Paige Simon was the only girl Declan ever loved. The only one capable of silencing his voices, the only person to ever have faith in who he was, until the day her faith turned to doubt and destroyed everything they’d made together. Declan O ’Connell was the only person Paige could be herself with. The only one she could rely on, until the day she was forced to make a choice that would condemn … condemn them both.
They’ve had years apart, and second chances don’t belong to the damned. But when you come face to face with your savior, it’s almost impossible to walk away. In order to move beyond the sins of their past, and forever silence the demons in his head, they’ll have to risk it all.
But with love, there are real reasons to be afraid and, sometimes… your salvation is your damnation.

This was the first book I have read from this author…..and I was blown away! This is definitely not your typical second-chance romance story……it’s so much more than that. I’ve never read a book that tackled the subject of mental illness (and religion) in such a delicate way. Both Declan & Paige’s characters have such depth and honesty to them, more so than you often see in books. Both of them dealt with their past in such a different way….and after all the time spent apart, deep down they were always connected. So much love between these characters. Definitely touched my heart. Overall, this was a beautiful, powerful story!
Loved this book. It’s dark and sorrowful. It about forgiveness, guilt, pain, love, and mental disorder. I cannot tell you how much I loved the writing and how emotional this book was.
There should be a warning label on A.M. Johnson’s newest release. Possession should only be read when you don’t have a heart condition, breathing problems, in general just be in good health otherwise problems might ensue. Because let me tell you I forgot to FREAKING BREATH! After each chapter I would need to set this book down and take in a deep breath. I became so entranced in this story that breathing was a second though for me. I don’t remember another book in the past little bit that quiet literally took my breath away. They story was so heartbreakingly beautiful and these characters were perfectly loveable. Even the charters that you ended up hating because of their in general terribleness I couldn’t help but love to hate. Possession holds villains that are just as powerful as the heroes.
Declan O’Connell just took my heart and ran with it, from the first page this tortured man took me over. And Paige, Paige Simon what can I say about her. If I am honest I am extremely critical about female characters it is hard for me to find one that I really like. But I very much enjoyed Paige’s character. Her history is just so heartbreaking that I just wanted to be her friend to give her hug. Plus I adore them together; their history together and separate is one that you just must read because their story is just so beautiful. This is not a sweet normal romance, though Declan and Paige are sweet together I wouldn’t considering this a generic love story Possession is so much more! If I could give this book more than 5 stars I absolutely would. This is a MUST read! Don’t pass Possession up you will regret it!

A.M. Johnson, where have you been all my life? This story was amazing, emotional and full of so much heart. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to read Possession. This author is now one of my favorites and I can’t wait to read anything else she wants to throw my way. Her writing and storytelling is phenomenal.
4.5 Stars!
This was so raw, poignant and breathtaking. I was captivated from the start and moved by the struggle these flawed characters endured. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I loved the poetry of her storytelling. She expertly weaved a heartbreakingly beautiful tale of second chances and unconditional love, tackling very sensitive subject matters with honesty and empathy. I really cared for Paige and Declan, they were so genuine and perfectly imperfect. I loved Declan’s supportive, and protective brothers, they were so intriguing, I can’t wait for more of them. This is a great start to a new series.
I’m still reeling after finishing this book and I just cannot say enough wonderful and fantastic things about it. It is heart wrenching, emotional and the author just a really good job tackling very difficult subjects. I was hooked and fell in love with the plot and characters immediately. This is a story about two damaged and broken souls who find each other again in a second chance romance. Great HEA and love definitely conquers all in this book. This is a definite must read!!!!
“Damnation, salvation and true love” This is my first A.M. Johnson’s book. Her writing is very captivating and the story is very great. I love Declan and Paige. The narration is so perfect they seem to be there. Declan’s inner voices made me shiver. It’s hard to let them go (book hangover). This book is the first book of Avenues Ink Series. I like stories about a healthy and supportive relationship between brothers. I also like stories that take place in a tattoo shop. In this first book, this is the story of Paige and Declan, with a glimpse of the story of Liam and Keiran. Can’t wait to hear the story of Liam and Kieran.
Reading A.M. Johnson’s work is a true blessing. Each word is a skillful brush stroke, adding color, deep meaning and so many emotions to the vivid masterpiece, a painting in prose, that is this novel.
Declan and Paige’s story is heartbreaking and inspirational at the same time. Their love is unique and powerful, but not immune to some unfortunate circumstances and decisions. However, the physical distance of 9 years has done nothing to quench the intensity of their feelings, the true love, passion, understanding and acceptance of the deepest, darkest demons that plague them both. The second chance that they’ve been given leads them to rediscovering each other but also rediscovering themselves, finding their own qualities and strengths, falling in love with the new, grown up version of each other but also falling in love with themselves.
The complexity of these characters, their broken souls and the struggles they go through will tug at your heartstrings, make you feel all the emotions, but you will enjoy every minute of it.
I received an ARC copy of this book and hands down this would have to be one of the best books I have read. This is Declan and Paige’s story, one that makes your heartache so much you are not sure if you can stand it. This is an emotional read as two people that loved each other from teenagers end up hurting each other by choices made. One lets the monsters in his head slowly take over and the other lives a life that is soul crushing because she thinks she deserves the punishment for her choices. Then they discover each other again. Can they overcome their past to see what they have always known, that they were meant for each other. I cried for their past and I was anxious for their chance at a new happiness. This book is a heart wrenching story that will break you in the best way. This beautiful story deals with some important issues and some of these people will relate to on a personal level. This story will be a part of you forever and I can’t recommend it enough. I have never read a book that took me on the emotional journey that this book does and made me feel exactly what the characters were going through. There is no way I could rate this book high enough to justify how amazing it really is. Thank you A.M. Johnson for sharing this with us.
4 beautifully inked stars! My heart breaks for both Declan and Paige and what they endured earlier in their lives. This is a great second chance romance that I just couldn’t put down. The storyline is not one you come across often and it felt so damn real that I was hooked from the beginning. We’re given wave after wave of honest hit you straight in the gut honestly that is just so relatable and if you haven’t personally experienced a situation as so you feel as though you are now. You’re right by their side living it with them. I am without a doubt going to be grabbing Avenues Ink book 2 for sure.
