My name is Jeremy Thorn, and I’m a serial killer.Jeremy ‘Remy’ Thorn is a detective from a small town in Oregon. He does his job well and keeps to himself. A past of trauma and abuse, and a compulsive need for balance have shaped him into the person he is today: a decisive, effective killer. His routine is simple but trustworthy. Step one: Find two targets. The first, an abomination of a human … abomination of a human being whose only contribution to the world is as fertilizer. The second, a detriment to society, perhaps a sidekick or accessory.
Step two: Kill the first. Frame the second.
Easy.
After his latest, and most personal kill, all seems to be going well. He makes it home by morning and continues with his plan as normal, with each perfectly timed maneuver all mapped out. But to his horror, he finds that the man he was trying to frame—a hotshot detective from a major nearby city—has been called in to work the case. And what’s worse … he’s privy to the truth.
“Michael Lilly’s first novel, Pond Scum, is distinguished by fine writing, a compelling story and well- wrought characters. An auspicious debut.”
Michael Nava, author of the Henry Rios novels
“Pond Scum is gripping reading…Nice twist to the serial killer/cop story. Pond Scum is definitely one to look out for.”

Action packed.
Did not care for this book.
Tried to stay with it but it was very disjointed. Got half way and gave up.
I really enjoyed the writing in this book. The turn of phrase well written.
Made me want to read more from this author
It was ok. I didn’t find it very believable.
I’d recommend
Simply couldn’t get into the story line.
Suspenseful
Take this review with a grain of salt. I “finished” it about 15% of the way through. The protagonist is so incredibly unlikeable that I seriously was rooting for his child pornographer target! I know he’s a serial killer, but that doesn’t mean the reader shouldn’t be invested in his life, his doings. My primary feeling about this man was “oh good grief, just shut up already!” He’s so smug and arrogant that there’s no way to get into his world.
Keeps you engaged…hard to put down…….
Really liked this book. Action from start to finish. Reminded me of the Dexter tv series, Just a basic similarity. Strong, tough characters, with likeable qualities.
This was a hard book to get into but once i did i couldn’t put out down. Very good writing. I
couldn’t believe that all the murder involved in this story.
If you enjoy murder mysteries then you will enjoy this book.
I enjoyed the story, held my intrest. Very good.
Just when you figure it out, it turns another direction. Believable and frightening at the same time
I had a little difficulty getting into this story because it seemed so sinister and it just didn’t seem right for a person in law enforcement to be breaking the law. But as the story evolved, I came to see the righteousness in the crimes and understand why the perpetrator felt his actions were necessary. It’s unusual but moves right along, keeping ythe reader wondering.
Too much talk, not enough action. Only finished it to see how it ended
Took me a while to get interested in this. Too wordy. I was pushing through, and mid book finally found that I cared enough about the characters to finish reading to the end.
The book started ut with alot of mystery and drama involving all the characters, but then it ends up being all about the story tellers feelings and emotions until i wanted to scream! And the bad guy just get picked up leaving a convenience store and confesses to everything?? Unbelievable!! After the chase they went through in the beginning???
What started out as an interesting concept, bmfell flat. I kept reading hoping something better would materialize but it didn’t. Not plausible, and the serial killer part never was explained. Its really about a cop who kills his dad. I got the book for free thank goodness or I would have wanted a refund.
