HP Lovecraft meets Cruel Intentions in book 3 of this dark paranormal reverse harem bully romance. Warning: Not for the faint of heart – this story of three broken bad boys and the girl who stood her ground contains dark themes, crazed cultists, books bound in human skin, high-school drama, swoon-worthy sex, and potential triggers.

There was so much action in this book, it’s hard to know where to start. Possessed had so many twists and turns it kept me on the edge of my seat. I absolutely love Trey, Quinn, and Ayaz, not to mention Greg and Andre too. Hazel is such a strong character, learning to control her fire and simply surviving from onslaughts that come out of nowhere. This is a series worth reading. Phenomenal!
*There are more spelling errors/typos in this book than the previous two – my only complaint.
If you love dark, bully, enemy to lover romance series – I would highly recommend this series.
Another ripper in this brilliant series. Has Hazel gone insane? Have her three bad boys betrayed her? An insane asylum. An escape. A deal with the devil. Fire. Lots of fire. Betrayal. Just wonderful once again. Now reading the final book in this series and cannot wait to see just what happens.
The last book in the series left us off with Hazel being sent to a mental institution. And for some reason Ayaz had betrayed her. In this book, we start with Hazel defeated, but nothing can keep our girl down for long. As soon as she realizes that she’s been tricked, she starts to fight back. I love how strong Hazel is and how she doesn’t just roll over an accept things as they are. She’s also very loyal and loving. When people make it into her heart she will fiercely protect them.
I feel such loathing for Vincent and the other parents. As a parent myself, I can’t imagine anything in the entire world meaning more to me than my children. I think that’s what makes them so abhorrent to me. I think it says a lot about the power seekers in the world even in our reality.
Coming into play more and more is the fire that seems to follow Hazel. It’s obvious she has this power and she’s finally decided to embrace it and that changes everything. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out.
Hazel Waite turns out to be one pretty smart cookie even though she has been able to save herself on more than a few mishaps. In the last book she was made to believe she was crazy, the headmistress West is determined to get rid of Hazel and take what the Eldritch club has. The parents of the students are in control of their lives more than they realized, The students are so happy to be able to do what they want as long as they tow the line which just so happens to becoming very thin and the parents finally realize that they have to do something because things are definitely not what they seem. There so much suspense and evil goings on at the Miskatonic Prep is about to be shaken up one last time as the first suffered fire. Love this story line and the heroine is strong and soft at the same time. The characters are very interesting how they cope with what is happening in the Academy. I was given an Advance Reader Copy as a gift without obligation. I am providing an honest review.
Possessed: A reverse harem bully romance (Kings of Miskatonic Prep Book 3) Kindle Edition
by Steffanie Holmes
I borrowed this book via the Kindle Unlimited program and am voluntarily leaving an honest review
So, I didn’t sleep last night because I just couldn’t put this book down. It is the best in already amazing series.
Ms. Holmes has once again hit one out of the park with this astonishing third book in her live letter to all things HP Lovecraft. In this entry, she goes further into his obsession with the Salem Witch trials while managing to reference everything from the movie Ben to Shakespeare to even a tiny Batman reference. Anyone with a keen eye and a working knowledge of dark pop culture and weird literature will have fun recognizing each and every reference without moaning, wailing and gnashing of teeth as something wicked this way comes. She even addresses his rampant racism. Read the book, you’ll see what I mean!
In the beginning, we find Hazel in the asylum, where they are trying to convince her the last few months of her life haven’t happened, until one of her kings finds his way to him in the dreamworld. She returns to Derleth/Miskatonic Prep and is determined to set things to rights, no matter the cost.
This is not a fluffy, sweet and spicy book. The story and the writing is dark. Not tie me up, tie me down dark. No, it is scare the pants of Stephen King dark. Ms. Holmes writing has gotten more and more creepy, like the sense of doom she slowly wraps around her readers and her characters. Plots and plans are laid among some of the most hair-raising prose I have read in a very long time, and that includes horror novels, multiple Dystopian stories and many end o the world as we know it stories. This eeriness is a nice counter-balance to the sweet and not so sweet love scenes that play out.
Our heroine and two of her kings’s determination is admirable and plays well against the outright selfishness that exists in the parents and staff. The theme of the uber-rich or elite taking souls is a timely piece that isn’t portrayed too heavily and that sits well with the character of Hazel and the remaining scholarship students.
Read this book, but make sure you can stay up all night, because you won’t be able to put it downstairs

Oh my God! This series just gets better and better. Hazel has been forceably put in a mental institute. She has to escape and go back to the Academy and rescue the students. She escapes and finds Trey. Together they learn more information about the fire years ago. Now they have to go back and hopefully reverse what was done, and save the few students who aren’t zombies. But she has to get all of the students on board. Many don’t like her so how will she do this without them turning her into the headmistress or Victor Bloomberg. More and more secrets come to light in this book. But even if Hazel is able to save the students, what about herself? She made a promise to the demon and is willing to sacrifice herself to save the rest of the students.
Possessed continues the story of Hazel, the Miskatonic Prep scholarship student, that began in book one, Shunned. Despite the betrayal of one of her Kings, and with the assistance of some new allies, she’s determined to end the terrible bargain the parents of the Miskatonic Prep students made with an alien “god” . With the other Kings at her side, Hazel moves forward with her plan to set everyone free, even her tormentors, and to make their greedy, evil parents pay – even if it means sacrificing herself in the process.
I love Hazel’s strength. She’s clearly the most dominating character in this series. My heart melts for the Kings who went from bullies to devoted protectors. The plot is an enticing mix of romance, supernatural mystery and suspense and even a touch of horror. I can’t wait for the final book to see how it all turns out!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Possessed by Steffanie Holmes is book 3 in the Kings of Miskatonic Series. This continues the story of Hazel, Trey, Ayaz, and Quinn, so you really should read the first book ‘Shunned’ and the second book ‘Initiated’ first. Hazel has been betrayed and that betrayal has taken her to the Dunwich Institute here they say she is crazy. At the Institute they plan on doing some terrible things to her because they claim she is insane. But Hazel isn’t going down easy and this doesn’t end her story or the struggles she is going through
Quinn, Ayaz, and Trey finally broke her, one of them betrayed her, but Hazel just may surprise everyone. They tell her she’s insane and are holding her prisoner in the Dunwich Institute. When the man in charge at the Institute tells her they are planning to perform an experimental surgery on her brain, they will find out that Hazel is not easy to keep confined. After she gets free she will return to Miskatonic Prep/Derleth Academy with the truth, and her revenge.
Fascinating, unique, and convincing characters that are looking for the truth, but they may not want to accept that truth. Magic, murder, a powerful creature from another dimension, and the members of secret society using its powers to achieve their selfish desire to dominate. Wow, fantastic book, I loved it!
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
