a huge crush on him but it never went anywhere at the time. So she decides to go to the party and she has a good time and reconnects with Dean who has filled out quite nicely. He is tall, muscular, tattooed and very handsome. Lora finds that she still wants him to kiss her as much as she did back in high school.
Dean works for his Dad who own several car dealerships and his Dad had recently joined the town council. He is also having a car wash built in town and construction has stalled due to permit and zoning issues and he gave Dean the problem to deal with saying his position on the town council couldn’t help with the permits. He suspects the Lofthouse family is out to get him and is behind it. Even though everyone knows they don’t get involved in politics. Which Dean tells him. But his father thinks Dean is just not taking his side because he used to be friends with Lora.
Dean and Lora start seeing each other and they grow close fairly fast and the romance is hot! B.B. hamel is very good at writing steamy scenes and integrating them into the storyline. I like that these books are between 100-200 pages, so they are quick reads that you can pick up between longer books, but they have good stories and interesting characters that are fully developed and have lives and families and connections.
There are multiple storylines in this book, like with Lora finding purpose in her life, with Dean having trouble with his Father and his Father having issues with Lora’s family, with uncle Ron being shady and a few other trajectories. I really enjoyed the story.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the fifth book in The Lofthouse Family series, they can all be read as standalone stories. Lora is the youngest in the family and has always had a crush on her bff, Dean. Then Lora went off to college and Dean stayed home and worked with his father. Now, Lora is home and it’s like no time as passed. Their chemistry is still strong and neither wants to lose the other.
Plenty of drama in this story. Highly entertaining.
Yay! Lora gets her story!! She is the youngest Lofthouse and I think secretly the most rebellious! She is tired of being in the house and heads out to a party only to find the best friend she left behind after high school. Dean has always wanted more from Lora and now is his chance. Lora can’t resist Dean, and I won’t spoil anything but together they are a force to be reckoned with! Loved it!
Possessive Best Friend is the fifth story in the Lofthouse series and it is pretty good. Lora Lofthouse is the youngest one in the group and she has some big dreams once she figures out what she wants to do. On the plus side is that she has a great friend that turns into a lover and an even better friend Dean Ashman that wants her to succeed no matter what. Dean is a great guy and believes in her dreams. Between these two they will make them happen and fight for what they want in life. Great ending to this series!
A Pleasure To Read
This was a charming love story. The two main male and main female characters just seemed to gravitate toward one another. Each of them had an easy, laid back approach. They did surmount some turbulent times trying to forge ahead and make a future for themselves. Along the way there were familial issues for each of the main male and main female characters. They both came out of these situations a bit more mature. This was a pleasure reading due to the easy-going style of the two main characters.

Another Lofthouse Family Stand-Alone! Dean And Lora Get A Second Chance To Find Love In This Story That Centers Around The Economically Challenged Town Of Loftville. The Bonus Epilogue Finally Brings The Family Together.
This is the fifth book in a series of stand-alones that follows the secretive Lofthouse family of Loftville, Virginia. It is Lora’s story, the youngest of five children. Don’t forget to download the free bonus scene! Instructions are located at the back of the book.
This book follows Possessive Doctor, Possessive Boss, Possessive Daddy Next Door, and Possessive Baby Daddy – all stand-alones. The first is the story of Dr. Brent Lofthouse, thirty-four. As the eldest, he had been expected to study finance and manage the family’s vast wealth, but he rejected tradition and instead left home to become a medical doctor, a physiatrist. He recently moved back to Virginia with Amber, the object of his possession. Brent’s brother Jacob happily works in finance and manages the family money in Brent’s stead. Possessive Boss is Jacob’s story. Jacob Lofthouse, thirty-two, is remarkably down-to-earth despite his wealth. He is the numbers man at FLFM, his fund management company based in Atlanta. He recently opened a new branch in Philadelphia, where he met and fell head over heals for Valerie Cotter, a data geek, during an interview. Possessive Daddy Next Door is Delia’s story. Delia, late twenties, is the fourth Lofthouse child and oldest daughter. She loved her fashion brand and her store; it was devastating when she had she had to close the doors for good after years of sacrifice. With no personal life to fall back on, she returned home to Lofthouse Manor hoping for inspiration. She found it in Max Fellows, a former Philadelphia detective and single dad of his two year old daughter, Tabitha. Possessive Baby Daddy tells Shaun’s story when he gives up years of wondering from party to party. He moves to L.A. to begin a production company and soon finds purpose when he becomes obsessed with Klara.
The Lofthouse family is from old money. It quietly wields power and influence through well-connected channels, always careful to protect the family name. Lofthouse Manor, the family estate, was a beautiful home to grow up in, but sheltered the children from anything resembling a normal life. Only when the children were sent away to boarding school did they get to have a glimpse at how the other wealthy children lived. The responsibility to live up to the family’s expectations always weighed on them. Most potential friends and acquaintances were either fascinated by or jealous of the Lofthouse name. The children were meant to compete for power within the family, but agreed amongst themselves not to. Sylvia, their mother, runs the family. She is ruthless and motivated, and hopes to be able to pass the torch to someone capable of wielding that same power.
Lora Lofthouse, about twenty-three, has been adrift since graduating from college. Her art history major offers dim employment prospects, though with her trust fund, money doesn’t matter. She hopes to find a purpose for her life, but she hasn’t even left Lofthouse Manor since returning home. When she receives a Facebook invitation to a birthday party for her high school best friend and long time crush, she sees it as call to action. Though she hasn’t spoken to her friend in five years, things are different now that she is home, and she can’t wait to see him again.
Dean Ashman, twenty-three, has regretted never kissing Lora in high school. He had been on a scholarship, though, and Lora was a rich kid, and he didn’t think falling for her would end any other way than with him broken-hearted. He had grown in the years since and developed a new confidence in himself from his years of working at his father’s growing list of auto dealerships. He isn’t rich, but that no longer seems important when he sees that Lora accepts his invite. He resolves that this time he won’t let the girl get away.
Dean and Lora pick up like no time has passed, but this time Dean doesn’t hesitate to kiss her. Lora is soon inspired to do something big for the community and she relies upon Dean’s business experience to help make her dream a reality. As the couple grows closer and they chase Lora’s dream, they face challenges from their families in addition to the challenges of starting a new business.
Dean and Lora are younger than the other couples in the Lofthouse series, so their problems are all closer to home. Dean has a difficult relationship with his father and hopes to one day strike out on his own. He was never particularly attached to Loftville and aspires to leave. Lora is held back by money and power. While she realizes she has a spoiled rich girl problem, she nevertheless feels paralyzed by her freedom. Both Dean and Lora are forced to break from the mold and make bold choices. The couple earns their HEA.
Those that have followed the Lofthouse family will particularly enjoy the downloaded bonus scene, an epilogue one year later from Dean’s POV. The entire Lofthouse clan and their spouses are finally all home together at Lofthouse Manor.
Dean and Lora get a second chance to find love in this story that centers around the economically challenged town of Loftville. The plot is somewhat complex. There are, however, some business-related details that don’t feel authentic. The characters are nicely developed. It is wonderful to see the youngest Lofthouse finally get her own story, but it does fall a little flat at times. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Dean and Lora. I rate this book four stars.
I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Friend to Lovers is one of my favourite tropes and generally speaking I would prefer more backstory so I could REALLY feel all the emotions and want the characters have for each other. This story however, I could feel it all anyway… go figure!
A short, sweet story with a decent amount of steam.
3.5 stars
This has family drama, betrayal, lies, secrets and so much more. Lora comes from money, her family owns the town they live in. She is the youngest of five children and feels she hasn’t accomplished anything like her siblings have. Dean works for his dad’s car dealership. He went to a private school and made sure he was the smartest. He never went college because of his dad. The sizzling chemistry between Lora and Dean ignited the pages. I really enjoyed how Dean didn’t want Lora’s money just her and they way he believed in her was amazing. The storyline and characters kept me entertained. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Dean and Lora were best friends who drifted apart when she left for college, and he stayed behind to work for his dad. Lora is back home in Loftville after graduating from college and been lazing around the Lofthouse mansion with no purpose. Lora gets an invite to a birthday party on her huge crush and best friend at boarding school, Dean Ashman. Dean and Lora reconnect at his birthday party. Dean had always wanted Lora for his own but felt he had to let her go since they would be living separate lives with her away at college and him staying in Loftville. Dean vows to make Lora his once and for all. Dean has worked his way up in his father’s business. Lora believes she has a purpose when she and Dean check out an old warehouse she thinks can be turned into an indoor fun park. Turns out, Lora’s uncle owns the property and wants a tricked out truck. Dean is able to get the truck for Lora, but Lora’s uncle says the truck is just to get him to negotiate a price, and he wants $2 million for the warehouse. Dean’s father offers him a part ownership of the car wash he is having built where construction has stalled because of a permit issue. Dean’s father believes the Lofthouse family is out to stop him from building the car wash. Lora uses her family name to get Dean the permit he needs. Dean quits after his father takes the car wash away from him and decides to help Lora with her project to make an old warehouse into a indoor fun park. Will Dean’s father’s hatred of the Lofthouse family cause a rift between him and Dean? Who will Lora get to invest in her indoor fun park? Can Dean and Laura get her uncle to come down on the price? Will Dean’s father continue to cause problems for Dean and Lora? The chemistry between Dean and Lora is explosive and hot. I loved Possessive Best Friend by B.B. Hamel. I love all the Lofthouse siblings! Possessive Best Friend is an amazing story with great characters. Possessive Best Friend is a great story that has drama, hot chemistry, romance, family, and road blocks. I would highly recommend getting Possessive Best Friend and any other book by B.B. Hamel. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
Dean and Lora friends in high school, Loved the twist and turns through out for them explosive HOT chemistry, ONE-CLICK NOW.
Supporting each other at all costs
Very good and simple romance, in which I really liked the characters who slowly but surely build and prove their mutual trust in a world where those who want power and money, do not hesitate to want to profit or manipulate the most honest.
We follow Lora, the daughter of the Lofthouses who has the possibility of going out with Dean, the young man for whom she had a crush before and who loves her too, but the two families are of two kinds: those of Lora came from the rich old aristocracy, while Dean’s family is a wealth being built with a father who hates the Lofthouses and the hold they have on the city. Dean and Lora develop a project together, but they will encounter multiple oppositions that only their collaborations, their emerging love and their mutual support will be able to counter.

New Adulting
Lora Lofthouse is back at home in Loftville (her family owns the town). She reconnects with Dean at his 23rd bday party. She’s the rich girl drifting aimless.
He’s the boy from high school still under his pops thumb.
Enjoyed this NA read.
Recommend.
A really great friends to enemies story that takes some interesting twists. I really enjoyed the two characters because I could feel how much they loved each other but also the power of their friendship. It was fun to follow them in their journey and all that implies. Steamy story with well built plot makes this a fun read.
